Sadly one of my favorite hang outs of all time in Hell’s Kitchen is now is closed. I love you mac n cheese. I love you ambiance. I’m sorry you had to close your doors. They had a great happy hour at the bar. It was always busy, and I recognized some of the same staff over the many years I was a patron. I will truly miss this place.

A couple of my co-workers stumbled on the Delta Grill for dinner, and I couldn’t be happier that they did! Home cooked southern food like jambalaya, brisket, BBQ salmon and plenty more. You have to order the pulled pork — andouille sausage macaroni and cheese as an appetizer. Wow. I had the special, which was BBQ beef brisket, and a side of jambalaya mashed potatoes. Yes, all of the meats and spices of jambalaya, but with mashed potatoes. Almost as good as the mac and cheese! The co-workers had salmon — two orders of cedar plank salmon with BBQ apples and one order of salmon with jambalaya fried rice. Everybody left happy! A few drinks and our bill was right at $ 50 per person with tip, so it wasn’t too expensive, either. Enjoy!

When we found out that Delta Grill in Hell’s Kitchen will finally close its door to the public, after serving Southern cuisine for so many years, we immediately made a reservation. Our group of eight were seated immediately on a long communal table. Our waiter served us home made muffins to nibble while taking our orders. We agreed to share the deep fried Crawfish popcorn served with Remoulade sauce it was paired well with a modest bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. For my main entrée, I chose Chef Bobby Bouyer’s BBQ Salmon served with Crawfish fried rice and spinach. It was flavourful! The fish was seasoned perfectly well. It was a wonderful dinner. Thank you Delta Grill for a truly decent Southern and Creole cuisine experience.

Excellent service. Delicious food if a little on the pricy side BUT definitely worth it. The catfish Lafitte with succoutash was an out of this world, make you want to kiss the cook experience! Very flavorful and spicy without being too much so or too salty. Dessert… Bourbon Pecan Pie a la mode. Best pecan pie I have ever tasted. Made the«good» decision to split one which ultimately I regretted because it was so good.

I love this place! The New Orleans vibe is fun! The Bayou Breeze drink is delicious. The food was really good too. The dirty rice had just the right amount of spice and the cheese grits were very creamy. We came for brunch and then returned for dinner!

Considering how highly I reviewed this place over a year ago, I’m so sad that I had to do a negative one this time around. For our anniversary weekend festivities, me and my boyfriend decided to come to our favorite restaurant to celebrate. They promptly seated us in this little back room that they have and while we thought it was nice, cozy and intimate, we soon realized we should’ve asked to be seated elsewhere. It took about 15 minutes for someone to come take our order and when someone did come by, the waiter was abrupt and didn’t even give us his name or tell us the specials. He came and went within 2 seconds. Our food took nearly 45 minutes to arrive. Absolutely absurd. The food was spot on though. That’ll never change. To get the check was another 10 minutes but that’s only because my boyfriend got up to get someone’s attention which should never be the case. My tip to delta grill is that If you’re going to have a back room for diners, pay attention to them. Forgetting them is shitty and makes the experience crappy. As for diners, if they offer to seat you there — ASKTOSITSOMEWHEREELSE!

Hard to find the real deal around these parts, but Delta Grill did a pretty excellent job bring the NoLA vibe to NYC. I obviously had to have a hurricane a) because it’s a NoLA bar and b) because it was on happy hour(think $ 5). The free bread was an awesome surprise. I must not be going to fancy joints lately because it seems to be a luxury to get free bread these days. In the basket there’s also corn muffins which my date devoured. I tried the shrimp po boy which was surprisingly delicious. Definitely a nice causal spot in an otherwise touristy area.

Solid 3.5 rating… Great place to try crawfish! I had been wanting to come to Delta Grill on a Friday night to try their crawfish boil and I’m glad a chance because it was delicious. We ordered the 1.5lbs portion was more more than enough for portion for two. The crawifish was well seasoned, tasty, a little too spicy for my amateur palate but didn’t stop me from eating most of it. The order came with Andouille sausage, potatoes and corn. I would also suggest the fried green tomatoes(two words: sooooo gooood). The place has a good selection of Abita beers and I really liked the Purple Haze(not being a huge beer drinker, I found it to be very light and refreshing with a nice raspberry taste to it). The place: nothing special about the place, looks like your typical bar with good spacing for tables. I do have to say, I don’t get why there’s a column/pole right in the middle of the entrace. soo odd(I’d be surprised if no none has collided with it before).pretty good service.

