Tommy of da Tommy is very friendly and accommodating. His food is authentic and fresh. From the grilled Octopus to Cesare salad and Papadella with asparagus, all excellent. The bar make a great Aperol Spritz too. A hidden location on Bedford St in west village but a great find. Call ahead on weekends as the restaurant is small but comfortable.

Just had dinner there. The service was great, but more importantly the food was excellent.

My friend and I dined at Da Tommy Osteria this evening and had a very positive experience. The restaurant is cozy, quiet and low key and is ideal for a date night or to have a relaxed meal. Our waitress was attentive, thoughtful, and pleasant. I selected the octopus as my appetizer. My palate did a happy dance once I took a bite! It was perfectly grilled and had exquisite flavor. While I read that Da Tommy is known for their pastas, I enjoy seafood and ordered the branzino. My decision was the correct one. The skin was crispy and the fish was light and flaky. The dish came with vegetables assorted around the plate, leaving the diner to create their own desired bite. This restaurant is one to dine in. I intend on being a repeat customer.

Great Italian restaurant near my office(West Village). I went with 2 office colleagues for lunch around 12:30pm. Nice décor, comfortable atmosphere. The owner Tommaso is very friendly. We started off with da Tommy meatballs and zucchini chips as appetizers. Both were amazing and wished we had time to try other apps(next time we will). For lunch — Tagliatelle Bolognese Ground Beef, Veal, Tomato blend was incredibly tasty. I used up all the bread scooping up the excess sauce. Also tried the Trifle al Pesto Tommoso sold us on the award winning Genovese-style Pesto by Chef Alfio Longo — a winner in our book too. For Desserts — Cioccolato Flan, the dark chocolate lava cake, and the Pannacotta were spot on. All the food came out quickly — followed up with Tomosso checking in on us. Always looking for a good place to eat. This place is on my top 10 list. Will be back again(for lunch and dinner) and will spread the word with friends and co-workers.

An amazing wine selection and an adorable restaurant. So why only three stars? Mediocre pizza. And I wanted to get the carbonara but the waiter told me to get the mushroom truffle parpadelle instead. Since the brought out the carbonara by accident, I tried it and turns out it was better.

Very cozy little Italian restaurant on a quiet street in the west village. Loved the ambience and the service. Food Reviews… Complimentary bread & oil = delicious Bruschetta appetizer = delicious (My friend and I split 2 pasta dishes) Pesto pasta = did not meet my expectations, especially since it is award winning(bland) Cacio e Pepe pasta= better than the pesto pasta but still lacking flavor Tiramisu and Crème Brûlée = delicious My friend got the bolognese pasta and it was delicious(reminded me of the sauce I had in Italy), if you like bolognese I recommend that over the pesto and cacio e Pepe. I would come back and just order a different main dish. Overall a good experience.

Charming Da Tommy scores a home run food wise– open for lunch with a $ 16 prix fixe menu of a pasta and salad or pasta and dessert. Went for lunch. Ate: Manhattan salad Spaghetti Carbonara Lava cake– not included $ 10 extra Crusty bread with lemony olive oil is oh so good. The salad with kale ricotta and avocado is tasty. The Carbonara is pasta of the Gods– perfection! Not to be outdone by the chocolate lava cake which is a light soufflé with a dollop of ice– cream and is superstar worthy– one of the two best desserts I’ve eaten so far in 2016.

My friend and I went for a Gilt deal which is very good. We got 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. For appetizers, we got grilled octopus and zucchini cake. I do like the a little bit char on the octopus which adds the flavor to it. The zucchini cake is amazing. It is warm, soft and flavorful. We got Bronzino al forno & cacciucco as entrees. I love the presentation of the Bronzino. Everything is placed in a pot and it’s pretty like an art work. The fish is cooked just right. It’s crispy on the outside and juicy & soft on the inside. The roasted veggies with it also tasted great. The cacciucco is also a great dish. It is a seafood stew. The seafood is fresh and the soup has all the best flavors from the seafood. I would come back to try their award-winning pesto sauce because of the great dining experience we got.

