I have been going to this restaurant for a really long time. I always like it. I took my whole family for a graduation party and they really liked it and are all meat eaters. my cousin still says this is one of her favorite places and shes an omnivore. the last time i went they had cocktails which were good. and on weekends there is music. such a cool place you definitely need to check it out!

I love this place. I get take out /delivery probably once per week. All the food is delicious. I usually get the omega salad with the house dressing then one of the appetizers– beet ravioli is good, squash manicotti is good, and the mezze is good. I also like the green juice and some of the elixirs. Highly recommend!

service is good. food is hit or miss. the caravan burrito is good, though. this place was probably really avant-garde when they opened in the early nineties, but the dishes are pretty staid by today’s standards. if you get the right thing you’ll be pleased. but in this neighborhood, with so many vegan options within a one block radius — I’ll still eat here once in a while, but this isn’t my first choice.

Loved it all, the ambience, the food… exotic flavors and delicious from start to finish. Music was perfect to fit the mood of this gypsy vibe.

Had the passion fruit mojito and it was AMAZING. Good vibes too. Only giving 4 stars because we had to wait quite awhile to get served after being seated. Overall great :)

Wow, very warm and inviting. My waiter steered me correctly on each dish. Lots of young lovers here on dates! I would give it six stars if I could.

We stumbled upon this little gem twice whilst wandering the East Village and thought it looked a little ‘hippie dippie’(even though my partner and I are both vegetarians) but a few days later we were in the area again and feeling hungry so decided to give it a go! My goodness this place has delicious food, the menu has a lot of ‘raw’ and ‘live’ food but it is unfussy and completely unpretentious. I had a soup and sandwich. The corn chowder was 10⁄10 and my tempeh sandwich was tasty and incredibly filling. I’m so glad we got over ourselves and went here because it was great!

YESSSSSSS. Go here. I always get the raw california tostadas and I’m still not tired of them though Imm sure they’re tired of me calling them california enchiladas. Bahahaaha. They’re great. I love them. And you like always start with a salad which I think is cute. The paella could use some work. The cooked plate i love is the french risotto croquettes with moroccan lentils. YUM. I’m starting to crave their tostadas, they cole with guac, sunflower greens, walnut meat, sour cream, and chunky salsa on top of a raw tortilla.

As stated in my previous reviews, this used to be my favorite restaurant. Sadly, I took a friend who had never been and had a pretty terrible experience. The portions are insulting for the hefty price tag. My friend got the raw manicotti which consisted of six pieces of thinly sliced zucchini and a dollop of cashew cheese. My entrée was really oily and had a generous handful of garlic. The restaurant itself looks like it has a severe identity crisis. Caravan! What happened to you?

I should have listened to the bad reviews I read about this place tonight. I was on the hunt to try a different raw vegan restaurant and came across Caravan of Dreams. I read through many of the reviews and noticed there was a theme. Many people talked about how rude the manager or staff were. I thought to myself, I’m ordering delivery so I’ll take my chances. I called and spoke with a guy on the phone, placed my order asked him how long it would take and he said 30 minutes. An hour later the food still hadn’t arrived so I called back. It finally showed up and hour and 15 minutes after ordering. I pulled all the food out of the bag, we ordered the Tri colored pasta, Raw zucchini spaghetti and avocado wild green-sandwich. The raw zucchini spaghetti arrived with the sauce on the side and everything else in one container. I pour the sauce over the zucchini and being to mix it with a fork and spoon. After mixing for a short while I realize two things: 1. The little«meatballs» haven no disintegrated into nothing and blended with everything else and so no more«meatballs». At this point I’m saddened. They should have put them separate so people like me who have never had them know that when it mix everything, they crumble to nothing. 2. There was categorically not enough marinara sauce for this dish. The sauce did not even cover a fraction of the zucchini. And after a short while the water that comes from the zucchini overwhelmed the ounce of sauce they gave that it was completely watered down to even more of nothing. So with that being said, I called the restaurant and told the guy who took our order that hey didn’t send enough sauce. He put me on hold to speak with the manager. A moment later he asked me if this was our first time ordering with them and I said yes. He talked with the manager some more and then came back on and said«my manager said that if you wanted more sauce, it should have asked for it.» Didn’t I JUST tell you it was our first time? How was I to know that you do not give enough sauce for spaghetti??? And who says that to a customer anyways? Obviously there is a HUGE issue with the manager/staff. How do the owners allow them to continue getting bad reviews? It’s so unfortunate for them, because they will continue to lose business due to the bad attitude of the manager and staff. Oh and I should add that the sauce for the zucchini spaghetti just tasted like salty garlic tomato a flavored water. WAY too much garlic.

Amazing vegan food! Best in town! I have tried many places and I must say this restaurant is enchanting. High quality ingredients, perfectly made homemade –everything pretty much. I love the house alioli and the coconut whipped cream

Once again, my preconceived notion of what a vegan place should look like failed me. The Caravan of Dreams looked pretty dingy, with worn wooden tables, dim lighting, and odd décor. Now that I think about it, it looked like an old caravan camp. We ordered the seitan nachos as an appetizer, and I had the tempeh reuben for an entrée. The seitan nachos were my favorite. They were pretty much normal nachos with vegan cheese and seitan. My sandwich came with a choice of soup. I opted for a creamy corn chowder, perfect for a chilly day. My friend decided to be adventurous and try their cold coconut milk and avocado soup. She liked it, but not so much, so I ended up getting it. It tastes more like a smoothie than a soup. My tempeh reuben was OK. The tempeh tasted nothing liked the corned beef in a regular reuben, but the sandwich was pretty good anyway.

