Dallas BBQ

You have got to be kidding me. This spot was fantastic. Whenever I visit New York I’d stop in either for brunch or dinner. The food, atmosphere and service were great. Now I’ll have to find another Dallas BBQ. Sad.

Service was OK. Went with 2 other people. had good poisoning. 2 of us were throwing up within hours of leaving. Would never go back. Contacted the restaurant about it and they never even responded.

I can’t believe they closed this breaks my heart. I’ve been going here my entire life. Now I’ll have to go across town

This location closed on Jan 1, 2015. I had so many great memories here. Before I became a veggie, I loved their fried shrimp with tartar sauce, humongous caesar salad, & fried chicken wings with BBQ sauce. I also liked the onion loaf, cornbread, & the Texas-​sized piña colada wild berry. I’m so sad. They will be missed!

As long as I will step foot on this earth I will never go to this or any Dallas BBQ again.
Food was subpar at best & cold. Our server had an attitude & to top it off I got sick. No need to go into details as to what happened but it tasted just as bad coming back.
PS. We were a party of 4 & we all got sick. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

I usually love going to Dallas BBQ, but the one at this location needs a serious makeover. Not only was the restaurant located in a basement and sub-​basement, the interior was very shady. The tiled floors and old carpeting made it look like an old Chinese restaurant. The design of the ceiling was also strange. Our waitress had a sarcastic humor, but it made everyone in our table feel uncomfortable. I think she was very disappointed that only 2 out of 6 of us ordered drinks. She kept coming back and asking if anyone wanted a drink. The food however, was great. I had the sticky wings and strawberry daiquiri.
During the middle of our meal, the table next to us started a fight with the manager. The guy yelled at the manager for being racist and threatened to cut him. Then, the whole table got up and left without paying. A few minutes later, one of the guys came back and yelled at the manager some more.
So… maybe try going to the Dallas BBQ in Times Square or St. Marks just to be SAFE.

I always wanted to visit this place, and it was exaclty what I wanted, I ordered the pork ribs and they were fab. Give it a try.

It was my 1^st time & last time there. My schedule is tight so I ordered my food to b deliver. My food NEVER came because the delivery person couldn’t find the address on the same block. I missed my lunch time. I decided to collect my order. However my order was ready to go with my three of my side orders NOT included. After I left I realized my order was INCOMPLETE. I called & the receptist was EXTREMELY RUDE. POOR & TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I WOULD NOT B RETURNING TO THAT LOCATION. 10÷13÷14. They are no longer open for business

At the time I went it was a very nice atmosphere and fast service. As always, Dallas BBQ is reasonably priced and I would only eat in. If you’re expecting casual food this is the place to be. But it you’re expecting good quality food, it may not be for you. You can’t go wrong with the jumbo wings and fried tempura. The baked chicken is usually dry and ribs don’t have a lot of meat to it, but thats how BBQ operates and it hasn’t failed them yet as the customer gets what s/​he pays for.

This was my first time at the Dallas bbq. I got the pulled pork sandwich with fries. It was really good. The server that I had was good. I went in when the opened so as you can imagine it wasn’t that busy in there. So I noticed that he was helping out to clean. That didn’t bother me because time to lean, time to clean. What bothered me was that there was 2 or 3 other waiters (about the age of 18 – 30) who were standing around about 25 feet away from me who were constantly dropping the f bomb. One of them even went on so far and said about 3 times a derogatory name for African-​Americans. I will not go back to this restaurant.

This is for takeout only
Had takeout several times and during the last several times, I noticed the lack of meat on the ribs. I thought my last two orders were fluke but last night decided to look at them before leaving the store.
Sure enough it was small ribs with little meat and plenty of sauce.
I think for takeout and delivery orders they give you almost meatless bones as most people will not go to the trouble of leaving their home and traveling back to Dallas to complain or address it.
Luckily I looked and the staff member at this place was indignant and told me «I don’t control that»
So after getting my money back swore off this place for takeout/​delivery. Maybe with dining in as an option, they must get the meatier pieces as they are on the spot and can easily complain

We went for the frozen drinks and just to get a quick bite! The frozen drinks my friends had were really good but my frozen margarita wasn’t the best!: /
The best part was the Honey Wings, they were really big and perfectly season so sweet! Oh my need to find me a Dallas BBQ in South Florida!
The service was ok but I do have to say the place was super packed! ;)

Save yourself the trouble and walk over to the one on the east side.
The food is regular however the service was awful. When we first arrived we were a party of five and the waiter screwed up everyone’s drink order. When we told him he had an attitude about it. We placed our order and ordered an appetizer. The appetizer never came, the worst part is the waiter never came to check on us so we were not able to tell him. He finally came about an hour later after we were halfway done with our food. Once again an attitude … the food order was messed up as well which was super frustrating but we just dealt with it. Some of us ordered more drinks after that another hour went by before he came back again!!! Horrible experience.