It’s near work so I decided to check this cute little Italian spot for lunch. They had a 2 course lunch prix fixe for $ 16! Just $ 4 extra you can get a glass of wine(cheers to that!). Loved the cheesiest Cacio e Pepe I’ve ever had. Freshly made Roman style pasta. Rightfully al dente. So good.

After hearing rave reviews about the pesto, I went with my boyfriend(worlds biggest pesto fanatic) and his Law school buddies/girlfriends to da tommy Osteria in the west village. A place heralded to have the best pesto in NYC. The ambience is really great, dark small and cozy. The waitress was super friendly and took our order for drink straight away. Immediately after serving the wine she took our order for apps and mains. We usually prefer to order mains a bit later but she said they had a big party coming in. For apps we got the: zucchini cake with truffle fondue — sort of mushy and didn’t taste like truffle meatballs — good but slightly under seasoned Da tommy Pizette — the Parma ham on it was totally delicious Sausage broccoli rabe — really good As they took our apps away they put our mains down. It seemed pretty rushed. The portions were tiny and my plate had substantially more pasta on it than anyone else. The pesto pasta was not seasoned well and bland. The cacio e Pepe was apparently amazing and the carbonara looked good as well. As soon as we finished they stripped our table clean and plopped down the dessert menus. For dessert we got a bunch of the lava cakes which were heavenly. All in all: service was rushed, stick with the ‘house specialty’ dishes, prices were fair.

You get the true Italian experience here. The waiters are true Italians(like from Italy… not Italian American), the people hanging out at the bar are speaking Italian, and the service you receive is on «Italy time.» While the servers are attentive, they definitely are in no rush. We had to remind them multiple times about the drinks we ordered before they were brought to us. It’s definitely forgiveable offense, but the fact that it happened 3 times made me think this wasn’t a coincidence. The vibe is fun and hip, great for a meal/drinks before going out. Our Cacio e Pepe was very al dente and pretty yummy… but I’ve had better at Da Marcella 2 blocks east. Definitely recommend if you want a taste of hip Italy, but not if you’re in any kind of a hurry!

I went there a few weeks ago with a few friends and, although we had to wait a little while since it was Saturday night, they accomodated up at the bar and offered us a drink. Dinner was fabulous, we tried 2 kind of pasta, pizza and some octopus. All great and fresh. My favorite? Cacio e pepe pasta, just as good as the one I used to have in Italy. Loved it and made me feel at home. Bravo Tommy. Torno presto

Authentic Italian cuisine, this is a wonderful example of a true osteria. If you’ve ever been to Italy, you’ll find much appreciation in this place. The pastas are made in-house. If you typically get cacio e pepe when you’re out, this place has some of the best I’ve ever tried. Everything here is #noBSfood

Da Tommy Osteria is a brand new, casual Italian spot in the West Village that you are going to fall in love with. Occupying the space that used to be Abbotegga, Da Tommy Osteria is on its way to carving a niche for itself with its truly heart warming rustic menu and cozy tavern feel. Chef Alfio Longo(ex Circo) is oversees the kitchen which offers modern takes on classic Italian tavern fare. All the food here feels familiar but yet distinguishes itself in its simple and subtle tastes. Some of my favorites of the evening were the«Zucchini Cake, Truffle Fondue» — a rather unusual dish and the«Verdure Pizzette» a 10″ pizza, thin crust made w/marinara, goat cheese and seasonal veggies. The pastas here are a must try. Many of them are made in-house and are served perfectly al dente. The«Trofie al Pesto» is an award-winning Genovese-style pesto by Chef Alfio Longo and is a must try dish. The menu at Da Tommy Osteria is ideal for sharing plates which pair beautifully with an extensive cocktail & Italian wine list. I have a feeling that Da Tommy Osteria will soon become a neighborhood favorite in the West Village.

