First, to those complaining about price? Come on! You’re in NYC a few blocks from Times Square! You pay a premium on everything, as do the business owners on their rent! Was staying at the Courtyard across the street, so opted for pizza for dinner one night. Walked in and ordered a large pepperoni pie. It was made to order, with ample cheese. The manager was polite and friendly and talked while I waited for the pizza to cook. He provided extra napkins and plates and utensils knowing we were in the hotel. The pizza was really good. Fresh, hot, nothing fancy, just what we ordered. I’d go back.

Traditional old school NY Pizza. They have Sicilian, which some rubes refer to as deep dish or chicago style, but it is totally different. Slices are huge and the only drawback here is that they carry bottled pepsi products instead of Coke on tap. Ditch the Mexican bellywash and this could be 5 stars, ignore the homos shouting«Tourist Trap». That’s what happens in NYC when you become successful.

Do not confuse this with Famous Original Ray’s Pizza located on 7th Avenue, approximately 567 feet away from this location. They are worlds apart in taste and cleanliness! Maybe because this one is tucked beside a big office building on a quite block of Broadway, it doesn’t get the same foot traffic as the one on 7th Avenue. For that reason, the filthy pigs from the hinterlands of America(Pennsylvania and Ohio, mostly) as well as the Euro-litterbugs who clog our streets and leave a mess in our pizza places do not seek out this dining establishment. Which is a long way of saying that it’s really clean. The pizza is good and it doesn’t skeeve me out like the one on 7th Avenue. I mean, I still go to that location, but only if I don’t feel like walking an extra 341 feet. Guys behind the counter are nice too.

I knew going to NY that I needed to make sure I got some NY style pizza so when we came across this place on the way to a bar, we figured it was fate. My boyfriend and I ended up getting Garlic Knots, a slice of Buffalo Chicken Pizza and a combo(22-topping slices of pizza and a drink) that consisted of a slice of Pepperoni and Sausage and a slice of Pepperoni and Black Olive. All the food was delicious and fresh except the Buffalo Chicken slice that was cold and unappetizing. The drink we received was the size of a happy meal drink, which giving the cost of the combo, was way too small.

Have you ever had a deep dish Chicago pizza or pan pizza? If you order this item off of the menu, you’ll be receiving a regular style pizza with slightly more dough… Which costs more dough than the other cheese pizzas! After speaking with the manager to inquire about the lack of «deep dish,» I was argued with and he tried to hastily get me off the phone. His solution was to give me a $ 10 discount off my next purchase, but to call back tomorrow and he «promised» to remember my name. Frustrated, I called back 10 minutes later to use the discount and be done with them. I was argued with again saying that they supposedly close at 6pm on a Saturday. What awful customer service! In addition this delivery and others previous have taken over an hour and are arriving cold. Today will be my last order from this place. The food isn’t nearly good enough to be worth the hassle.

The service was great and recommended what we should order. However the sign out front exclaiming $ 1.99 for two slices of pizza and a drink was unclear. Basically you can only purchase two slices of crappy plain cheese pizza(which honestly looked stale and nasty) so of course we didn’t want to redeem that attractive price advertisement. We ordered the pepperoni and sausage as well as a slice of… yeah I already forgot what it was. Overall it was unmemorable. It hit the spot so I’d say go here for a quick bite if needed but if you want to actually enjoy yourself take yourself somewhere else.

I ordered the #7 meat ravioli with garlic bread and a small drink The guy tried to give me plain bread even though the sign for #7 clearly says it should come with garlic bread. So naturally, I told him that and he said alright, he’d make it garlic bread for me, like he was doing me a favor. But then when the order is ready, only half the bread has garlic and butter on it! The meat ravioli was a small to ok serving size. It tasted alright, but imo the whole meal wasn’t worth the $ 13.01

A friend of mine who travels to NYC told me his buddies love this place. I stumbled by as I was walking along the streets of NY and thought, I should get a slice. For $ 2.75 cheese pizza, I wasn’t impressed. The pizza was just an ordinary pizza. I could have saved $ 3. It was bland and I wouldn’t go back to save my life.

This place sucks. 2 slices and a small cup of soda is $ 8.xx Pepperoni pizza tasted horrible. I think their napkins would taste better than this pizza. The drink was simply flat. Stay away. There are plenty of other better places around here.

I’m all about supporting places that aren’t chains, especially pizzerias that aren’t chains(you’re in NYC, c’mon!), but this Ray’s is conveniently located for Unilocaler Ben Y. and me to meet up at for lunch. I usually bring my lunch so I eat whatever I bring as Ben eats the pizza, but today I tasted a bite of his and it wasn’t half bad. So this review of the pizza at Ray’s is based on one single bite I had of the meat lover’s slice. I think I would be willing to try a whole slice. The place is well staffed and they heat your pizza super quickly. There is a large selection of assorted toppings and types of pizza to choose from which is nice. They also have burgers and things from the grill, but it’s called Ray’s Pizza for a reason. I’ve never been to a Ray’s Pizzeria before as aforementioned I don’t usually support pizza chains, but Ben says the others in the city have more seating. There are a few tables and a bar with stools, but not that much room. Apparently, the actual Ray goes around the city to the different chains. I’ll give Ray’s pizza a try… one day.

The prices at this Ray’s should be considered heinous by anyone’s standards, but for many it is so well located that they have no other choice for lunch-time pizza. For me, it’s right around the corner from where I work so if I need a quick lunch to bring back, there’s really nothing better. For some unbelievable reason this place doesn’t usually have regular pepperoni pizza. They do pepperoni and bacon slices. Don’t get me wrong, I love bacon, but sometimes you want pure pepp. So recently I’ve been going with their pepperoni ROLLS which are incredible. They are around $ 8 which is laughable but it’s so good. Ray’s is usually quite hot because of the ovens and the lack of strong A/C, plus the whole environment isn’t very clean. Honestly if you have the time, search for a better place. The prices are too high and the experience is very sub-par. But the food is still delicious if you are in a crunch.

