Same comment below — never order seamless from here. Placed an order an hour and a half ago. Called half an hour ago and was told the food left 10 minutes ago. Called twice more in 15 minutes increments and was told I have a job to do and hung up.

Ordered from this place twice. Both times food never came on time. When it did come, the delivery man was so rude and didn’t think the tip amount I gave was enough(which was 15% of the total), so he didn’t want to give me my food. I had to snatch my food out of his hand! I can understand you would want more tip if it’s raining or snowing, but seriously, it was 3 blocks away, no rain, no snow and was delivered more than an hour after I ordered. Delivery man completely turned me off from ever ordering from this place again.

Disgusting, stopped in to a hellhole. Filthy kitchen, nastyass rude staff, food piled with black disgusting sauce filled with homeless prople. i went home and threw all my cloths into the washer on hot! i felt like i picked up either scurvy or bed bugs just sitting there… and they were NASTYASHELL!!!

I live down the street from here, so this is literally my go to chinese restaurant. My roommie and I have prob ordered the majority of the dishes on the menu, and nothing’s ever disappointed. Their spare ribs are ONPOINT(soooo good), hot and sour soup perfect, chicken & broccoli cooked to perfection, etc. i can go on and on. The portions are HUGGGGE, and prices are beyond reasonable. I have a friend who hates this place for some reason, and I still can’t understand why. And for those times I’m too hungover or lazy to get out of my PJs(sadly quite often), I’ve gotten my food literally within 20 mins of calling.

Great food and great value! We love this place and do take out here several times a week. Place is always packed but our order is always ready when we arrive to pick up. Food is very tasty(beef and broccoli, shrimp with lobster sauce, the fried chicken wings are the best we have had anywhere) and the women in charge of the takeout and cash registers are very friendly and efficient. Wish there was a China Gourmet downtown near Wall Street!

Ordered with them through seamless, waiting about 3 hours for delivery and had to call seamless to cancel with them. The restaurant keep saying they were on their way but it was a lie because it doesn’t take 3 hours to go three blocks for a delivery. Very upset about this place but from the looks of it I’m kind of glad I didn’t eat there from all the roach pictures I saw. yuckkkk

Great job with Chinese food! No frills, big portions, low prices. If you’re looking for über authentic, or crazy fancy fusion, maybe try someplace else. If you want predictable Chinese food, then order from here. Chicken with broccoli– came in a brown sauce. Broccoli was still crunchy, not overcooked and chewy. Chicken was sliced thin and was white meat, not some sketchy looking dark meat. Sweet and sour chicken– chicken pieces were fried crispy, not overdone. Sauce was served on the side so you could use as much or as little as you need. The sauce was a little thin, but the flavor was good. Chicken wings– were crispy and crunchy. Lightly breaded and flavorful. I ordered for delivery from the Marriott marquis. They will deliver the food to the lobby and call you from downstairs. They can’t come directly to your door, but I think that is more hotel policy than delivery by laziness. The menu online doesn’t give an option to order sodas or water online which is a bummer, since hotel sodas always cost a pint of plasma. Other than that, the menu online is accurate and complete. A solid option for inexpensive, no frills Chinese food. I can’t vouch for the authenticity of their other dishes, but then again– why stray from the standard fare when they are done so solidly? Lots of online options to deliver the food… A great option if you are staying in the Times Square area.

That thin, black thing you see in the photo is a hair I found in my food. Also, you pay extra for General Tso’s if you get it with white meat, but it’s still mostly filler. Don’t go here.

So amazing and grade A sanitary rating. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover… especially a Chinese food book. Not a healthy option but the general Taos will get you through your day

Not even speaking to the food. It’s just been over an hour, and more than 30 minutes since the food showed leaving the premises on Seamless, and I’m still sitting here starving. And it’s mid-afternoon — not even close to lunch or dinner rush. Ridiculous. UPDATE: Call the restaurant to note that the food was ordered an hour ago, left more than 30 minutes ago, and he asked for my phone number and said — «The food left here already, goodbye.» And hung up. Yeah — no shit, that’s roughly what I called to TELL you.

DON“T DOIT! We used to love this place. Terrific classic Chinese for a great price. NOW…1 hour late on delivery. Thought it was a fluke… gave them another shot. 1 hour 15 minutes late. NEVERAGAIN. And the attitude on the phone was inexcusable.

