I write this review with hesitation as there are two delis right across the street from one another, both on Charles street and one is a family owned deli that has been serving delicious food to the neighborhood for years, and the other is one of the crappiest, overpriced delis I have ever been to. I am writing my review about the FAR better deli, the one that used to be called Norbertos deli a long, long time ago. This deli has been in the neighborhood for years, run by many generations of the same family. They make delicious, fast and cheap breakfast sandwiches and their coffee is always hot and fresh. In the middle of the day, they sell incredible, house made Dominican food by the pound. On any given day you can walk in and pile on the roasted pork, chicken, rice beans and plantains and have enough to eat for days! Around lunch time, the place is usually packed with contractors and city workers in the area, do not let that deter you, take that as a sign and get in line! Their cold sandwiches are great and I LOVE their potato salad. It’s the old school deli kind, getting harder and harder to find. There is an ice cream freezer, beverages and staples for sale on the shelves. If you are in the neighborhood, do not hesitate to stop in for some cheap and abundant eats. There aren’t many places like this left in the city and that is too damn bad!

Ive been coming here for years. Its probably the best authentic dominican/hispanic food in the area. The sandwiches are delicious too. For some reason I can’t replicate the pastrami sandwich at home(maybe its the shredded lettuce?).
