Nice and romantic Italian restaurant. Awesome live music events with a solid menu. The food is authentic and reminds me the years that I spent in Italy back in the days. I came here with a group of friends from San Diego and they are still asking me about this spot. If you want to make a good impression, bring your people here.

Meh. I’ve experienced better. Brunch in NYC is a hobby on it’s own. Thus I should’ve known better to leave my house hungry and show up at a popular brunch spot(obviously there was a 1.5 hour wait) SIGHPIE. I ended up walking around HANGRY and stumbled upon this spot. Honestly, it’s so much nicer inside than outside so you feel like you found a hidden gem! Not to mention the prices are super affordable. I basically came in feeling like Britney Spears circa 2000, but quickly came out feeling like Britney Spears circa 2007(i.e MELTDOWN). My friend and I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes and egg prosciutto sandwich. Both of which sounded SOO good on the menu. AND they offered homemade focaccia bread with olive oil to start. Now here is what went wrong… I should’ve known when the focaccia bread came out and I was not impressed. It was not hot(which is okay), it was not fluffy(which is NOT okay) and it was not moist(also not okay). Whatever, it was free. Secondly, my egg sandwich was a sunny side up egg BUT totally fried through. The yolk was so grossly overdone that it just laid there like a limp ___. And the prosciutto was one thin slice for the entire sandwich. They sandwich was literally a plain jane all around. No flavor, no substance. Not to mention there was a weird radish side salad that had no dressing or flavor whatsoever. Would never order that again. My friend ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes which tasted like regular pancakes. No way did I taste any lemon flavor or ricotta(except there was a very small dollop on top of the pancake). I did, however, appreciate that the pancakes came with berries(otherwise it would’ve been so plain). I also don’t know how I feel about the maple syrup. It didn’t have a distinct flavor and they didn’t have much on their cup(LIKEWHYAREYOUSKIMPING). I had to ask for refills because the pancakes were so plain. ALSO, they only accept cash or american express. I FEELLIKEYOUSHOULDHAVETOLDMETHISBEFORE I SATDOWN. LIKEWHAT?~!!! Thankfully, my friend had an AMEX or I would’ve had to wash dishes. NOWAYJOSE. The only upside of the restaurant was the cute décor and in the end, they rolled up your receipt in a cute twine roll.

After finding out about Epistrophy on a Instagram blog I was following, I decided to check it out on my vacation in NYC. I was very pleased with not only the décor and the staff, but also the food. I tried their qunioa and acavado salad paired with a half bottle of red wine. Despite my friend spilling his wine all over my white pants, the experience was great! The waitress surprised me with an extra two glasses to make up for the spill. Nice touch!

5 stars for aesthetic. 5 stars for service — attentive but not overbearing. No attitude for getting just a tea and coffee. 4 stars for music. 4 stars for menu — I only tried the burscetta; menu items looked tasty but slightly overpriced as per the usual for the location.

I really wanted to lime this place. The décor is rustic, shabby chic… reminded me of a coffee shop uth dim lightings, very cozy, romantic but it’s a small restaurant promoting farm to table ingredients(seem to be the hip thing nowadays). The menu is descent though the prices are a bit high with most main course and pasta entrée were almost $ 20(most had almost no meat in it) up to $ 30. Appetizers are close in the $ 10 – 15. Hubby opted for the pasta with meat sauce. Supposedly what most people ordered on Unilocal… i ordered the butternut squash gnocchi with scallops. And we shared calamari(sauteed) as appetizer. The bread that we got was cold and dry out. Server was not very attentive, our empty water glasses were neglected for many times, he was busy chatting with customers around the bar(i think they knew each other). Calamari appetizers had some charred garlic pieces but overall, it was a very delicious dish. The calamari was cooked perfectly, not chewy, the seasoning was simple but just the right amount of salt. Excellent! Portion is on the tiny side, price tag $ 12! Gnocchi was a disappointment. It was hard like a rice cake… I’m not a gnocchi expert but this is really not good. The scallops were definitely frozen, not fresh and they sliced it very thin, too thin, kinda killed it! Hubby’s pasta was just alright. The noodles tasted like it was made in the house, but a bit too doughy. With the many Italian offerings in the area, they should probably improve their cooking to want to survive.

Lovely little Italian diner. Intimate setting, small menu. Delicious. We were there for dinner. I had the chicken roulade. It was nicely portioned. The wine list is a little on the short side but I was able to find a nice Chardonnay to complement my meal. Very nice!

3.5 stars — the hostess ruined it for her rude cold service. The pappardelle was delicious — would recommend and order again. Neighborhood hangout — best seat seems to be the sofa/settee.

This is an adorable, cozy little restaurant nestled within the streets of SoHo. The atmosphere is one to speak of, be it welcoming, friendly and most of all authentic. Very laid back and easy going vibe, great for dinner. The food was good, as the pastas tasted very handmade and not too salty or overwhelming with flavors. Classic, simple place. Would recommend the pesto artichoke Raviolli!