One star goes toward serving the many drunk tourists of Midtown late at night, but the rest of the operation is where this Ray’s goes awry. Even when I was still working/living/breathing midtown, the few times I wasn’t able to do Halal or Korean or Diner food, it would almost always be pizza for my post 3AM anti-hangover meal. Due to the lack of quality pizzerias available in these parts, I found myself at Ray’s and it’s other sister locations more often than not. It would be one thing if the prices were 2 Bros worthy(read: $ 1 a slice), but at $ 3 plain slice is highway robbery when they’re often dry, with insufficient amounts of cheese and sauce. When it comes to reheated slices, especially ones that weren’t created from scratch, it’s always safe to stick with plain slices. Something about throwing in random toppings at the last moment before throwing it back in the oven is a bit a turn off for me, but I am far from any pizza snob. Delivery is usually a better bet, but Ray’s isn’t protecting any wallet depletion with their prices and the pizzas are only marginally better than what’s already on the counter. Delivery isn’t exactly super fast, but the expectations were never high to begin with. Service also leaves a lot to be desired — not that I am expecting 5 star level treatment, but crappier nearby pizza joints serving inferior slices have been friendlier than this Broadway spot.

Stop! You will NOT submit yourself to this Ray’s. Please conduct a research of the area for better, or at least cheaper, pizza. Then come back and read this review. Like a naughty boy, I came to this Ray’s after feeling unsatisfied at a fancy-pants midtown restaurant. I thought nothing would do the trick better than a good ol fashioned slice at one of the godzillion Ray’s around the city(and I don’t care which kind of Ray’s, there are a godzillion different Ray’s establishments and to try to figure that out requires a Ph. D in New York City history, which I don’t purport to have. End digression.). I ordered a sausage and pepperoni slice and a Miller Lite. When the non-native English speaker behind the counter told me the price of my order, I had to ask her to repeat it three times. I heard her, yet I convinced myself I was mishearing her due to my ear’s lack of discerning heavy accents. But no, she was clear, and I heard her. $ 10.31 for a slice and a beer. I pony up, realizing that this IS Midtown, and find solace in the fact that at least the slice is huge and loaded with toppings. I sit down to enjoy my slice in the capacious rear seating area, and I attempt the customary New York slice fold. The sides of the slice crack near the crust, and I’m left with less of a fold than a pizza scoop. That’s okay, it’s still pizza. I take a huge bite, and enjoy the slightly crustier than expected crust. I’m trying to look on the bright side. I take two, maybe three bites, when I realize something is very wrong. I cannot taste my pizza! This is mildly upsetting. I must have a cold. I must have a stuffed nose and my taste buds are suffering. I mean, this is sausage and pepperoni pizza. The meat should taste salty and sweet. The cheese should, too. The sauce should, three. Then I hit a patch of red pepper, garlic salt and parmesan, and I realize I can taste THAT, but I cannot taste the pizza. And I recall tasting my dinner at the fancy-pants restaurant earlier tonight, so it must not be ME. It was the strangest experience to put something that LOOKED like a pizza to my eyes, that FELT like a pizza in my hands and in my mouth, but tasted like NOTHING to my tongue and nose. To eat like this all the time would be miserable. I so love pizza. I hate to rate any place lower than three stars. But the blandness and priciness of this Ray’s joint has earned itself, to me, the WORSTPIZZAINNEWYORK award. But I still give it two stars.

This is a Ray’s, but not«the» Ray’s. Not sure which one is «the» Ray’s but I hope it is better. I know for a fact that there is better pizza in NY and the surrounding area, but this one delivered a pie to my hotel at 3:00 am and that’s a very good thing. It got the job done. As a side note, if this place was on the left coast, it would be kick ass.

Wanting a super cheap lunch, I decided to come here for a slice and something from their 99C menu. Regular slice is decent. Their thick fries is good and a bigger portion than I expected. It came in one of those small foil containers. Plenty of seating, upstairs & downstairs.

I don’t understand why people hate on this place so much. Yeah, it’s a basic reheated chain pizza joint and it’s not clean but it’s perfectly fine if you’re looking for a $.99 slice. And, it’s better than Sabarros or most of the other chain pizza places. If you want real pizza just head to the zillion great places in the West Village. Also people come on with the complaining on price. Just get the $.99 cheese slice and maybe a small drink. Don’t get the bottle waters and sausage slices.

Every morning, there’s that huge banner advertising 75 cents for a slice of pizza which ironicly directly faces Ray’s Pizza rival pizza joint right across the street selling pizza for 99 cents. Finally, I succumbed to try this pizza since I was in a rush to get downtown right after work. Their value menu also advertises spaghetti marinara and salad for 99 cents each. What??! Being the piggy that I am and a deal chaser, how could I resist? :) Unfortunately they were out of salad. Toss being healthy out for today! Pizza: not bad at all! Crispy crust and warm cheese. Spaghetti: could’ve used a meatball or two but again, also, not bad at all. if you’re hungry and on the run, grab Ray’s!

We stopped here for a quick snack on our way to Time Square. Funny thing was, we were headed for another Ray’s Pizza location when we ran into this one. We picked up the final two slices of cheese they had, which they reheated for us, and we gobbled them up in their 2nd floor dining area.(Extra dining space is always a plus.) It was simple thin crust pizza. Tasty enough for what it is — New York street pizza. As we left, they were just slicing up a freshly baked cheese pizza! We arrived 10 minutes too soon!
