Just walked by yesterday and they were closed. This is a great lunch place in Chinatown. Let me know if they are not closed for good. This is sort of Chinatowns diner with Asian foods.

This is THE place to go when you want to go to an authentic Hong Kong style café. It’s located in a tunnel that connects Bowery with Elizabeth. When I was a child, my father used to take me to this restaurant after Chinese school. I would order a red bean ice and a young chow fried rice. To date, the Young Chow Fried Rice is the best I’ve ever tried. The fried pork chop over rice and the«pancake» with condensed milk are also delicious. The food is very cheap. Most dishes are around $ 4-$ 7. They also have breakfast(until 11am) for around $ 3-$ 4 which includes congee/noodle + toast + coffee/milk tea. Unfortunately, the service at Coluck sucks. The restaurant is either short staffed or the waitresses are constantly chatting with each other and ignoring the customers. It is sometimes impossible to get their attention. The décor has not been updated since I was a kid. It’s not the most glamorous place and not the best place to bring someone on a first date. It’s sort of like«stinky tofu». You have to learn to appreciate it.

I’ve been coming to Coluck for as long as I can remember(15+ years). I remember being a little girl and my mom would take me here for lunch whenever I was in Chinatown. Every single time I would get their ham and egg sandwich, which has been the best that I’ve ever had. They also make a 6 page menu full of other dishes — sandwiches, rice, noodles, etc. One of my personal favorites is their pig intestines with string beans over rice. I don’t even need to eat the pig stomach. The sauce alone makes me want to gobble up the rice. Their breakfast specials cannot be beat. You get congee or noodles or ramen with your choice of tea, coffee or soy milk and toast for under $ 4. Most of the time I can have a full meal here with the boyfriend for less than $ 15. For as long as this place stays in business, I will continue to come here. Despite the occasional fly and the less than attentive service, I will still come here for as long as I can.

This restaurant has been around for as long as I can remember(15 years +). It manages to be a fusion of American and Asian«comfort» food items. Ate breakfast there this past weekend(fried Ramon noodles and noodles with soup with fried egg, sweet toast and coffee/tea). The prices were cheap which reflects the small portion you’ll get(i.e. one slice of small toast and small cup of coffee/tea). The place is family oriented and on weekends, it’s usually crowded with kids getting out of Chinese school.

Just about everything is great here. From the wide ranges of fried rices and noodles to the western appetizers and all day breakfast. Its a quick and easy meal and the ices are really yummy too. The fried chicken is really good and super fresh. And the kimchi fried rice is great and pretty cheap.

Definitely try this place! Inexpensive, quick, the menu is pretty extensive and serves American dishes such as egg/bacon sandwiches and Korean dishes like kimchi w/rice cakes. I recall Italian spaghetti on the menu too. Yum! The rice dishes are pretty tasty, the ramen noodles are average and the fried calamari delicious! Didn’t try the iced drinks though but from what I hear, they taste good!

I pretty much grew up eating here and the food was great. As time went by, prices went up and quality went down. Came here a few days ago and really wasn’t too thrilled with the noodles I got. There are definitely better cheap eat options, but most people who come here have their usual dish. Food is still decent, just not my first choice. Especially not in this area.

There are a few reasons why I love this place: It’s tucked away on Elizabeth street where it is almost like a tunnel of a nice assortment of Asian restaurants. It’s also very HK styled, where you can order basically anything you want from curly fries, fried chicken wings, any type of rice dish imaginable, ramen noodles, etc. It’s very reasonably priced and the helpings are large. Also, I love that for breakfast, they have the prefixed breakfast packages(very HK styled) that include a beverage, meal, and milked toast. I come here often, I just love how quick the service /food comes out and how I can order basically anything large or small to satisfy my appetite!

Location: Elizabeth street, across from the Police Bldg, inside of the shady looking tunnel(Don’t be afraid, it just looks shady but there are tons of goodies to eat inside) Price: Inexpensive, CASHONLY, approx. 3.75−5.25 per entrée, approx. 9 per person here including drink Cuisine: HK Style Café eats, which means street eats from HK, and some fusion style(Chinese and American) eats(i.e., Baked Cheese porkchops over fried rice) The best of the best here: Bfast: 1.(Fon twan — Rice Ball with Fried Crueller and radish and fried sweet pork(looks like brown armpit hair, but I promise it tasts good) 2. Chinese pancake with slices of 5-spice beef: Perfectly fried pancake on the outside with soft, melt in your mouth beef(Add some white pepper and hot sauce, and it’s out of this world) Lunch/Dinner: 1. Kimchee fried rice w/ham(I like to add pinapples for $ 1): So flavorful and better than most korean places actually 2. Baked porkchop over spagetti(chinese style): Expect the spagetti to be more sweet and tangy than your traditional sauce, afterall its HK fusion Drinks: 1. Best, I repeat the Best Ice Jelly drink — It’s a slushy, for gods sake it’s a slushy! — So good going down on a hot, miserable summer day

This review is only going to be about their slushy ice drink. I think their food at Coluck is subpar. I had Coluck’s oxtail over rice here and it was awful. I rather go to 69 Chinese Restaurant for their Oxtail Stew over Rice which by the way is AWESOME. SO because I would never eat their food again at Coluck, this review is only going to be about Coluck’s icee dessert drinks. I think they have the best slushy icee drinks in all of Chinatown. I love it. They have things like red bean, lychee, pineapple, watermelon ices. during the summer months. It is not shaved ice. They have something that looks like a soft serve ice cream machine that makes the ice into a slushy consistency. It’s sweet so I am thinking they they add sugar into the ice. The fruit goes into the bottom of the cup and they plop some serve serve icee on top and depending on the flavor you got. red bean for example. they pour some evaporated milk on top. YUMMO. Summers are made better with chinese icees! «BING».

