Food was superb. Ordered the tandoori chicken, garlic naan, and malai kofta with basmati rice. These dishes together were a perfect combination, and it came to about $ 40 total — not terrible for 2 people. I wish there was slightly more food as we devoured all of it with barely any leftovers. The ambiance was nice enough, good music, and prompt service. I only have one complaint from my meal here, and I’d love to get some answers from the management — do you guys have a plate shortage or something? The waiters were on our table like hawks, continually asking us whether we were finished our meals so they could take our plates. Several times they removed our plates before we were finished and we had to ask to have it back. Once we finished our tandoori chicken and were picking at the grilled onions left on the dish, the waiter literally just dolloped the onions onto our plates so he could take the dish away. It was very odd and I’ve never had this experience at a restaurant before… it made the meal feel very rushed and that we couldn’t enjoy our meal properly. Nonetheless the food was delicious and I’m sure I’ll be back. Hopefully they’ll have replenished their supply of dishes by then.

This review took me a long time to write, mostly because there was nothing particularly memorable about the experience. The food was good, and the ambiance was dark, but okay. Honestly, the thing that stood out to me the most was how pricey our meal ended up being. Their menu is extensive, and ranges from the most typical Indian dishes to a few more unique ones. My go-to Indian dish, if there are non-vegetarian options, is the Chicken Tikka Masala, but there were a couple of other interesting chicken options on the menu so I asked the server to offer a suggestion. I ended up going with the Murgh Butter Masala — which, according to the server, is composed of the exact same spices as the tikka masala but cooked with dark meat instead of all white meat. I appreciated that our server was able to differentiate the different spices in many of the dishes that we asked about. We ordered a serving of naan(cut into 4 pieces which was each about 3 inches across), which I didn’t think was enough for the two of us. I’d definitely suggest getting at least one side, either rice or naan, per person. The bill came out to be $ 19/person, and I didn’t even feel particularly full. I had leftovers, but it was just a lot of sauce, and I didn’t see the point of spending another $ 4 – 5 on naan. I’m not sure if this would be my restaurant of choice if I’m back in the area, but if I do come back, I’m definitely bringing an Indian friend who can tell me what to order!

This place have everything the food, service, ambience and location. It was last week with my wife and children; the moment I entered to the restaurant I felt a kind of vibes, love of food, the smiling lights and the craziness atmosphere with beautiful songs playing background.

I’m all about(Indian) buffets. But we came to Chote for dinner thanks to work! The 8 of us went a little overboard with the ordering — how could we pick when there were so many options to choose from! Ultimately we ordered wayyyy too many dishes to share(to a point our server came back to our table to warn us — oops). Lamb biriyani, tandoori salmon, saag paneer, tikka masala, butter chicken, gobi, chicken korma, tandoori chicken, sweet naan, and keema naan. just to name a few. Every dishes was beyond delicious. My personal fav was the tandoori salmon — moist, flakey, and flavorful. My heart skipped a beat when I heard the salmon sizzling its way to my table. Keema naan(lamb filled) was nothing I’ve had before! Perfectly warm, chewy, and stuffed — I must had devoured the whole basket myself(before anyone else could get to it)! Plain naan — sorry, our relationship just isn’t the same anymore. Yes the place is pricy! All the dishes do not come with naan or rice. But the quality and taste are well worth it! Definitely check it out if you are in the area!

I went on saturday to try indian food here. I had malai chicken tikka and goat curry which was juicy and mouth watering. there should be a side rice in each curry. Its crowded but worth the time i had with nawab, chote nawab… love my curry neighborhood…

Back again to NY and was so excited to visit chote nawab again! It was my second time there and the food and service both are amazing as it was The foods are so amazing and delicious hmmm my mouths are still bursting with the flavors. I was there at Saturday night and it was quite busy but the staffs were so attentive and the the service was spot on! Busy yet but still very excellent service. Can’t wait to be there again!

So, i want to take a few stars off based on my fourth visit tonight. It was busy because of Christmas may be but that shouldn’t account for a watery daal and dry paratha and a lot of other disappointing items I paid a big amount for. I am so disappointed at the food and service received today that I won’t consider coming back at all. Notch up the service and food quality chote!

With the abundance of Indian restaurants within a two block radius, one would think each one would be better than the next. This place is not only expensive — though they all seem to be – but fair to middling in cuisine.(I long for the days when 6th Street was in its prime with delicious food and ultra-reasonable prices.) We started with an appetizer of aloo tikki choat. It was pretty good: potato cakes with chickpeas and chutney. The most disappointing dish on the table was my entrée: chicken tikka. It tasted like burnt, under-seasoned grilled chicken.(When one orders the same thing at practically every Indian restaurant as I do, one achieves a good point of comparison. C-minus for the chicken tikka … and I’m being generous.) The best thing from our order was the mustard tikka, which my husband chose. I had low expectations — mustard?! — but it was great, with chicken cooked just right with ample tang.(I think the chef was tending to this, while my dish languished on the grill or tandor.) The kurma we got wasn’t bad. And the basmati rice was typical … but shouldn’t rice be offered as a freebie with one’s meal? As said, I think this place ranks midway on a scale: maybe five out of ten stars. No complaints about the service. But I won’t be running back.

Worst service ever! We asked for chatni at least 7 times before getting some. Asked for an extra glass of water 6 times before getting it. Another group arrived and they wanted a table of 6 like us so the waiters kept pointing at us indicating that we are almost done. Then they took the plates away while my dad was still eating. Finally we were asked to leave right when they picked up the check because they needed the table for another reservation. Note that we had also made a reservation and were there for only an hour. Will never go back. Too many choices in curry hill to deal with that type of terrible rude service. Food was average. Not worth the $ 220.

