Good pancakes, meh coffee, nice price. The waiter was nice and adorable.

come here after gym with my friends. The hostess by the door is not so friendly(she sad hi and that’s it.) so we decided to go to take the table without her help. Food it’s ok, but the old servers r horrible … No napkins, no straws…

good food but UGH, Roaches crawling over my seat in the booth. When i told the manager he got very indignant, «it never happens here», well, yes, it happened! where was the NYC Health Dept. rating? Not on his window, «I’m waiting» yeah right!

Adequate as far as diners go. Nothing special, but also didn’t see what some other reviewers were raving about.

I just had the nachos appetizer and it was gross. I would have preferred to go to Taco Bell it was that bad. My friend got the veggie burger and he said the same thing. The fries aren’t bad I enjoyed those, but there has to be a better diner than this place in chelsea so don’t go here. It’s also expensive for shitty food.

I’m a fan, for sure. This has become our go-to diner when ordering in. I’ve never eaten at(or even seen) the restaurant itself which I tend to find the best strategy when you’ve found a cheap, consistently good take-out place. I just don’t want to run the risk of being skeeved out in person. As I always say, what I don’t know can’t give me food poisoning. Ok, I’ve actually never said that before now, but I’m going to start cause I like the way it sounds. Anyway… I’ve enjoyed the Greek salad with grilled chicken, the grilled cheese sandwich and the chicken pita wrap. Their portions are generous and delivery is quick. The house dressing is delicious, but very strong in flavor. You’re going to need to brush your teeth immediately if not sooner… My husband has been slightly less impressed with his choices(I can only remember a burger), but he doesn’t really count as he is incredibly difficult to please(read: snobby) when it comes to food and getting him to even eat diner food is a feat which took me 4 years to accomplish and upon which I pride myself highly. Ugh– this review is getting long and obnoxious. I’ll stop now. In summary: Chelsea Gallery= Good.

I really like this place because it can accommodate huge groups of people. The food isn’t amazing diner food, but any place that can seat 16 people without a reservation has my vote! Plus, we all got individual checks, which made paying so much easier and faster!

Honestly not much to say about this place. The food was pretty good and so was the price. I walked in super hungover and walked out with a bounce in my step. Huzzah. Nice service. Seems like a well established place. Bonus points for GIANT aquarium randomly placed at the entrance.

The moussaka was overly sweet(of all things) and disappointing. For a Greek diner to mess up moussaka is not a great sign. My wife’s veggie burger was okay, but what does that prove? Who screws up a veggie burger? Minestrone was okay too, for the record.

Group of 12 at a little after 6PM. on a Saturday. here are my observations. Ordered combination of food, coffee, drinks, and dessert — spinach ravioli — very god — regular coffee($ 2) — one order of French fries(looked a bit smaller than the size of steak fries minimum $ 10 order for credit cards — 2 café toledos(coffee with Kahlua and whiskey I believe) — pound cake — eggs Benedict — chili(not sure if it was the vegetarian or chili con carne Everything came out pretty quickly considering we were a large group. Even the eggs Benedict which was the last to appear only took about 10 minutes by my estimation. They have beer(no Amstel Light but they do have Corona). The waiter had no problem with writing separate checks for 12 people.

$ 6 for the smallest egg salad I’ve ever seen — wonderbread size — and a ketchup Togo cup sized Cole slaw. Plus it took forever for the check… food tasted okay, nothing special, and I was still hungry when I left.

Chelsea Gallery is your typical NYC Greek Diner. I’ve had most things on the menu and everything is decent diner quality. One exception is the pancakes. I love them! I’m not crazy about the ambience so I usually order via the web. They have tasty shakes too. If you need a gourmet, Chelsea club scene restaurant then this is not your place. Walk 3 blocks up to Cafeteria and put on your hipster goggles.

Chelsea Gallery is a true diner – run by Greeks, pages and pages of menu options, and full of regulars. The last trait surprised me – unless I ordered the wrong dish, it ain’t the food the regulars are returning for. My roommate and I came here for lunch and were seated quickly. We ordered mozzarella sticks for an appetizer; I got the Monte Cristo, and she got the Avocado Melt. I’ve had plenty of diner food before from all over the Tri-State area, and I was very unimpressed with our meals. The sandwiches, although large, were dry and under-flavored. The mozz sticks were delish(as all fried cheese tends to be), as were the fries, but they couldn’t make up for the sammies. I don’t expect much from diners – spotty service, amusing patrons, and sub-par food are standard and acceptable. Chelsea Gallery had all these traits, but I’ve had much, much better. Super convenient location, though! Perhaps brunch is better.

Yes old people do hang out here, and it’s your own fault if you order a proper meal and expect to be dazzled… It’s a diner not a freaking gormet restaurant. I don’t know about some of the other reviewers but I go to diners for the breakfast food not for steak or pasta. Best pancakes I’ve ever had. Ever. No seriously, ever. My friends have tried the eggs benedict, egg white omlettes, and french toast and no one has ever been dissapointed. The service is super — but not obtrusive like some of the places where they fill your glass of water after every single sip. I will agree with the other people that the décor needs work — that’s why they don’t get a 5 from me — it is actually sort of depressing. But again, if i wanted to go somewhere for a décor itself — i would!

oh my god. SERIOUSLY? how does this place have any good ratings? my husband and i stumbled into this place today for lunch and i still have a massive stomach ache. it looked really nice from the outside, but judging by the décor i began to think maybe this wouldn’t be the best food i’d ever had. so we both played it safe– i got chicken fingers and mike got a chicken salad club with fries. how bad could they be, right? very very bad. the chicken fingers were indescribable. like, usually these places use prebreaded chicken and just deep fry it. these didn’t seem frozen, but they were very very very low quality. definitely one of the worst i’ve ever had(yes, i only ate one. couldnt stomach eating the rest). the fries were awful and unseasoned. mike’s chicken club tasted old and low quality. here’s the kicker, though– his SODA tasted bad! how does a diner screw up SODA??? it tasted like windex. he asked to switch to sprite and the waiter responded«we don’t have sprite» uh. what? and now we’re both sitting here with crippling stomach aches. the servers were relatively nice and it seemed well-run. plus that enormous fish tank is hysterical. but i would rather eat a $ 20 bill than give it to them for food.

have been here at least 5 times. I particularly remember having good salad platter with them. they seem to be a reliable diner, though. am also curious about the big aquarium they’ve got in front, which has got no fish in it that time i was there [now the aquarium has lots of fish in it… which just looks great and fascinating!].

A consistent quality diner. We have been eating here often for years. The only problem I have with it now is that it really needs sprucing up and needs to be made brighter. I realized this after I went to the sparkling new Good Stuff Diner on 14th St.

Chelsea gallery is the best diner ever. Because it is right downstairs from my house. My roommate and I love their greek salad and omelettes and fruit salad. Oh god go for the atmosphere and extra coffee refills and breakfast specials and not for the food. I love this place. And the waiters are amazing. p. s. I just ate their banana pancakes. I almost died with the deliciousness. They are huge and weigh 18 pounds each. Oooooff.
