Dropped by this restaurant by accident while waiting for passport photos next door. Got an order to go: 12 pan fried pork dumplings for $ 3 and 2 chive pancakes for $ 1.50. The dumplings and pancakes were both ready immediately after I ordered as I suspect they turnaround food quickly given high volume and low prices. The dumplings are crispy and thin-skinned; pork is grinded well(I hate tasting pork bits). The chive pancakes were a nice surprise and very good. Given the price and nearby Prosperity being closed, I would definitely come back here. Chinese lady who takes your order does speak English. A nice find indeed.

My favorite dumpling spot in NYC. Friendly staff, delicious dumplings, fast and affordable. Nothing not to like. I recommend adding a little soy sauce to the to-go srirachas they’ll give you as it makes for a nice combination.

My friends and I just happened to walk past this place and saw their decent prices posted on the window. We decided to check it out and we LOVED it! Their regular dumplings really were a great value and their fried ones were even better. Their scallion pancakes were not what I expected; they were stuffed with a rice noodle filling, but they were still delicious. After our visit to the cat café down the street, we came back for seconds. The owner was super friendly as well. Food came out fast. Definitely a hole in the wall with limited seating, so I wouldn’t expect to fit a big crowd or linger too long.

Is that place a hole in the wall? Yes. Is it super clean? No. Do they speak English? Kinda. Would I eat their dumplings off the sidewalk out in front of the place? Hell yeah. This place is serving up some handmade dumplings that are out of this world good. While you’re waiting for your order you can literally see them making the dumplings you’re about to eat on a table right behind the counter where you order. Also, their scallion and sesame pancakes are incredible. Even better is the price… The first time I came here I thought there was some kind of language barrier and she just told me the wrong price. «4 dolla» «Wait… No no, how much for everything I ordered.» «4 dolla» «Ma’am, there has to be some kind of mistake here… Do you mean $ 14? I just do — « “4DOLLA» «Alright alright… If you say so.» I literally felt bad for weeks thinking I ripped them off! Then after reading through some other Unilocal reviews apparently this place is just mad cheap. I just went back and bought 30 frozen dumplings to eat at home for like $ 5… It’s a good thing I read those reviews or I’d end up feeling bad again.

After Prosperity closed we have been searching for the new spot for delicious dollar dumplings. Tonight we have crowned the new winner. Delicious dumplings, perfect portions, wallet friendly, friendly service, seating available, not too crowded, solid sauce. All top of the list. We’re a happy dumpling couple. Cash only. Tasty sesame pancake and chive pancake. Highly recommend!

If you’re looking for a trendy spot to drink and eat some fancy(overpriced) dumplings, this isn’t the place to go to. If you’re looking for good food for cheap prices, then you’ve found dumpling Mecca. I’ve been coming to this delicious dumpling hole-in-the-wall for a good number of years now and they’ve never disappointed. When I first started coming, their dumplings were 10 for $ 2. The price has now risen to 12 for $ 3, still a steal and definitely worth it! You can also get a huge bag of about 30 frozen dumplings for $ 5, another amazing steal. They’re pork and chive fried dumplings are always juicy and filling and their sesame pancakes are to die for! The only time the place gets super busy is(of course) around lunchtime, and when all the boisterous kids get out of school around 3−4pm. The place is usually pretty empty and quiet except for a few people sitting and eating their food. The woman behind the counter is always friendly and their service is always fast. This place has always been a favorite of mine and I’d definitely suggest stopping by ’cause it certainly won’t put a dent in your wallet.

I’ve been coming here for over 9 years. The lady at the cashier is wonderful and nice all the time. The dumpling quality has never changed. Quick, tasty and cheap. Can’t go wrong if you’re around the area.

Consistently delicious fried and steamed dumplings!(And the fried dumplings here don’t smell horrible like the ones that used to be so popular at the now-closed Prosperity Dumpling). Also, the spring rolls are much better than those at Sam’s Spring Roll in the next block. Here the spring rolls are tasty, larger, and much less expensive. And at China North Dumpling you don’t have to contend with a fake hipster vibe…

I have been going to be this place for years since I was in high school playing tennis across the street(I’ve graduated for two years in college now). The only thing I always get is the bean paste noodle. They have never changed the price for years and it is only $ 2.50. You get dry hot noodles mixed in with a meat and bean sauce that has dried tofu in it. This one dish will fill you up. The spring rolls here are pretty good at 2 for $ 1.

The dumplings are okay, not exceptional, not remarkable, but they’re far from bad, and they are extremely affordable. The filling isn’t greasy or fatty or salty. The skin isn’t thin-flimsy or thick-chewy. They’re alright, filling, and cheap. What’s best about this place is being by the park!

I love the Sesame pancakes! And the 12 for $ 3 dumplings is a quite a deal! Cash only. To avoid the crowd, avoid coming when the kids get out of school during the school year. I usually come later in the evening.

They water down their sriracha which is hilarious/awful/sad. Sriracha has been the same price for about thirty years: it’s uncommonly cheap. The dumplings themselves are solid. There are better options in Chinatown but China North does seem to actually stay open until the posted closing time, so that’s nice.