Delicious! What a great place! From the cute menus to the décor to the food — a wonderful experience. We all ordered different entrees and every plate was clean at the end. I ordered the flat noodles with braised beef and red sauce. So good! I highly recommend this jewel of a restaurant. One note: it is cash only.

Wait what? I love Epistrophy so much. I am rarely around Nolita but this has became a great option anytime you want a relaxed vibe and delicious food. One of the first places I’ve been in NY and one of the ones I keep coming back again and again. That is saying A LOT for this city. I really love the décor and there is the plus of Jazz Nights for Sunday. Orecchiete Love. Respect.

Nice spot for chill late night drink and food. The rustic décor works for this place and definitely a good date spot. Service a bit slower at that time. Standard pricing for Italian restaurants. I didn’t get to try the wines, ironically being that it’s a wine bar. But we did enjoy the cocktails a lot.

Really cute venue — reminds me of a European café. Cash only. Had granola with fruit and yoghurt, there was barely any granola in it so that was disappointing. Service was friendly. I recommend coming here for a couple of drinks and sitting either on the couch by the window or at the outside tables — get food elsewhere.

One of my best friend’s lives right next to this place, so we come randomly and often just to have drinks and catch up and we end up ordering a few dishes here and there. Most of their pastas a pretty good and service is great. It’s a great place to come after shopping and just chat with friends.

Came by on a warm summer night and sat outside for a lovely meal with friends. The pea leaves in our salad were deliciously tender, and the spicy crab pasta was perfectly al dente and bursting with flavor. The inside looked super cute and had tons of personality. It made me feel transported back to a simpler time. Be warned that it’s cash only though there is an ATM in the back.

I liked it! We decided to sit down for a late lunch(4:00 pm ish) and chose the outdoor seating since it was a beautiful day. I went with the eggplant and my friend had the pasta with pesto. We both loved what we ordered and enjoyed the atmosphere and service. Nice music was playing as well. Would definitely come back here to try dinner or even sit at the bar. Tip: It’s cash only

Walked by a long time ago and it looked really cute so put it on my Unilocal bookmark list! We stopped in for a drink and dessert the other night and it was pretty disappointing. Attitude of the staff wasn’t very welcoming. I like most red wines, but not their Bordeaux. Dessert selection was small… only four things on it. We chose the chocolate mousse. It was served in a jar like they had just bought it from somewhere else. It was just sweet with not much actual chocolate flavor.

Our company came here for a NYC team outing to celebrate the work of one of our UK employees. We came on a Monday at 1pm — there were 15 quoted(13 actually came). We were seated immediately, which was great: the décor was quirky and rustic and mis-matchy. We were seated at a long bench: the server had it set for 7 on each side… with maybe 8″ of space for each person. We had to let him know that there would be no way 7 people could fit: we ended up pulling two tables over and having 5 on each side of the bench… waters came quickly and they kept them refilled which was really great. We started with a few appetizers: burrata(it tasted like what we get at the store — nothing special), the medium meat and cheese plate(two slivers of bleu, two of aged parm, and two of some other kind of creamy cheese… like a havarti?) along with a few slices of hard salami, some hams, etc… odd cherry tomatoes and one slice of cantelope with some grapes and olives and breads. Everything tasted fine, but for $ 22 for the plate seemed a little steep. We all got our own entrees: from the pasta pesto to the sandwiches… one of the colleagues had the smoked salmon salad(a little salty) and I had the $ 13 gnocchetti with sausage and red sauce. The sauce wasnt anything spectacular: just tomatoes with minimal seasoning. I appreciated that it wasnt overly saucy or salty, but did wish for a bit more Parmesan on top. Some of the team had to take off early, so when they left, he took one of the empty side tables that they were sitting at and moved it away, set it up for another guest, etc… which would have been okay except the place was pretty empty and it just ended up making us all feel awkward. Again — everything was fine, not great, but prices were steep. Our server was really kind but really quirky, we had to repeat ourselves a few times(he thought someone asked for ice, when they really requested iced tea, for example). Overall, really kind guy and handled our large party well.

Petit restau italien avec un cadre new yorkais. Réserver si vous êtes plus de 5 car l’espace est vraiment réduit. Les raviolis artichaud étaient bons, le gratin d’aubergines aussi. En revanche déception sur la mozza de la salade caprese!

Fun, cute spot for dinner and drinks in the Soho/NoLita area. Perfect for catching up with friends on a Friday night(but be sure to make a reservation!). It’s intimate but not overly fancy. I loved the rustic feel to it. The apps are delicious(the bread –yum!). I got the gnocchi for my main dish and it was just glorious — I absolutely recommend it. The cash only thing is a bit annoying, but if you go in knowing/expecting that, then it’s not really a problem. Definitely a must-try!