This place was phenomenal! My boyfriend and I decided to come here for a date night I believe on a Friday/Saturday night and it was only a quick train ride coming from Hoboken(Get off at Christopher St and walk for a few minutes). The place was initially quiet and filled up immediately. The inside has a great ambiance and the food was phenomenal. For an appetizer we had the meatballs, perfect! For my main course I had pasta which was perfectly seasoned, cut, and cooked through just the right amount with a great sauce. You could tell the pasta was fresh and I feel as if I can still taste it. My boyfriend had chicken which he also said was incredible. As if we weren’t happy enough, stopping several times between our meal to say how much we loved the food it was even better when we ordered dessert. I had the most perfect cremee brûlée, perfectly crisp top layer but the spoon broke through to this incredibly creamy, fresh and light inside. My boyfriend also would like to add how good the coffee was. Overall GREAT find, we will be back soon!

Came here with a friend two days ago for lunch. We tried the grilled octopus, crab cake, steak and their Trofie Al Pesto. Everything was great and tasteful. We asked for the steak to be medium rare but i think it came out to be medium done, no biggie tho. The waitress was great and checked up on us constantly. Would definitely come back again and have already told many of my co-workers to come try it out! :D

Great little atmosphere. Lovely owner. Unfortunately the food didn’t match the lovely décor. We started with fresh kale salad and mediocre meatballs. Ordered one of those little pizzas which was quite tasty. We wanted the pesto, but they had run out. We ordered the mushroom and asparagus pasta which was good but not great. And we added on a caccio e Peppi dish — it’s a simple dish but hard to make. This time around lacked in flavor(confirmed by our Italian guest). Wanted to love the meal but lacked in taste.
Fonomenal food! Great, friendly authentic italian vibe and service. Can’t wait to be back!!!

I worked nearby at the time when I first heard about this place, as I’ve been to their Milan outpost. It was DELICIOUS, and coming back from a 4-week tour of Italy, I was curious to see if «authentic» can be found in NY. YES. The food and ambience is JUST like how it is in Italy – food’s obviously incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked, and the atmosphere/staff’s warm and welcoming. I’ve been here so many times, even through slight menu changes, but the standouts are the Zucchini Cake with Fondue, Grilled/Charred Octopus, Tonno, the Kale Salad(OMG) is probably one of my favorite kale salads I’ve ever had(kale, crunchy almonds, ricotta salata, avocado, eggs – literally 5 different textures, and I’m ALL about texture), ALL the pastas(especially the pestos), and a sinfully delicious Tiramisu. I’ve even gotten tiramisu on the house for my birthday! Sad to read that negative review below about the corner table that the girl refused and didn’t like – it’s actually the best table in the house, I specifically requested it for my birthday post-dinner drinks and desserts, as it’s in a sort-of alcove and affords some privacy. I’ve also been to their garden outside which they cover with a tent, which makes for cool summers and no sunlight directly in my eyes(makes for good photos). I no longer work nearby but I’ve been back maybe 8 times since? They’ve hosted aperitifs, with delicious Italian wines/cocktails, with free spread of meats, cheeses, breads, etc. The staff’s great as well, so sweet – true Italians :)

Da Tommy captures the essence of a West Village Italian restaurant, and has all the essentials — cozy atmosphere, quality food, employees with authentic Italian accents and an extensive wine list(primarily Italian, understandably). I went on a Wednesday evening(7PM) and had 3 of my friends with me. We ordered the brussel sprouts with bacon and zucchini flan for our appetizers, and the squid ink, bolognese, pesto, and caccio e pepe for our main pasta dishes. The food came out very quickly, which was more than welcomed by us as we were all hungry! As all other reviews mention, definitely do not miss the zucchini flan! Different, yet DELICIOUS. My friends were also huge fans of the brussel sprouts(perfectly crispy!) The pastas were quite good. I think the group consensus was our favorite to be the bolognese. I also really liked the pasta that came with the pesto as it was chewy. The squid ink was a bit too al dente for my preference but the seafood that came with it was cooked perfectly. The reason why I docked one star was because the pasta dishes were less than lukewarm in temperature when we ate them. One of the restaurant’s redeeming qualities were the watermelon cocktails, which were super fun and delicious. We also ordered a bottle of the Barbera D’Asti, which complemented our pastas well. Service was very attentive, although the owner and(possibly bartender?) came over to us throughout the meal and asked the same questions. I do appreciate that they just wanted to make sure we were taken care of. All in all, I’d recommend as a group dinner where you want to be able to talk to your friends and don’t want to be fighting people for elbow room. Very accommodating and prices are reasonable(although our dinner racked up!)

