Great juice. Friendly guy and I will definitely recommend the Wheatgrass and Ginger. The place is creative and very comfortable. Good environment.. Would definitely tell my friends to go here.

TRULY as good as it gets. I’m rotating at the nursing home on Albany Ave, and discovered this gem on a lunch break looking for something not fried/cheesy/greasy. To find such a snack in this neighborhood is a very difficult task, and thus I’ve been packing my lunches/dinners/snacks for the past 3 and some years I have been at Downstate Medical Center. Enter Carl Straker and his fresh juices! My first day, he made me a beet-mango-carrot juice, which was heavenly. $ 5 is a steal too(16oz). He has a bunch of recipes listed(see pic), but will make you whatever you want — this is NOT true for all juiceries — see my review of Elixir Juice Bar in Union Square/Greenwich. He washes, chops and juices everything in front of your eyes, but has some ready-made creations in the fridge(see pic) if you’re in a hurry. Visiting Carl and trying out a new juice has become the highlight of my day, and I am so, so, so sad that I only discovered it in my fourth & last year of school here. He has been a vegetarian his whole life, and has tons of health tips to share while you wait for your juice. It is a one man show(sometimes two, if his nephew is there helping out) and he lives across the street so the store hours are variable but accommodating for most of us: he opens up anytime between 6 and 8am, and stays open at least till midnight but usually to 1−2am. He clearly loves what he does and has read extensively on nutrition and botanical medicine — just hasn’t had time to build a website or Unilocal page. Hopefully this helps. I can’t wait to spread the word to my colleagues in the area — but hell, I’d travel back from any neighborhood to support this humble dude and enjoy these invigorating elixirs! BEETcha you will, too.