This place was not for me or my(fellow omnivore) friends. I did not enjoy the lasagna special I ordered — the tomato sauce was too sour, while the veggies that made up to the dish were too bitter and didn’t contribute anything positive to the overall flavor. One of my friends just straight up turned away his dish(it was too sour) and asked for a new one. And to top it off, the dish was ~$ 19 and not that filling. I’d take a chana saag(which naturally benefits from non-vegan items) any day of the week.

Hearty //Vegan //Raw Neighborhood Spot Live music, and a tarot card reader… what more could you ask for in a Vegan restaurant? Came here on a cool breezy night looking for something healthy to gnosh on. The salad I had was filling, and had to try several deserts and smoothies while I was here. Pretty impressed with the flavor and quality. Overall the menu is creative, and there are a multitude of Raw options too. Came here for brunch with a friend who was visiting from out of town. As far as I could tell, Caravan offers a primarily vegan menu. I’m still evolving into a healthier eating regiment but becoming a vegan is probably not on the horizon for the kid anytime soon. My friend is a vegan, however, so I indulged out of consideration as well as an on-going curiosity with veganism. Enter Caravan of Dreams(The name appears to be a nod to the poet Rumi). The venue is a warm and beautiful space that has a very unique charm. Definitely a fresh East Village vibe up in there. The menu was pretty extensive which was impressive. The only challenge was I wasn’t familiar with many of the items offered. Obviously, that has more to do with my minimal exposure with vegan dishes than it did the various offerings. At the recommendation of our waiter(who was very cool by the way) I ended up ordering the Potato Jalapeño Omelette(Gluten free) which consisted of squash, zucchini, tomato and jalapeño pepper served on a thin grilled potato scallion pancake garnished with cucumber, tomato, romaine and spices. It was pretty good considering my pallet is not very used to vegan cuisine. The fact that it was a healthy meal made me appreciate it more. I ordered from the Prix-fix menu($ 16) so it came with a house sale, option of orange juice or Sangria(of which I, of course, chose the latter), and coffee or tea. I had a chamomile tea along with the Sangria. I thought it was an interesting combination but I went along with the flow remaining open. Definitely recommend this East Village gem to vegans, vegetarians, or otherwise. It’s great to support business’s that offer health options. Thank you Caravan. ..

Pretty good vegan food in the East Village. They have a vegan brunch menu with gluten-free options. Prices are average to pricey for NYC ~$ 13-$ 15 for brunch/lunch menu but more in the $ 20s for dinner prices. They also have RAW options. The food itself has great flavor(I’ve only tried brunch so far). Try the machiatto! It is a vegan super food caffeine-free drink that tastes rich and chocolatey(but made with superfood ingredients) and topped with amazing cashew coconut whipped cream. It is $ 11… but worth a try! The atmosphere is what I did not love. It was a little dark and dingy and did not feel clean. I think maybe that is the look they are going for– like a «caravan». But it did kinda affect my appetite. Service is a little slow which is why I docked stars. It is not bad, but not outstanding either. Food came out at a reasonable speed, but it was also quite empty in the restaurant. Overall, decent vegan food. May go back if I am in the East Village to try some other menu items.

That they make their own dehydrated chia seed/mango and apple pureed/coconut nachos for the chia nachos just… somehow makes my heart… sing and melt at the same time!!! Store bought options are good but these are sans king corn for you specificated™ peops out there. Ya know who ya is. Lets be real. Works great for me as I am on a weight-loss journey right now… Trying to consume as little corn as possible. Lots of gluten-free options available here. Tons. Probly not a really delish typa resto but nevertheless it’s a healthy one and I appreciate this so much as I think fondly of a similar yet deceased resto Pure Wine n Food. Didnt enjoy the zuke manicotti app as much since my first thought of it was that it tasted kinda like a fart or had a somewhat farty flavor… so interesting and bad at the same time. Choose carefully my friends.

Caravan of Dreams NY Manhattan East Village 9:30pm Friday 29th May 2015 Three Stars I would have never come in here but thats what amazing about New York. You can just stop in and try something completely different. No one greeted so we just sat at a table in the back. There was live piano music playing some classic favorites. I asked for a whiskey and they only had red label so I ordered a Vodka Soda instead. The Salad was fine. The Mushroom burger looked decent.

Great restaurant! My friend and I are already planning to go back. Very original vegan food that everybody would enjoy. I had a spiced pear sangria that was amazing and that I am now craving for. I started with a bowl of raw coconut and avocado soup that was a perfect mix, sweet enough and creamy. I then had the glazed squash plate, really good and surprising, very flavorful. We shared a banana and nutella pancake that was a good finish to our meal. There was also a violin /cello player in the room, playing beautiful modern and classical pieces. Can’t wait to try other dishes!
