We came here following a show and wanted an intimate experience in an Italian restaurant and that is just what we experienced. The menu has many standard Italian fare options and the service is top-notch and efficient. Despite the fact that you are in between some of the busiest neighborhoods of Manhattan you feel like you can have a quiet conversation and not be disturbed in this dimly lit spot. From the pasta with white clam sauce to a pasta in parmesan cream sauce we couldn’t go wrong when ordering off this menu. Cheers!

My wife and I tried Da Tommaso last night based on the recommendation of our hotel concierge. We were a little nervous picking a restaurant but we were very pleased with this choice. We had the caprese to start. My wife had a salad and the fettuccini and raved about it. I had the tortellini and it was phenomenal. Nice small dining room with a comfortable feel. Reasonable prices. Overall we would definitely recommend it.

I wanted something light for late-night dinner at work and was craving carpaccio, so decided to try Da Tomasso. I ordered three small items-Carpaccio, caprese and insalata di mare. Well, it was extremely underwhelming. The carpaccio was smothered in a very tangy pesto sauce. The insalata di mare was very vinegary. The mozzarella was definitely not house made, tasted like fresh mozzarella from supermarket and it they poured balsamic vinegar on it, the cheap kind, not the good stuff.

The homemade ravioli was the best I’ve had. Not heavy and fresh ingredients. The carpaccio had a garlic basil pesto sauce to die for. The service was impeccable. True Italian eatery. Highly recommend!

By far my most favorite authentic Italian restaurant in the theatre district for the past 22 years. Excellent quality pasta, fish and meats and they will even cater to my vegetarian tastes! 5 star service and excellent wine selection!

Excellent service and fresh made Italian. The ravioli was fresh, the tomatoes were fresher, and the asparagus was amazing. This place is a word of mouth find.

Atrocious service like I’ve never seen. Rude server, rude back server, rude maitre d! Crazy amount of rudeness. Oh, and the food was completely terrible. Mediocre would be generous. I’ve worked in restaurants for years and it’s just not that hard to be so much better than this place. This was the kind of bad experience I will repeat to friends as a dining horror story. Perhaps the worst I’ve ever had.

Veal marsala was amazing, cooked perfect. Ravioli special was homemade cooked with fresh ingredients. Waiters were professional and very attentive.

It’s all handmade and it tastes like it too. My wife had pasta and it was wonderful I had a filet and it was cooked just right The staff was great We had Jungle Jack Hannah and family at our dinner table and we were chatting it up so much that all I remember was it was a divine evening. The restaurant had a lot to do with that as the food and wine were great and the atmosphere was very condusive to making new friends I would recommend this dining establishment highly Visited February 2016

This was a pretty poor dining experience and I’d gone with pretty low expectations – knowing it was a less expensive restaurant in a busy area. While the food was reasonable – not awesome, but acceptable– the service was terrible! I’m unsure if it was because we had an 11yo with us? But… for whatever reason we were not worthy of hearing the specials… or hearing anything about their bar or wine… or anything really… When asked if we wanted wine or a cocktail, when we said yes… I asked about wine and he rattled off all the major wine types… merlot, Chardonnay, etc – no wine list no attempt to sell me a bottle(tho another table got one)…and when we wanted a second glass we had to hold up our empty glass and look forlorn until another waiter came by and gave us a refill. But worse, I’m sure our faces read disappointed when it was clear their standard entrees come with veggie and potato not a side of pasta – but do they offer you a substitution? Do they offer you a paid upgrade? Do they just try to sell you an extra side? No, none of the above… though I swear the waiter offered a swap to the lady behind us… we took their broccoli and potatoes… not exactly what I wanted with my veal tho. And most disappointing… a photo in a review caused us to go – nice looking spaghetti and meatballs. Too bad meatballs aren’t on the menu. Yeah, we won’t go back despite the convenient location. Seemed they would rather we’d never come at all. A little ridiculous given we did have multiple courses and booze… not like we were trying to get by on water and rolls or something…

Not quite what we were expecting. To start off after the warm greeting, we were asked what we’d like to drink. We ordered water. At which point our server’s attitude changed. When he left we overheard him talking to a manager(owner?) whom then told him to serve no matter what since we were paying the bill. My wife’s salad had an unusual taste to it(as though the lettuce was going bad). When we asked for a different salad the attitudes changed more. But when our main courses came out they were quite tasty. We did tip well though as we understand the restaurant biz very thoroughly; even having family in the service industry. Maybe it was a cultural or perhaps regional experience but not quite what we were expecting.

We went here as part of our holiday family outing and truly enjoyed the food, service and comfortable ambiance. The meal was delicious and some with their own special twist like the shrimp appetizer with an orange sauce. All the portions were just the right size. The cannolli was the best I have ever had(and I have had many). The shell was crispy and light and it was over stuffed with amazing filling(enough to share!) The other important note is even though it was the holiday season and in the theater district — they didn’t rush us a bit! It will definitely remain on my list.

The food is great, but what i did not like is the food took long time to be ready. Plus they added 19% tip automatically which really pissed me off. I hate those kind of restaurants who add the tip Automatically.

Nasty, musky, and old. The Italian lurch roams the place and it smells like death. Horrific. Sitting for 10 minutes and no menu. Wow

I took my daughter here for dinner before a show. We are very fussy about our Italian food. All plates were great and the server was happy and helpful. We talk about it often and will return on our next visit.

I have passed by Da Tomaso for years and never actually ate there-I stopped by for lunch and the restaurant was empty. It was a Saturday between theater performances. I ordered a small salad and pollo romana which was chicken in a light brown sauce with proscuitto, peas and artichokes. it was very tasty and the staff was accommodating. It is a small place and would be good for smaller groups. I would recommend and return.

This is the best Italian food I’ve had in America so far. I was a little disappointed that their prices online were cheaper than their in restaurant prices, which could be from them not updating their website. I decided to eat there anyway even though I’m poor because I really enjoy good italian food, and all italian food places in NYC are expensive if you’re not in the little italy area. The waiter kept bugging me about ordering wine so I got a glass of moscato. I think that was the biggest mistake of the lunch because even though it was the best moscato I’ve had in a long time, it also turned out being $ 16 for one glass. I’d say avoid getting wine unless you have a lot of money. Then I asked if they make the pesto in house and he said yes. I was very excited about this because last summer i lived in Genova where pesto was invented. The pasta was delicious, the pesto was fresh and tasted like real italian pesto. I was a little disappointed that it was on spaghetti that came from a box because it was $ 19. Overall, I still give them a 5 stars because their food was the best italian food I’ve had in America. Keep doing what you’re doing Tommaso, but maybe make your pasta dishes cheaper if you use boxed pasta.

An excellent Italian Restaurant. Scallopini and pasta were prepared more rich and creamy than most High-end Italian places I’ve been to in the U.S. And Italy. This is not a home-style, family-style Italian restaurant. Service was some of the best I’ve seen anywhere, attentive and knowledgeable, but unobtrusive. Location is within striking distance of Broadway show venues and Manhattan hotels. Good wine selection. Came Highly recommended by locals who frequent this place. Wide menu selection, sampled My table mates seafood, that was prepared well. I think seafood is a specialty here.

NYC– I had a great experience at this restaurant with my family. The food was delicious and the staff was great. My wife and daughter loved the wait staff–«they r adorable!» Authentic Italian food and service if you know what I mean– in a good way! Pasta fagioli was a bit bland but spiced up with a bit of sausage. Veal saltimboca was thin and tender. The cannoli was spectacular. Will be back next time in NYC!
