Niche place! Tried a couple of their dark choclates, which tasted really good. Yet to taste their plantation mangaro

New. Handsome. Refreshing. A chocoholic’s dream. Great coffee too! The croissants are made in France and baked fresh on premises. Have been here twice and will make it a favorite. A terrific respite from the city noise.

Delicious chocolates but as with any artisan dessert spot, prices are expensive. Although I’m not the biggest fan of dark chocolate, their chocolate bark bars are fabulously smooth, creamy, and delicious. All their chocolates are carefully crafted and you can taste the high quality ingredients they use. I would be extra careful about prices as I’ve inquired about holiday chocolates that were on sale and the manager mixed up prices. I was told one price, but when rung up, she doubled the price she mentioned and claimed that was the price she originally told me. Anyhow, this store is relatively new and I expect it to do well as long as management improves and the quality of chocolate stays the same.

I’ve been to the one in Paris, which was *much* better. I spent about $ 25 on some different pieces for a dinner party. The young woman who helped me was new and she was delightful & really helpful. The other woman who was working, who actually approached me first, was obnoxious & rude. But the nice woman earned them the second star. But we all agreed that the chocolates were just OK. I personally thought they were bad. We shared a few of the pieces with each other and I didn’t think any of them were any good. In fact, I think at least 2 of them were stale. Ugh, awful! They are pretty, but taste awful. I didn’t try the hot cocoa or macarons simply b/c that’s not what I was there for. Plus, they were really, really pricey. LA Burdicks is closer to me and million times better. Ditto for Li-Lac Chocolates, which originated in NYC.

Decided to get a hot chocolate. I think it came out to 7 and change or 6 and change, I forget. It’s small but so rich that you really wouldn’t want to drink more. If you think that the dark wouldn’t be sweet enough and the milk is too sweet, you can ask for a mix of the two which I got. Was excellent. 2nd best hot chocolate I have had.

I saw this place while on the bus and purposely made a stop to have a look since it looked so beautiful. I didn’t see the sign at first and thought it was Maison du Chocolat which a friend had highly recommended for macarons. I bought two macarons(almond and pistachio) and was very disappointed. The shells were hard and crusty like they had been sitting there for ages. With a fancy name like Chocolat Michel Cluizel, I really thought I was getting some real deal macarons. It was Friday night and the place looked like it was about to close for the day so perhaps the macrons were the ones that didn’t sell during the week.

Their Macarons were top notch. This French pastry shop did not disappoint. I tried one of their dark chocolate truffle and it was the perfect chocolate bitterness and semisweet taste. I was drawn by their colorful Macarons display so I ordered a variety box. The Definition of macaron texture and taste is located in this shop. The macaron is so moist and airy it leaves your tongue wanting more. It was not flaky and the fillings were also distinctively flavorful. When you bite into the orange it packs a punch but not overpowering, the chocolate was semisweet and the toffee taste was just as good. I have to see if I can ordered these online later on.

Dropped by their new, shiny, larger than it needs to be flagship/HQ along Madison for some great chocolates and even a baked good. Nice staff but a bit of squandered space near the entrance that seems to discourage lingering.

Excuse me, but have you met our lord and savior Dark Hot Chocolate? This was like, the hot chocolate of my dreams. It wasn’t bitter or mellowed out by milk. It was like drinking a high quality chocolate bar. Smooth, sweet, and full of chocolate flavor. The best part is, towards the end, you get some chocolate pieces in each sip that just melts in your mouth. Amazing. Just make sure to swivel your cup a bit towards the end, some of the chocolate gets clumped up a bit and drinking that straight up feels like drinking a small dose of diabetes. Anyway, do not let the size fool you because a small cup of that was as rich as Bill Gates. I’d love to go back and try the actual chocolates they have displayed but, for now? Let me bask in the magical qualities of their hot chocolate.

After being hit by a taxi today(I’m not kidding) I decided to treat myself to 6 dark… because…you never know… you might as well eat as much chocolate as you desire. Michel Cluizel is in my top five. Chocolate, as good as it gets.

There’s life before Michel Cluizel and life after. Life after is so much better. I was first introduced to this chocolate at ABC Carpet and Home way back in the paleolithic era, and I was an immediate convert I am not alone in believing that the chocolate from this great French house is the best on the planet. Until Michel, I had no familiarity with«gran cru» or single plantation chocolates. I purchased a small sampler box of single plantation and discovered that each one had distinct top notes and undertones just like wine. The chocolate is rich, dense and full of umami. Thereafter, whenever in the City, I stop by for replenishment. Happily, Michel also ships. Most recent fav is the 98%, which my chocolate-phile friends also adore. Notably, the shop also has an amazing color and flavor spectrum of delicious French macarons