I used to come to this Hong Kong-style café all the time as teenager for cheap eats and snacks. I stopped in again over the weekend with fellow Unilocaler Nat B. since he was curious about the place, and I’m happy to report that it’s still the same! The menu is extensive and might not make sense to someone that isn’t familiar with Hong Kong-style fare. Nat seemed straight up confused to find both traditional Chinese dishes as well as not-so-traditional and westernized Chinese dishes– like curly fries, club sandwiches, spaghetti, and… New England clam chowder? Yes, the menu might seem strange, but for the most part everything is delicious. My favorite items come from the dessert section(OBVIOUSLY.) Grass Jelly with Red Bean & Ice Cream is winning, and who doesn’t like Toast with Sweetened Condensed Milk & Butter? …Although they were skimpy on the Sweetened Condensed Milk, I can’t really complain because it cost $ 1. As a matter of fact… I don’t think there’s anything on the menu that costs more than $ 5!

This place has been here for many years. It is located inside that tunnel between Bowery and Elizabeth. It is best described as being a Chinese diner — it offers American influenced Hong Kong food. The food can be a little oily and filled with msg but it is very fast, very cheap, and filling. Some of the things that I tried here before that I liked are: kimchi spam fried rice, beef satay rice, curry pineapple fried rice, and their spam/egg/bacon sandwiches. Everything here is under $ 5.00! They also serve these nice fruit slushy drinks they called icees that come in flavors like red bean and lychee.

I used to come here in high school because the food is good and the prices are low. I stopped in the other day with a friend and am happy to see that nothing has changed over the years. The food is still decent and the prices are still low! I had the fried pork chop over rice. It’s not the Taiwanese style pork chop over rice. Their pork chop over rice consists of two fried pork chops, rice and a blob of veggies and minced pork over the rice. It’s good and filling. The beef with egg over rice is also yummy. They have a wide selection of rice and noodle dishes so you have lots of options. It’s a good place if you’re looking for a quick bite and don’t want to spend a lot of money on lunch or dinner.

It’s been about half a month or a year since I last came to this restaurant with anyone. Before I knew the name of this restaurant, I used to refer to it as «The Tunnel Place». Great & Inexpensive food/place. Something I don’t like is they give your water/tea in paper cups which is never really enough because what if you drink a lot of water/tea? Anyways, to me… the restaurant is like a chinese diner so to speak because you can literally have«breakfast» for«lunch» or «dinner»…no lies! They have a wide range of foods from Western appetizers to Chinese appetizers to pasta to Chinese pancakes to Ramen Noodles & the list goes on. I’ve had friends or a few people who told me the service or food was horrible but overall I think it’s good at least when I go there is good. I highly recommend the«Fried Stuffed Cruller» and«Ham & Egg ramen noodles» and«Chinese Pancake»…totally worth it! You can order a lot of food and still it’d be inexpensive. So. the next time you want a Western/American cuisine and someone else wants Asian cuisine, this be-ith the perfect spot! Inexpensive & Tasty & Variety of Food, what can go wrong?

When I was a kid I used to come here a lot because it was my favorite place in the world. But returning here, not a kid anymore(maybe mentally I am still a kid), but this place isn’t as great as it used to be. But after many years of coming here, I always still get a cup of cold soy milk or red bean ice. That will never change no matter how old I am as long as this place is still around. I also love their sticky rice, loved it more when I was a kid, but now it’s just okay. This place brings back a lot of childhood memories and reminds me of how old I am now. Kinda sad, but in a funny way, so ironic.

CoLuck! What a gem you are! I’m so happy to have friends that know about you, and have introduced me to you! It’s a diner style restaurant, no frills whatsoever, but totally worth the trip, especially if you are tight on cash monies! The ladies don’t really speak a lick of English but you get by by pointing and knodding. Haha! I always get the panfriend noodles and peking pork chops over rice! YUMMMY! I don’t know exactly what it is, but the rice for the pork chops is sooooo tasty, it’s like made in bacon fat or something like that, haha, I don’t know don’t quote me on that ;) but whatever it is it is YUUUMMMMOOOLLLA! Remember, this place is not fancy, it’s not extravagent, it’s totally a no frills but cheap and yummy place! Check it out! But they are only open from 8am to 8pm, so go early :)

I used to come here for a quick meal with my friends after school. I’d order the ham and egg over rice and a few appetizers and share them with my friends. I just miss those days of just sharing-away. The price range in Coluck is very reasonable. I’d definitely stop by and buy a «BING» aka slush drink when Summer 2010 hits. By the way, the CLUBSANDWICH is very DELISH! You just gotta try it.

We shared a light afternoon meal at Coluck, a Chinese restaurant in the tunnel near Bowery. My friend ordered for us — Chinese sure comes in handy when ordering here, but isn’t mandatory(I hope). We shared a few items, highlights being fish balls — add chili sauce! — and small tea sammiches of the breakfast variety: think buttery toast, ham and eggs.(I could easily eat twenty.) Washed everything down with a refreshing lychee icey and tried an ice cream icey combo which was pretty good — will have to get that next time I’m in town. Quick, cheap eats. Try them out!
