I like the coffee here. It’s pretty much self serve and small compared to some other locations but I only come here for breaks so it’s not much of a big deal for me. Not as social as the nearby Starbucks shops but I like it. Feels fresher to me than Starbucks and tastes better but we all have our preferences. My advice is that if your a regular, to try all the shops since they are nearby.

I gotta say I think poor café guy and gallard is judged a little too harshly. It’s a fairly new place and new places need time to work out all the kinks before they can shine. Today I finally gave this little chain café a shot after a couple coworkers came back with positive remarks. The place is very clean and the staff is very friends and quick(although they can easily get overwhelmed and mix things up a bit). The food was pretty good. I got the rigatoni with the mushroom sauce, sausage and broccoli rabe(or so they said) which ended up being regular broccoli. My coworker got the cheese tortellini with«carbonara sauce» which last I checked should include meat but was just an Alfredo sauce. Pizza is a decent size for one person. Too to the restaurant… You shouldn’t have fountain ice tea, lemon snapper iced tea and peach iced… Long story short, asking for a glass of iced tea and getting the right one was way more complicated than it should have been. But all of these were small hiccups to me(except for the broccoli rabe! Craving it now!). Overall a nice spot for lunch when decent prices and a nice atmosphere. Tip: Don’t come with more than 4 people.

Lizard heads in salads… gross. Just google it. AVOID this place! After seeing that article on how the women found this lizard head in her salad, I would never go back to this place again! With so many options in the city why risk your life eating here!

This is purely based on espresso. I went to this location and asked what their espresso was like it was a dark roast and where it was from. First he responded to me by telling me that it’s from Italy. Since no coffee can be grown in Italy it can only be grown a much warmer region I decided to be more specific and ask where was it «grown»(Africa or South America) and if he knew how dark it was. He decided that he would give me a taste. I told him I didn’t like coffee only espresso. Then he begin to talk about coffee. I tried repeatedly to tell him no I don’t drink coffee I only drink espresso. He poured me a cup anyways and gave it to me. At that point I was so frustrated I said«I wish you had just listen to me to begin with when I repeated four times that I do not drink coffee before you had me some. Since you don’t even know where your espresso is from I suppose this is not the place I’m looking for.» I then left.

BEWAREORDERINGDELIVERY. Good food but REALLYLONGDELIVERY and RUDECUSTOMERSERVICE. I ordered from here 2x a week but the delivery time keeps getting longer. Last week I was shocked it took 90 minutes. To his credit, so was the manager who answered the phone. Today, it has been an hour and the manager told me he has new delivery guys and«what do you expect for $ 5 an hour?». He said«all my orders went out». So basically it’s not his problem and no apology. I won’t order from here again.

I guess when I pay for a full order that means I only deserve to get half of it actually delivered. Ordered a cuban sandwich and a seafood chowder, and today it was decided that I would only get my sandwich that I ordered. Maybe if I had tipped on my card online instead of giving a cash tip when the guy got here I would have been treated better. Guess you have to pay extra for normal service these days. Oh and the sandwich was awful. I will never eat here again.

Had a bagel here and the bagel was highly disappointing. They were way too skimpy with the cream cheese. Unlike most other places that apply cream cheese so generously, this place was a total opposite. Good if you like less cream cheese.

Things move fast in New York and this new«café» across from F.I.T. is a new addition to the area since I last visited three months – and I’m THRILLED! The F.I.T. area(27th and 7th) is incredibly wanting for good, dine-in options. This place combines a typical New York-type restaurant feel(loud atmosphere, row of tables squished together) with the convenience of fast service and inexpensive food! You can order at the register upon arrival and sit at the bar or be seated for table service. We chose the latter and were pleased with our attentive water and the food. My friend got the Rigatoni pasta for $ 9(unheard of in New York) and I opted for four«petitewichs” – which were a dollar each! They were basically small open-faced sandwichs which were good – did I mention they were ONE dollar? I recommend the pork and the chicken. The menu is very large which can often be a bit taxing if you are in a hurry, but a big menu also means lots of options and there are plenty. Salads range from $ 7 – 10, sandwiches from $ 1 – 8! They also have $ 3 bottle beers! The prices are unbeatable for the area and the dining experience. I will most definitely be back.

Best deal in the city! The café is seriously amazing. I’ve been here three times: twice for lunch and once for breakfast. Think of it as a diner that had awesome food, service and prices. Food: You can choose from 13 fish and 11 meat dishes… most under $ 12 I had Cajun Salmon and Grilled Mahi Mahi. Both tasted fresh and came with well seasoned, not soggy veggies. For breakfast, they POACHEDMYEGGS… I love them this way and many places near here refuse. Bacon, three eggs and hash for $ 6. In New York. My toast came before my eggs… so that I got to eat it warm instead of stale. Service: the service can maybe seem a little awkward as one reviewer said, but only because the servers are falling over themselves to please. Our lunch waiter ran to the next door G&G to fetch me an orange peligrino when I asked for Orangina(they didn’t have that). «May I, Sir?» the waiter asked as he took my menu. Hello? Proper grammar? The décor is clean and modern… very comfortable. And it’s well ventilated so you don’t leave smelling like grease. Maybe I’m so impressed because my expectations aren’t high… but considering this place’s prices are below a diner’s, I’m not expecting posh restaurant levels. Best value in this area hands down. I am massively impressed.

This place is really tacky. I sat down for lunch and opted for ordering off the menu with a waiter(vs order and pay up front). The service is really odd. The servers are just really awkward– they try to be nice but it’s hard to describe how weird it was. Basically I’m never going back. The food was really mediocre– I had a grilled chicken salad with mushrooms and my mushrooms were watery. Yuck!

Sooo, I just moved offices from 35th to 27th street and wanted to love this place since its right around the corner from my new office, however… me and my friend sat in for lunch recently and I ordered the penne alla vodka with shrimp but the wrong dish was bought out instead, it was shrimp with olive oil and a shell noodle, at first I just started eating then after maybe 3 pieces of shrimp and a couple of noodles I realized this wasn’t what I ordered. I flag down the waiter to let him know I started eating the dish but just realized this wasn’t what I ordered. he then took my fork out the bowl, shook the bowl a little then gave that bowl to a guy sitting at the bar, he came over apologized for the confusion then gave me my original order. By this time we were turned off, gave the guy at the bar a warning and headed out. Won’t be eating there again.

I order tofutti on my bagel and only get it 3 out of 4 times, but it’s getting worse. The cashiers and most of the staff have fairly blah attitudes for people who see the same customers every single day. Why do I want to go to the same blah place every morning before I’ve had my coffee? I’m not looking for cheerleaders, just a place to call my morning spot, where maybe they’ve had a little caffeine before me. I am going elsewhere.

Awesome place. Best pizzette and entrees. The miso glazed seabass and the rack of lamb is to die for. Good breakfast destination when in Midtown. The service is amazing… you are served with the utmost attenion and the staff iswonderfully warm and courteous. Café Guy & Gallard is very clean and the design hip and modern This is a diamond on 7th avenue. Definitely hit this place up if you’re looking for something economical, efficient, and delicious.