Guys, I would not be steering you wrong if I told you to check out this awesome little space on the LES. It is a very small, unassuming spot that I stopped at for the first time last year after checking out the Hester Street Fair. When you first walk in you see only two small tables to dine at, a small counter with stools, and a group of ladies in the back freshly making the food you’re about to indulge in. So far I’ve had the: — Vegetable dumplings: nice and crunchy on the inside and nicely seasoned — Scallion pancakes(2 for $ 1.75, I believe): They are delicious and full of glass noodles, which I love! — Spring rolls: The usual — Sesame pancake: nice subtle hint of sesame, but not too overwhelming — Pork and chive dumplings(12 for $ 3, but I was able to order 8 for $ 2 even though this size isn’t offered on the menu): Now these are the reason I trek to the LES even though it’s a hassle to get to. They are deliciously juicy, with a nice crunch on the outside. You can also order frozen dumplings for an amazing price, which would be great if you’re having a party and need to feed large amounts of people. The only downside is that the price seems to increase with each visit, but it is still considerably cheaper than most other places in the area. I love this place!

I remember around 10 years ago when this place used to be a hole in the wall down the block. Now they’ve relocated to an even bigger hole in the wall venue a block over. This place serves up your typical fried dumplings, chive pancakes and hot & sour soups to satisfy your dumpling cravings. It’s inexpensive and $ 10 can get the average person full here. My personal favorites would be the chive pancakes and the hot & sour soup. I don’t really like dumplings *GASP!!*. The beef pancakes were also pretty mediocre. The beef in my opinion has been kept refrigerated for too long because 8 out of 10 times I’ve ordered it, the beef has been crunchy.Yuck.

Place is solid for dumplings. 10 fried dumplings for $ 2.50 — .25 each. Though their dumplings may not be up to par as Lam Zhou handpulled noodles dumplings, it satisfies my cravings. Wonton soup and hot & sour soup is great here. Chive pancakes are delish as well. The lady here is always nice. Make sure to use the vinegar and hot sauce on your dumplings for that extra kick! Will definitely be back.

The crowd may flock to Vanessa’s, Prosperity, and Fried Dumpling, but one of Chinatown’s longest dumpling dives lives here on 27 Essex. China North Dumpling aka«Homemade Dumpling»(or as the locals address it: «Bei Fang Guo Tie 北方鍋貼») certainly excels in the guo tie(pan fried dumpling) game and still offers it at a super fair market price of $ 1 for 5 juicy and delectable pieces. On an interior front, the décor and look is reminiscent of Fried Dumpling on Allen( ) a decade ago before its recent closure. No tables, just a counter with a few stools and condiments for people eating on the go. On occasion there will be a customer sitting around slurping noodles or wolfing through a stuffed sesame pancake, but make no bones about it: This is the ideal solo dining spot. A closer examination of the pan fried dumplings reveal the perfect charred skin, with a wrapper that is a tad thicker than most but hearty with every bite. The usual chives + pork filling is excellent, with very adequate amounts of pork and just enough chive action to keep the flavor parade going. If any Chinese language skills are available on your end, always ask for extra crispy and thinner skin and the staff of lovely ladies will usually accommodate. This latter bit is crucial for the consummate experience. The boiled variant of the dumpling kind is also good, though best accompanied with something else like a noodle. Fried is good on its own, where the boiled almost always needs something else. Thankfully, the menu is full of complementary items for a tasty pairing. Be nice to the staff. They’ve endured an afternoon of punk teenagers coming in and cramming up the joint. English is limited, so be prepared to either point, speak slowly, and always smile. This is a cash only venture and if all else fails, pick up a sack of their 30 – 50 count frozen dumplings. They might just be the best frozen ones in Chinatown.

China North Dumpling NY Manhattan LES 7pm Saturday 28th February 2015 Five Stars $ 2.50 for 10 Pork and Chive Dumplings. This place was better than Prosperity Dumplings by a lot. First, the place is not packed and there are several Chinese ladies hand-wrapping dumpling. Second, the wrapper was thin and perfectly wrapped around the salty and juicy pork filling.

I was actually in the neighborhood to check out this new spot but they didn’t do takeouts. I checked my bookmarked spots on Unilocal to grab something quick to eat and I arrived at this dumpling spot. I haven’t been in the area in a while and was shocked how deserted the street looked. There must have been some construction going on because the other side of the street was blocked off from parking, I went in and immediately received smiles from the staff. They were real sweet and asked where I lived. They were shocked that I came from Queens but they don’t know a sista will travel for some good grub or to check out a new spot. I checked out the menu and wasn’t sure what to order. The guy behind the counter suggested I get the #1 which is what I ordered. It was the«Chives and Pork Pan-Fried Dumplings.» I also ordered the hot and sour soup and the sesame pancake with pork and the grand total was under $ 6. I was shocked as shiznit. I used some of the spicy sauce on my dumplings and feasted. I went to work and a co-worker was like ooh those smell good. I am usually the sharing person but I didn’t give up my dumplings. The sesame bread with pork was yummy too. The hot and sour soup was ok but I’ve had better. This will definitely be a spot I venture to again for some quick and delicious cheap eats.