One of the worst restaurant I have seen so far. Poor customer service full stop. We went in for lunch and ordered from the main menu and we were told later that we won’t be able to share the food since the same item was in the lunch special. The manager argued with us to not share at all even when we’re ready to pay the full price under the main menu. We were even denied extra plates to share! Too rude!

Went here for lunch, Had the baigan bhurta dish, which had a peanut gravy. It came with rice, naan, daal, and some pickled cabbage. The daal and cabbage were both excellent. Not a whole lot of eggplant but an excellent gravy. Took a bit too long to get my food(15 min) but as the quality made up for the time, I’ll still note it as a bare 4. 3.8. Will get meat next time.

The fact that all of these garbage indian restaurants can charge $ 15 – 20 per dish is beyond comprehension. They say the«free market» is supposed to protect against these kinds of things but obviously its not the case. I know this is New York and prices are higher blah blah blah but this place is charging $ 20 per dish for very sub par food. I went here on a Friday night. We were seated immediately, probably the only good thing. My girlfriend ordered a glass of wine. I ordered a beer. They didn’t bring me a glass for my beer. And my girlfriends wine glass was not clean at all. You could feel all of the food stuck to the outside of it. The dishes we ordered, one chicken and one lamb, were $ 16 and $ 18 respectively. Neither came with rice or naan or anything. $ 18 and no rice? Are you kidding me? A portion of rice for an individual costs maybe 5 – 8 cents. Literally. And they want to charge me $ 4 on top of the $ 18 for the dish. Absurdity. When the dishes came they were small. Very small. Both had maybe 8 small 1 inch square chunks of meat and then a cup of sauce. The naan we got for an additional $ 3.50 had 4 small triangles. The lamb was incredibly fatty to the point that my girlfriend couldn’t eat in. I’m talking chunks of gristle. Flavor on the chicken was super boring. Flavor on the lamb was decent though. Only reason im giving it 2 stars. And because they seated us immediately on a Friday night which is pretty rare in new york city. All in all a beer, a glass of crappy wine, two tiny entres, and a side of naan and i paid $ 70 out the door. I’ll never be coming anywhere close to this place again. Talk about lack of hospitality and a straight up ripoff.

We were really craving Indian food. Lucky for us, we were in the«Curry Hill» neighborhood. The portions at Chote Nawab are small. I was also a bit bummed that the entrees don’t come with rice or naan. Those have to be ordered separately. For my boyfriend and myself, we ordered 3 entrees and 2 portions of rice. It was barely enough. I think we could’ve done with another«entrée». On to the food! The chicken tikka masala was tender and saucy. The okra dish(bhindi masala?) was a good choice as well. Unfortunately, the saag paneer was a bit of a disappointment. Maybe I don’t know how the dish is supposed to be, but the saag paneer here was really spinach-y and not saucy enough. It just tasted like mushy spinach. The mango laasi is really good– just sweet enough without tasting like pure nectar. The overall restaurant is a great place for a date spot– hip, with several tables. Good service too. I’m not sure that I would return because the portions were small. Plus there are so many more restaurants in the area that I would love to try.

I’m like a pregnant woman(I’m not pregnant!) with a craving. I have been to this place every week for the past month. And this week I’m going to be eating here 2x. Quality is excellent. Staff is friendly. Service is fast. And the dishes are soooooo delicious. I only order curries here. Their other stuff is good. But they do curries really really well. So go for that :)

REALTIMELUNCHREVIEW! At 12:48pm, ordered up what I hope will be two days worth of lunches: Lamb Pepper Fry($ 12.95) Lata Shetty’s Kori Gassi($ 15.95) Paratha($ 4.95) Up to 60 minutes delivery time, and they’re 1.5 miles from my office. Arrived by 1:30pm! Everything was solid or damned good! The Kori Gassi is unique, flavorful, creamy, spicy, with very tender, fall apart chicken. Could have been a more generous portion for the price point… and they could have given more rice. But I’d order again in a heartbeat! Loved the Lamb Pepper Fry, which went perfectly with the really good, flaky Paratha. Definitely enough for two lunches. Order up some now!

Chote Nawab was at our office via Fooda. I ordered the Lamb Roganjosh, which came with a samosa, rice and naan all for $ 10! Amazing deal, and the food was great. The lamb portion was generous, and the naan was great. I don’t think my office mates appreciated the highly aromatic meal though! Super nice guys too.

Wen’t to this place on a Sunday afternoon with a party of 9 and could seat us right away even though there was a good crowd in there already. This place has really good food and the portions are good, not too much, not too little for an average person. They got pretty really good lunch entrees(runs around $ 10) and applies to weekends as well. Thank God. I ordered a chicken curry(don’t remember which one) but our whole party was happy with everything that they got. All the lunch entrees comes with cabbage, dal, rice, naan or roti, and if you run out you can ask for more without being charged extra. I MEANUNLIMITEDNAAN?! OHBABY! Also FYI, if you order spicy, YOUWILLGETSPICY so don’t act like a tough guy if you don’t want to feel it the next morning on the toilet. The owner is a really nice guy that has a bit of a tough exterior but you know he cares about his customer cause he cracks a smile every now and then, and shoots a couple jokes. He makes sure your glass never runs out of water and that your naan habits are satisfied. It’s like going to your non-existing adopted Indian father’s home. Anyhow check this place out, good food, great prices, nice ambiance. Thumbs up, this place is doing it right.
