Really really awful service. Completely ruined my shirts and the material of them. Awful customer service and over priced. Didn’t take out a single stain which were very minimal to begin with and stretched out every shirt. Awful dry cleaners

Extremely friendly and high quality service.
Quick turnaround and listen to special laundry requests. Have never been disappointed and would recommend to anyone in the area!

I wish I didn’t have to rate them this low but after a recent experience I feel as though I should warn others of their deceptive practices. I have been going there for years and never had any issues until now.
To make a long story short, dropped off a fair amount of items to be dry cleaned and was given a bill. When I returned to pick them up was given a «new» bill as they forgot to add an item. Normally in these cases, the company won’t charge the costumer for their mistake
In this case I had to argue that to give me one bill and ask me to pay another because of their error is unfair to me. The employee said simply, «c’mon this is nyc». What does that mean?
Anyways, I will be voting with my feet and taking my business elsewhere and would highly recommend the same for anyone who believes they deserve to st least be treated fairly.

The worst customer service, and sadly, their dry cleaning services are not much better.
I’ve used their dry cleaning pick-​up service a handful of times now for minor stains and general dry cleaning (having read and trusted some of the better prior reviews).
I had no issues until today when I dropped off a jacket to have very small (we’re talking about less than half of a square inch) stain removed. As usual, they did not promise the stain would come out, and it was obviously untouched or worked on – it was the same size as after I soaked it with water to get the worst of it out. When I brought it to their attention and was obviously upset they said I could either leave it with them (not an option as I needed it for work) or I was out of luck. I told them I could give them an hour or bring it back after work, but they said they refused.
Despite what a previous reviewer posted about not being charged if an article was not cleaned, their sign and policy is clearly «zero refunds.» If I had all the time in the world or if they weren’t more stingy than I am about that $ 8.50, they might not have lost a customer.

This is the best dry cleaner in the neighborhood by far. The prices are reasonable, they have great hours and the staff is very attentive.
I had a brand new very expensive trench coat get stained by an oil based wood stain at a restaurant in the city. I booked it to Carlyle — they stayed open late for me to get there and spent several days trying to get the stain out — which they completely did. They didn’t charge me more because it took them several tries and they couldn’t have been nicer about all of it.
In addition, they have hemmed 5 pairs of pants for me in 24 hours before and will always get something done same day for you if you need it.
I’ve never written a Unilocal review but their excellent service deservers 5 stars.

I’ve been using Carlyle Cleaners for years and I never had a problem. What prompted me to write this review is the superb service I received on a particularly tough piece of dry cleaning I had brought to them. I brought in a favorite white silk blouse with a wine stain to be dry cleaned and they were very upfront with me about removing the stain — they would try to do it, but if they couldn’t remove the stain they wouldn’t charge me any money. When I went to pick up my dry cleaning I was informed that the stain hadn’t been completely removed and they would try again. The next time I went to pick that shirt up, the stain was completely gone!
Here are some things to consider on deciding whether or not to use Carlyle Cleaners:
PROS
— Competitive dry cleaning and laundry rates
— It’s a small business so they recognize old/​frequent customers so they’re very quick with spotting your dry cleaning so the wait is never too long
— Same day dry cleaning
— Honest about jobs they cannot do — the guy never accepts tailoring jobs from me he thinks they would not be able to do well and will warn me if a tailoring a piece will change the hemming/​other parts of the piece from the original
— Open early and late
— They pick up and deliver my laundry for free! I usually have them send it directly to my doorman so I don’t have to visit the dry cleaners after work
— Been using them for almost 3 years and I’ve never lost anything
CONS
— Tailoring is slightly more expensive than some other places in the area but I think you get what you paid for — all of my pieces I’ve had tailored here don’t look like they’ve been altered in any way and they fit me beautifully (I’m very petite so I need to have EVERYTHING tailored, from length to waist-​lines and I’m so happy I’ve found a tailor I can trust).

I joined Unilocal to write this review. I would give the place zero stars if I could. So disappointed in the service at Carlyle Cleaners. I was a client who used their home delivery service. They lost items of mine, argued with me when I asked what they would do about it («you can buy a new one,» they said), and then they wouldn’t return my one item that they still had. Also the guy mocked my voice on the phone. Very immature and unprofessional. Luckily it was nothing expensive and I can move on to a new cleaner without getting the police involved. But I wanted to write this review to warn others to stay away from this place! Ill-​tempered people with terrible customer service.

I was drawn here because of the late hours and they’re open on Sundays. But then I was turned off by the higher alteration prices and them failing to give me the proper quote until 3 days after I dropped off my garmet. The man working at the counter was very stern and rude to me and said their prices are competitive in the neighborhood. I went right around the corner and got a quote for $ 30 less on a dress alteration and $ 10 less on jean alteration/​dress cleaning. Final verdict is this place is a rip off. Just because they’re open later than most dry cleaners doesn’t give them the right to overcharge and lie about their higher prices.

I have had laundry and dry cleaning done here many times. It always came out excellent and on time. Pricing is very competitive. I almost forgot to review this place because they simply do their job and do it well.
