The Duane Reade located in Queens is not as big of this location. It seems like your normal convenience pharmacy, carries almost same merchandise that you see from other locations except that it has food section which offer various amazing selections… fresh market, sushi bar, frozen yogurt, deli, fruit juices bar etc.etc. I am just wondering why there was not much traffic though? Was it because it was two days after the snow storm? We were trying to kill time for the scheduled Late Show with Stephen Colbert taping show and we found this place. It made our stay worthwhile. Noticing the price though(it’s NY baby!), I ‘ll stick to my regular pharmacy and store.

Not a good purchasing experience. The pharmacist lacks of attention and the payment info was wrong. I went to the store last month. The first impression is that pharmacist is so distracted by his phone. After checking my prescription and my insurance card, he asked me to come back 10 minutes to pick up the medicine. Then he goes back to his phone. I came back 10 minutes later, got my medicine and went home(my insurance covers everything). Well, it was not a good experience but I got the right medicine in the end. A month later, I received a letter from Duane Reade asking me to pay because my insurance denied payment. After a lot of calls, it turns out that, somehow, the local store get my id incorrectly. So the payment got denied. To be fair, it might be a slight mistake and I might be the only one who has this problem. However, I do expect high standard from a drugstore as it involves people’s health. My overall impression is that the store doesn’t seem to care much about patients and the process is error-prone.

The mullet of drugstores!(Actually more of a reverse mullet) It’s a party up top, what with all your foods, fro-yo and nachos … …and business downstairs, with your detergent, shampoos and those creams that make you stop itching where you really don’t want to itch. They are usually well stocked for a Duane Reade and I rarely leave without getting what I came for. The line upstairs is usually long but the cashiers are consistently more efficient than those at the other DRs in a five block radius(I think there are about 75 other Duane Reades within five blocks). Haven’t used the pharmacy ever, but that’s only because I’m anti-drug. Unless beer is a drug, in which case I’m pro-drug. But otherwise, strongly anti-drug. For as much foot traffic as this store gets(right on Broadway and 52nd) it stays very clean. Give it up to the mullet!

There are 2 very nice women who are pharmacists at this location who are very nice. There is 1 guy who is semi competent and occasionally rude when you catch his mistakes. Be warned. Still much better than the location on the corner of Broadway and 50th.

I like it. self serve yogurt one price for all you can fit in your cup all the right toppings someone gave me good advice… pay first with your empty cup… then fill it up and just go… kinda of annoying waiting on line to pay with your melting yogurt the yogurt station was a mess last night… unsupervised self serve does have its downside(see photo) …this concept at dr needs a bit of tweaking.

CVS could learn a little from Duane Reade. The store is bright and open. Everything is easy to find.

A few months ago they renovated this Duane Reade store and added a ton of space to the location. It has 2 levels and on the first you can get all types of snacks & foods, including fresh sushi. They have a sushi counter where the chefs prepare fresh sushi for the customers. If you go to the second or lower level you can get anything you would find at a typical drug store like fill out a prescription, beauty items, and tissues, etc. It is very convenient to go to this Duane Reade and get practically anything here while enjoying some great sushi.

Wow! This is the nicest pharmacy I have ever been in, in my life. Macy’s isn’t this nice. It should be its own tourist attraction!

Service here was slow… even with three check-out cashiers. They’d do well to replicate the CVS effort of self-check-out(then I’ll just blame the slow customers instead of slow cashiers). Big space. Not sure it’s used well but they appear to have a big deli space with sushi, custom frozen yogurt, etc. Downstairs they have more supplies and household goods like your normal convenience pharmacy.

Wow, this Duane reade turned from a cheap«Express» DR to a super fancy one. They have Froyo, Smoothies, and even sushi chefs there to prepare rolls for you. Right now they have free samples for you to try also. 2 levels Ground level — has food(Sandwiches, Sushi, Froyo, bagels), Drinks(Smoothies, Soda, water, coffee), and Snacks(Chips etc.) Basement level — Go down and you have most of the pharmacy items such as drugs, eye drops, cough drops, ear drops, pretty much a solution for whatever problem you have downstairs. Love this more since it’s right across the street from my work building!

I love the new renovations, they now carry more food to go, the fruit bowls are yummy. Upstairs resemble a mini Sephora, minus the sales associate. They expanded their greeting cards to include Papyrus cards too. Nice work Duane Reade!

Two stars for convenience, but only one star(barely), for having what you might need. Got sent to their store two blocks down to get a very common item. Much bigger and newer Duane Read is so damn close, why is this one open at all?

I went in there today to get 2 things, tissue travel packs and scotch tape. Weird, huh? Don’t ask. It is a small place and they don’ t have everything. The prices can also be high on some items, but I guess that is the price you pay for convenience near Times Square. Beware of product placement. Often there will be an item like Scotch tape on a display up front that is high priced($ 3.59). But, if you go back to the school supplies section you will find a better deal like $ 1.29 and more variety. As far as service, expect the typical New York customer ‘tude. No smiles or how ya doin’… just«NEXT!»

On my day off to ward off agita, frustration and irritation on my way home after a sneak visit to the nearest Crumbs(oops, sorry Marlene Q. but I still LOVE ya very much!) I desire vitamin water to accompany my Squiggle and chocolate sprinkle cupcakes. The outside of this Duane Reade states«Duane Reade Express» which is my first encounter. This location inhabits at the end of the theater district/Times Square area as this store is somewhat small. I did not wait on line long to be served though, despite of the usually unpersonalized service as other Duane Reades.