We were hungry after an all day of car show. Delta grill New Orleans southern comfort fit the bill. There were plenty of crowded table. A room full of birthday party. The restaurant wasn’t loud but plenty of ambiance noise. Our server came by to take our orders and drinks. The table looked quizzically should be order the gator bits? Wonder what gator bits taste like. We ended up going for something safe and southern staple… Fried Green tomatoes! What goes with a bowl of Gumbo, Shrimp and Grits and pork po boy… cold glass of beer of course! The meals were huge. It could be easily shared by two people rather than one. While I was hungry. I wasn’t that hungry! The fried green tomatoes where not oily and the spicy gravy gave it a nice heat. The grits were buttery smooth and salted enough to go with the shrimp. The bowl of gumbo was a meal in itself. The hushpuppies were lightly fried and had a sweet buttery cake like consistency. Looks like we got some Southern lovin. Food was satisfying and a table full of friends. Life is good.

This is a pretty and spacious restaurant, but the food and service just aren’t up to par – especially the food. Yeah, I’m just an Asian Yankee, but even I can tell well-cooked Southern dishes from, well, not so well-cooked ones. The Crawfish Etoufee was woefully bereft of its namesake crustacean – the chef compensating, it seems, with an abundance of salt instead. The Crawfish Popcorn was more batter than crawfish, though perhaps the Etoufee should have portended that for us. One of my favorite Southern dishes, the perennial Jambalaya, was so riddled with scallions that it was impossible to discern its actual flavor. It doesn’t help that I hate scallions with a deep and unabiding loathing, and if I ruled the world, they – and mosquitoes – would be eradicated from the planet. Probably the only noteworthy dish was the Jambalaya Mac ‘n’ Cheese, mostly because m&c rarely fails to please. Service was mind-numbingly slow, despite the small number of patrons. Our dinner should have been an easy 1.5 hrs tops, but was stretched to nearly 3 hrs because of our frequently absent server.

The food isn’t bad. It’s not the greatest I’ve ever had, being a born and bred Southerner, but it’s not the worst. I like the salmon, and the catfish tacos(although for $ 17 I feel like I should be getting more than just three corn tacos. Even a side of rice and beans or something would really round the meal out). My rating is based mostly on their service, which is atrocious. Every time I go here, I get the same waiter — you’ll know him if you have him, but he is by and large the worst waiter I’ve ever come across. He takes ages to come by and give you water, then takes another full set of ages to come and take your order. He also doesn’t look at you when you order, as if he’s completely uninterested in what you’re saying and you’ll be lucky if your order comes to you mostly correct. You’ll try to wave him down; he ignores you. I’ve seen my food sit outside the kitchen and get cold while this schmuck is nowhere to be found. I’m a notoriously good tipper, because I know what it’s like to live off tips, but this guy barely deserves 10%. Also I was in there one day when it was snowing and they had the front doors propped open for reasons unknown. The place was freezing and everyone in the restaurant was shivering. I ended up asking the hostess if she could close the doors, and she was like, «sure, no problem!» in a surprised voice. Like why would anyone want to shut the doors when it’s 25 degrees out and snowing? In any case. Delta Grill, bless your heart, but I don’t like you.