I love New York and I love little restaurants that you sometimes have to wait in on a busy Saturday night — I also am skeptical of any 1-star reviews I see for a restaurant when all of the other reviews are glowing — but after my nightmare experience last night with Da Tommy, I’m going to have to be that person. I was so excited to try this place, and the food did look great, but I’ve never experienced such exceptionally bad service, and never encountered such rude attitudes from any other authentic Italian restaurants in NYC — these owners have earned the bad rating. I called and made a dinner reservation for 6 people for last night(11⁄7) on 10⁄31(a week prior) and I spoke with a woman who said it would be no trouble to have us at 8pm. I mentioned that we were celebrating my mom’s birthday as I saw in another review they were very accommodating for another birthday group recently. When we arrived last night, right at 8pm, I believe it was the owner who greeted us, and he seemed to recognize the reservation name, but said there would be a wait because they were running a little behind. When I asked how long, he said 10 minutes, so we grabbed a seat at their little bar to wait. A few of us ordered drinks, and after 15 – 20 minutes, I realized they weren’t even close to being able to seat us. The place was packed and many of the larger tables had just received entrees. So on my way to use the restroom, I asked one of the women working there if she had any idea what happened with our reservation, and she quickly dismissed me and walked by, saying sorry, I don’t know. We continue to wait, now 30 – 40 min in, and when I ask the man who greeted us again what the issue was, he said«opentable is killing us tonight,» and walked away. I start to worry a little, as we are celebrating my mom’s birthday, and this is really putting a damper on things. Eventually, another man came over and apologized, and said they would do their best to accommodate us asap. I see that they start setting up a four person table right next to the bathroom/kitchen, and when I said to him that this really wasn’t going to work for 6 people(and also wanted to say that this was the worst table in the place, especially after having a reservation), the original guy came over to say that, again, they were having trouble catching up on online reservations, and that we should have showed up earlier if we wanted a better seat… So we obviously just walked out. After not being offered a sincere apology, or even a free drink for our wait and their screw up, and instead a makeshift table and really rude remarks, we were done. There are too many other great restaurants in NYC to waste time with owners that aren’t even gracious to their patrons and accuse them of doing something wrong, after we made a reservation ahead of time! They were a hot mess. We did end up saving the evening by heading to Village Prime around the corner, where they gave us complimentary champagne for my mom’s birthday and really just welcomed us with open arms. The food is probably decent at Da Tommy, but I can only vouch for this horrendous experience there — so keep in mind next time you’re planning something special or believe that reservations actually mean you have a table reserved. **In response to the owner’s response below, again, no one said the words, «we would like to offer you a complimentary drink» when we were waiting. We ordered drinks, and we didn’t pay for them before we walked out because we were so upset by the service. Also, while the table that was offered to us may be the«owner’s favorite», again it was only acceptable for 4 people, not 6. No thanks on your offer to return.

Da Tommy is a cute little Italian spot. The food is amazing. The place was jam packed on a Saturday night so you know the food has to be good. Everything was delicious. The tartufo pizzette was one of our favorites. Their pasta dishes were on point. I recommend this spot. I also like that they play house music.

Wow finally a great authentic Italian osteria in the village !! I live the atmosphere and the Italian vibe that you can breath when you cross the door! Tommaso is the owner, native Italian and Alfio Longo the great chef beyond this new Italian spot. Max is the manager. What else: great people, wonderful location and AMAZING food!!! See the picture I attached. Tonnarelli cacio e Pepe!!! Mouthwatering. The same quality and flavor I had in a restaurant in Rome last summer. Great job.