I ordered a cheeseburger with a side salad. The cheeseburger was decently sized, though I thought the salad was a tad small. Both were delicious. I ate at the bar and the bartenders were both very nice.
I was somewhat disappointed with how long it took for me to get my food. My biggest complaint is actually the bathrooms, they are extremely small and cramped. They were also pretty disgusting when I visited ³⁄₂₂: paper towels everywhere, no paper towels in the dispenser (there was just a roll lying around), and dirty floors.
In summary: Food and service are pretty good; wait time and facilities — not so much.

For anyone who is a regular at Dallas BBQ’s or knows this place really well… you know Dallas BBQ’s is not known for the best food in the world and not even the best service or décor at times either… we ALL come here for the Texas sized drinks! Whether it’s a Blue Hawaiin, Pineapple Crush or Bulldog Margarita, the Texas sized drinks are what draws patrons here and it is definitely worth it… especially after a long day at work or just hanging out with a group of friends.
Always the go to spot when you want to get «nice» quick and easy… lol

Tacky décor — like incredibly tacky. I’m not prissy about that stuff at all but the inside of the restaurant didn’t know what it was. The architecture said Italian restaurant, the wall murals said Indian casino, the paper menus on the table said Waffle House, and the TVs on the wall played commercials and a skinny white lady dancing sexy with a fire-​breathing dinosaur that turned into a bottle of barbecue sauce? I’m serious.
The food was cheap and it tasted like cafeteria food. No free refills on soda.
Cheap prices earn a star, and the ranch dressing that came with my side salad was the best ranch I’ve ever had, so that gets a star too.
Skip this place, go to chirping chicken a few blocks up Amsterdam instead.

After a long visit to the Museum of Natural History, we turned away from a ridiculously long line at Shake Shack.
And so we found Dallas BBQ .
For $ 10.99 I got a lump of pulled pork as a sandwich and a mountain of fries. No unsweetened iced tea. The pork was pretty good, the fries nothing special. Kinda pricey, in my opinion, for chain-​like food but the area is costly. I know there are other locations in the city.
The hostess was very aggressive to our party even though it wasn’t the least bit busy at 11:45am. She totally threw attitude to my cousin to close up her stroller as another party was coming in without a please or a smile or anything. I’m very sensitive about these situations and usually side with the servers but this time we didn’t start it. Our server was ok, but not very present. She only stopped by once or twice. She seemed confused about refilling water. I’m not exactly sure what was going on there. The busboy was the highlight of service as he was sweet to my son and stopped to collect plates and check up on our dishes.
It seems they’re used to tourists and quick service that requires no frills since they’ll never see anyone twice. Well, I’ll definitely be skipping this place in the future as well.

This is our second time at a Dallas BBQ. It will def be our last. I really don’t understand how they are growing. The food is horrible. I am not a small man and I barely ate. I would go so far as to say it is disgusting.
The service was fine, noting outstanding. There are many great BBQ places in NYC. Do yourself a favor, skip this chain and go to the smaller guys.

This review is a long time coming. First off, since the statute of limitations has long expired, I want to apologize for that time in the 90’s when my lunch party dined and dashed. Never leave a table of 12 teenagers (the only table in the house) alone for 15 minutes, after they are all finished eating, while you have an entire staff meeting downstairs. We didn’t so much dine and dash as got bored while waiting to pay and walked out. In any case, someone should always be at the door/​hostess station.
That said, you have more than made it all back because I have ordered from you 100’s of times over the years. When I lived a few blocks away I ordered from you at least 2 – 3 times a month. To say that I only exist on this earth today because of your (at that time) $ 5 take out chicken is not a lie. Only a very, very few times was the delivery order ever wrong or the food not spot-​on.
We even had one of our kids birthday parties there, and it went very well. Now I live out of the delivery zone but happily pay the extra delivery fee when I need my bbq fix. Whenever I dine-​in I’m up for a Texas size frozen margarita. I don’t recall any bad service from my dine-​ins, but the place is very large and often full of that element, so I order more than dine-​in.
My favorites are the baby back ribs, pulled pork sandwich, crispy wings (huge), crispy shrimp and the corn bread and French fries. The rotisserie take-​out chicken is tasty, usually juicy, and imho even now at $ 8, still the best food value on the UWS. Good going Dallas BBQ. I hope you are there for another 30 years.

I had been to the location on times sq before, so I knew the food already and that I like it, especially the cornbread. This is more a review for the place itself — I was quite disappointed, as I just looked old and a bit battered. My not-​so-​good impression might also have to do with the table we were seated at: all I could see was the kitchen and the stairway to the restrooms, not so charming. All in all, the service was really quick and our waitress was nice. So, a solid three star rating, but I honestly prefer the times square location.