I really like this place… been here 3 times. I have family born and raised from Louisiana… so of course I want some good cajun/creole food. Of course the food taste better when I go down south but I know what it should taste like and this restaurant does a decent job. Shrimp Po’boy sandwich: average Catfish: good Seafood Gumbo: good Crawfish popcorn: not tasty at all. :( Hushpuppies: good Mac&Cheese and Fried green tomatoes… those dishes keep me coming back! Omg yummy! This place is pretty good… Don’t forget to get a Abita beer while you are there :)

You just can’t go wrong with brunch here. We stopped in on Sunday afternoon for some buttermilk biscuits and chill conversation. Being from the Mid-South & a big fan of live music, I was delighted to find a live guitarist & bassist serenading the laid-back dining room. Our server Jacob was super sweet and accommodating. He saw me waiting for the restroom by the bar and directed me to another restroom in the side dining room(much bigger and nicer too!). He also took his time with us, which contributed to the warm, laid-back vibe of the place. I tried their twist on Eggs Florentine — on a buttermilk biscuit with some delicious sauce. The eggs were poached hard and not runny — perfect for me, but someone who likes their eggs more runny may need to request them that way. The biscuit was everything it should be — moist and flaky. The guy had French toast — simply delicious. Great food, comfortable ambiance, and Jacob and the live band made it memorable. Good going, Delta Grill.

Basic friendly bar with wood floor. Kristen was a very pleasant and efficient waitress. The Latino gentleman delivering hot sauces and filling water glass was equally pleasant. It was like having two servers. Hostess, ‘Miss Stroudsburg’ Abby, was pinch hitting for the Manager. She really made me feel welcome even after a 12 hour shift. Fried oyster appetizer reminds me of the ‘dusted’ oysters of NOLA. I had them for lunch and returned for late nite snack with a draught Turbo Dog. Also had seafood gumbo at lunch. It proved to be too much food but was very flavorful. Full of shrimp and crawfish and thicker than most I’ve had but made with an excellent dark roux. Shrimp was slightly over cooked for my taste. Staff and laid back ambiance = 5 Food = 31⁄2

We were impressed with the food. Jambalaya was properly spiced and served in a small kettle /large bowl to retain the heat. The serving size is big enough to share. The chicken and vegetables are not diced to small. Many jambalayas dice too finely(in my opinion). It is served with a Creole sauce so, it’s moist. We also had Blackened Catfish Lafitte and liked the succotash on the side. The two dishes went well together. We tried the cole slaw and think there is room for improvement there. Fun, friendly place.

Cajun food that’s pretty good. What I tried here and liked? 1) Fried Oysters: Deep fried oysters marinated in Cajun spices. This was a ‘Today’s special’ on a Sunday. It’s slightly sour, but flavorful and filling. They give about 8 – 9 pieces. 2) Shrimp Etouffe: This is the best dish here I think. Again, like most cajun dishes, flavorful, just enough to satiate your taste buds. 3) Seafood gumbo bowl: Has a strong flavor of okra(lady’s finger) which also makes it slightly slimy. I’d suggest the shrimp Etouffe over this. From the bar menu, we tried ‘Abita Flights’ where you get 4 flavors of Abita beers — Purple Haze, Amber, Turbo Dog and Jockamo. It comes in small 4 cups, each cup twice the size of a shot glass.

We found this place via Unilocal search. They were rated pretty good, it was close to where we were, and we love southern food. ATMOSPHERE: It reminds me of an old wooden shack that belongs on a pier. Very charming and cozy. There’s a good sized bar with TV’s, a separate dining room, and a tiny room that can be had for a small private party. Southern music was in the background. The place was dead during lunch on a Wednesday. MENU: Salads, southern style apps including fried green tomatoes & entrees like deep fried catfish, jambalaya, and po’ boys. FOOD: Corn Bread — Their house bread baked into little muffins. The taste was spot on though a bit dry & crumbly. Crawfish Ètouffée — Plain and simple, it’s a chunky seafood stew. It was chocked full of crawfish, green peppers and other veggies in a tomato-based broth with a mound of flaky rice in the middle. Unfortunately the flavor was super mild and had no depth or spice. The Cheesecake Factory does a better job with their version of the shrimp & chicken gumbo. The market price was $ 27. Jambalaya — My hubby’s dish. The bowl of rice was mixed with andouille sausage and topped with two slices of breaded chicken strips. He really enjoyed it but the forkful I had was way to spicy for me. I like spice but not when I can’t taste my Coke afterwards. SERVICE: Our female server was friendly, helpful and professional. We received an out-the-door thank you! OVERALL: I’d come back to try different dishes but in a city as big as NYC, and all the restaurants available, chances are slim.