What can I say about this place that hasn’t been said already?! I received a simple lunch order of sweet and sour chicken about 30 minutes after I ordered it. It was soggy despite my request for sauce on the side. You know how when you have a party and if there is any fried chicken, after a while it gets soggy, wet, gross … That’s what this was like. No big deal, right. Call up to get it replaced and had to repeat 5 times that I didn’t have the receipt. There was none on the bag. Then she says she needs to look it up in the system… The system… At the Chinese restaurant… they have a database apparently which, I guess, holds all the important info of a Chinese restaurant and can pull up past orders maybe, frequent dietary restrictions, preferences and blood type… I’m not really sure, the point is get your shitty Chinese from a better Chinese place, not this shitty place.

1.5 stars at best. I’m sorry but this place serves horrible Americanized Chinese food. Don’t get me wrong, when I’m in the mood I love my beef and broccoli, general tso’s chicken, and chicken with garlic sauce dishes as much as the next guy. However I can’t give this place more than one star. I tried the chicken with garlic sauce with wonton soup lunch special and it was pretty horrible. The wontons in the wonton soup tasted like freezer burn with hardly any meat in them and overly thick wonton skins. The soup broth was passable, I guess. I couldn’t take more than a few bites of my chicken with garlic sauce without gagging. Very disappointing but it’s my fault for even ordering from this establishment in the first place.

I told myself if I ever visited NY I would order Chinese food for take out. So I did. :) Ordered«Lo Mein» noodles with chicken that was glazed with a sweet and spicy sauce. It was a good spot. The portions were huge! The owner was super nice and helped us with our order. He offered to make it spicier upon our request. I liked that they made their own spicy red sauce. I don’t know what it was called but it had a lot of flavor. :)

Possibly the best take out Chinese food in Hells Kitchen. The staff is ALL business. Know your order before you go in. The staff will place special request options such as steamed not fried or low salt ect. Combo platters feed 2. I order from here at work using Seamless. Extremely quick delivery.

My department is usually very happy ordering from this place. The cashew chicken and General Tso’s chicken are good. Today I ordered the Mu Shu Chicken. It arrived with several pieces of shrimp in it. I have an allergy to shellfish and it could make me very ill or kill me. So, going forward, anything I order from here, even if it does not say«Shrimp» in the title, I will have to stipulate«PLEASEDONOTPUTSHRIMPINMYCHICKENDISH, I HAVE A BADALLERGYANDITWILLKILLME» Eh. Still, this place is decent bang for the buck, especially for Manhattan. Can’t stay mad at it.

For the location, I found this to be the best bang for your buck meal. I loved their food and the portions. I ordered a chicken lo-mein and asked for it to be spicy. They accepted my card too which is awesome. I dislike when restaurants don’t accept cards. I think their lunch specials are awesome as well. I will definitely try that next time. Available everyday 11am to 4pm. It’s hard to find a place for meals under $ 10 but this place has it

Mediocre Chinese Food and Constant Mistakes *Note* My review is based on take-out only. Food: 2.5 Stars The food is passable. The quality is a bit lower than the majority of Chinese«fast» food restaurants around the area. The standards like General Tso’s, Sesame chicken, Chow Mein are all your standard dishes. They are decent, but they are rather inconsistent. I enjoy the pork chops even though they are typically dry and the bone is hard to find. The Seafood Delight is a grab bag of crab, squid, and whatever else is thrown in there. The squid’s texture is rubber. It’s mostly sauce and vegetables. Not too long ago I had their egg drop soup and the flavor was a bit funky compared to normal. I tasted it again recently and the flavor was back to normal. Service/Speed: 1.25 Stars Typically I and other members of my group order from China Gourmet when we are working long hours in the office. 3 of every 5 orders are missing one or multiple items that we have to pick up from the restaurant itself. They are pretty helpful at the restaurant, but the missing orders occur far too often to forgive. The system they currently have in place needs to be revamped. I also understand that they are busier in comparison to many restaurants in the area, but that still isn’t an excuse. Ambiance: 2.25 Stars It looks exactly like your local Chinese takeout restaurant looks like, except it probably is far more crowded especially during the lunch and dinner rushes. Overall: 2.25 Stars For Chinese(Fast) food you can do worse, but China Gourmet is below average when it comes to flavor and standards. They make far too many mistakes, specifically large orders, and they don’t seem to care too much about the quality of service or food. The lunch special prices are very good, but I don’t think it’s worth the quality of food and service you receive.
