Well… So much for this place! I got scammed. I loved Color Tanning and had purchased an airbrush tan package. I had a bunch of airbrush tans left. Probably $ 250 or more dollars worth that I didn’t get to use. I kept calling to make an appointment but the lady(the owner) who did the airbrushing was pregnant and took some time off before she was due to have her baby. I tried to be patient but she was never available and I called many times. Fast forward to recently, I called the line and there was no answer. I was calling during business hours so I thought that was odd. Then a week or so later the number was disconnected. I thought maybe they were having phone troubles or had to change their number but there was nothing listed on their website about anything of the sort. I decided that I needed to pay them a visit to see what was up. I finally had the chance to walk by and sure enough, it was closed. All of their lotions were still in there on the shelves but there was no note to the customers explaining what happened… Nothing but dust, as if the business had been abandoned. So strange! And not surprisingly, nobody called me to say that they would refund my money that I spent for airbrush tans I never received. I’m not really happy that I didn’t get what I paid for. I guess I should have listened to some warnings I had read but I thought that the owner was so nice that she didn’t seem capable of the things they were accusing her of. My bad.

First of all when you walk in it feels as though you’ve entered the ITSPOT of the city. Its beautifully styled! I simply walked in after receiving a promotional flyer for a free week of tanning with the purchase of any session. I was soo tempted to do a month of tanning, but I am strapped these days. Let me start by letting you know that it is close to impossible for me to tan. After 3 days i still saw no difference. I asked Nicki(the amazing receptionist) why it was so difficult for me, and she simply handed me a Tingle cream. After using this i was finally my nice Hispanic tan color! Another great thing is that i did not feel pressured to purchase anything. Plus every time i went to tan i was handed a nice cold bottle of water and a nice clean towel. The staff is amazingly sweet. I went to Beach Bum after wards to compare prices. Let me start by saying they are a complete rip off, OK you have pretty staff SOWHAT. So does Color Tanning. Its $ 249 for a MONTH at Beach Bum, if you want access to their best machines. Color Tanning is only $ 149 and u have access to ALL their machines and i did try the machines at Beach Bum and believe me COLORTANNING is better. I didn’t expect to fall in love with tanning, I’m actually scared of it. But after the amazing service and great results and KNOWLEDGEABLE staff how could i not. I have recommended everyone to do this. Now me and my friend are going to purchase a monthly membership!

Wow, after reading all the negative reviews, I feel a bit bashful writing a review that basically praises the place. It’s the end of winter now, and my skin is a sad, pale mess. I got one of the fliers that advertised 1 week of free tanning for the price of one session($ 40). Not bad. I appreciate that they don’t make me feel weird for taking advantage of the deal, I didn’t feel pressured to buy more than one session and every time I go in(which has been every day since my purchase) the front desk girl has been nothing but sweet and pleasant. The beds are pretty wild looking, but they work really well. The place itself is clean, has a cool selection of fashion rags, and you get a nice chilly bottle of water with each visit. Overall, a very good experience.

This is probably the absolute WORST place on the planet. The girl at the front desk is either retarded or has no conscience. They overcharged me(by hundreds of dollars) and when I call to speak to the manager to get it resolved, I can’t seem to get any help. I’ve called, I’ve emailed. Nothing. This place is totally shady and a complete scam. TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE. NASTY. SAVEYOURSELVES!!!

After leaving Color Tanning, I was inspired to sign up for Unilocal after the horrendous service I received. About 2 months ago I was inspired to go into this tanning salon, after getting a flyer about a free week of tanning. They informed me that you pay for 1 tan and get a free week. Not a bad deal and the place is beautiful. Really nice beds and a classy environment. The saleswoman told me that I really needed lotion and recommended that I try one of these small sample sized portions. When she ran my credit card, she informed me it came out to about $ 40 with the tax and I signed the receipt. When I got my credit card bill, it was ran for $ 55, not the $ 40. When I called to inquire, she asked if i had the receipt to prove that I it was suppose to be for $ 40. And then she explained to me that it looks like there was an additionaol charge for a lotion. I explained to her that I wasn’t informed that there was a charge for a sample lotion. She said, yes it was $ 14– but she agreeded to credit my account, since she said she couldn’t refund the charge. I was pissed off to say the least, but I still wanted to go back in and get the tan I had paid for. When I went it to use my tan, the same saleswoman informed me that I had needed to use that tan within 1 month of getting my free week– which expired about 10 days ago. I was never informed about this and I was furious. If she was a smart sales person, she would have said she was sorry for the miscommunication and given me the free 15 min tan, instead she said she was unable to do that since the guy that runs the business wasn’t there. This was the WORST experience I have ever had at a tanning saloon. I am definately going to stick to City Sun Tanning. In this economy you would think that they would try to retain and gain new clients, rather than drive them away with their lack of service, attitudes and poor business practices.

When walking into Color Tanning for the first time, I was pretty impressed. Its dark wood walls and floors looked great, and no florescent lighting in sight. While their lower level beds were nicer than most, the high level stand-up booths were rather generic. Over a 2 month period, I noticed several bulbs had gone out in the booths and were never replaced during that time period. Also, the rooms had fairly poor ventilation and were hotter than most after using the stand-up tans. What bothered me more than anything were the sales people. My first time purchasing a lotion, I asked the man at the front desk what the difference between the lotions were and their price ranges. He couldn’t answer either question, and instead, handed me a cup of generic lotion he found in the back. Annoying, but not a big deal. What I really couldn’t handle was the pressure from the regular sales people to buy a more expensive lotion or upgrade to a more expensive plan — it was relentless. Yes, they were friendly, but I literally had to say no a minimum of 5 times before they let up. It almost was as if I had to defend myself for asking for cheaper alternatives. Haven’t been back, as I feel like I shouldn’t have to pay for peer pressure. That was what 7th grade was for.
