We Went here with a groupon deal… Not worth our time. Very Awkward, spotty service, the food was just mediocre. Would never dine here again.

My fiancé bought a Groupon deal, thinking the menu seemed amazing. We happened to be in the area so decided to stop in. About three tables were seated, two groups of about 6 and one couple. The Groupon deal highlighted the filet mignon but when my fiancé asked about it, the waitress quickly noted it wasn’t a part of the deal– hm? No problem, menu looked great so we ordered other items(without putting up a fight) For the appetizer we shared the prosciutto & melon– that we waited almost half an hr for. The meat tasted like the cheapest type they could find, very very salty and dry, hard… Then we waited another thirty minutes for our entrees(that came out after the table next to us, who arrived after we did, was served). My dish was«seafood combo with saffron rice and mixed seasoned vegetables», and he ordered the«almond-crusted lamb». Mine tasted as if it was thawed and microwaved, and no rice. Sauce was salt and lots of it. I had three bites and gave up. His lamb was pathetic looking, and there were sliced almonds thrown in a clump on one corner of it. He laughed at the dish, that’s all we could do at that point. Before we left my fiancé did express our thoughts to the waitress and the manager overheard. Instead of offering an apology or comping maybe even a drink for our wait, they simply blamed it on «the new chef who’s filling in tonight». Overall laughable, but at least the sangria was decent.

This place despite the reviews exceeded our expectations. We did the 24.953 course meal. It was great!!!

I’ve been coming here with my family for years(back when it was pasta presto) and it is always great. The stuffed chicken, chicken picatta and veal parm are favorites. They serve big portions, they’re accommodating – always open to substitutions, and the food is consistently good. Oh and it’s super reasonable. Not NYC prices. I honestly don’t understand the bad reviews…

I am utterly disgusted that a restaurant like this exists in an area with some great places! My friend ordered lobster ravioli… it looked and tasted like vomit. She ate one ravioli and pushed the plate aside. I ordered a cobb salad… it couldn’t have been more bland and unappetizing… I nibbled a few pieces of lettuce and tomato and decided that was more than enough… plus my sprite tasted like they poured a thousand pounds of syrup into the machine. Our bread basket had 3 pieces of rye bread on a napkin-very classy. From the outside-I was suspicious… it looked dingey, old and unkempt. Nobody was inside… this place needs to close down. I pray I don’t get food poisoning tonight. Spare yourself and frequent the multiple other amazing restaurants in the area like the Smith, Caffe Martier, or Sophias(all literally around the corner, across the street, or a few blocks over). This place was super expensive for such low quality food… avoid Figaro Bistro Grill at all costs!

I came here with a Groupon, and I would definitely come back with another Groupon. The staff was super sweet and helpful, it took me a while to get through their large menu and never felt rushed. Admittedly, the food was a little salty but it was still pretty good. I definitely didn’t hate it. We had the Calamari — which we enjoyed, it was crisp and not too chewy. I had the Hanger Steak, too much sauce and salty. Once I took off some of the sauce it was pretty good. My boyfriend had the Chicken Francese, it wasn’t as lemony as we would’ve like it to be, but again not bad.

Oh man, I was so nervous at first. I ordered a groupon deal for this place but blindly, did not read any reviews at all then finally did and got nervous. Saw some horrific reviews but I honestly did not have such a bad time with my guest. I guess I could not do anything else about it but go, at that point groupon already had my money. I guess what they saw is true if a deal looks TOO good to be true, it probably is. — I came here on a monday night and staff was really nice. It was a woman(European looking, forgot the name). Ordered the Mixed Grilled Combo and it included Chicken, Hanger Steak, and Pork with Italian Seasonings. The meal came with French fries(they were okay) and Green salad. Service was not that bad at all, not many people in the restaurant though. Also, the meal came with a glass of wine or soda. For the money value, did not have a problem with it, but not running to exactly come back here. The only thing good was I got the groupon deal– Two meals for $ 35 and had a 20 groupon credit from something else, so in that sense, it was worth my time here.

No wonder certain coupon sites claim there is no Unilocal reference… We did not enjoy our visit and I hope this place closes down to make room for something decent. This place is run very sloppy. With ½ the lights broken you end up in a dim and diffuse but by no means intimate ambiance. I see others mention the house Riesling… Do not *ever* order house Riesling anywhere — but especially not at this place, as my friend discovered against advice. My Pinot Noir was drinkable, at least in comparison. Service was OK and the meal unremarkable, nothing you couldn’t get in nicer places. Cappuccino is 6 bucks, I guess because this is such a classy establishment…

I stumbled upon this place and had dinner there. The atmosphere was dimly lit and my girlfriend and I really enjoyed ourselves, The food was wonderful and the staff was super friendly. I looked at some other rewiews and was shocked to see them. I would say that this place has either changed tremendously or it just been hated on for other reasons. Try it its awesome. Thanks Moy for a great time.

My boyfriend and I went on a Groupon deal — $ 35 for 2 glasses of wine, an appetizer, and 2 entrees. First of all, do NOT order the house riesling. It was quite possibly the worst wine I have ever tasted in my entire life. The service was fine but the place had a weird smell — a mildew-ish smell coming from downstairs(since it’s a small venue, it was hard to avoid). The food was okay, nothing special but certainly edible. We ordered the chicken parm & sirloin steak(they were out of filet mignon) — it was okay. The veggies were soaked in butter and the meat was well done when we ordered medium. Overall, it was fine for the price of the Groupon but we will never return.

We recently ate here and wished we didn’t. The best thing about this place is the $ 5 drinks. Eat somewhere else! We ordered the cheese steak sub and the meat was so tough we could not chew it. The salad had wilted lettuce. The place was pretty empty and we should have checked the reviews before going in. The service was acceptable, but the food… very poor.

So the husband and I are on the 6 train heading back downtown to our hotel after the Yankees game. We are hungry. I want Shake Shack – we ate at the UWS location our first night in New York on the way to a concert at the Beacon Theater but there is the Times Square location. The cranky-with-travel-and-sun husband, however, nixes that idea and votes for a neighborhood place. I, also cranky, in turn nix going to the little diner that we’ve been hitting up for breakfast. So we roam the wilds of Second Avenue – ooh, look. Figaro Bistro Grill. Three-course dinner for $ 23.95. This is doable. It’s early, not even six, so I’m not surprised the place is empty. I get Caesar salad as my appetizer, chicken parmesan for the entrée, and a cannoli for dessert. The husband also gets a Caesar, sausage and peppers for the entrée, and cheesecake. Bread is brought out – not super fresh, butter right out of the refrigerator. The salads are fine. My portion of parm is huge. It’s sided with sauteed vegetables and a portion of penne drowning in a chunky tomato sauce. While the chicken itself is cooked decently and there’s a lot of mozzarella, it too swims in canned stewed tomatoes. Now I’m no snob, one of my favorite quick throw-together lunches to take to work is leftover roast chicken mixed with canned diced tomatoes, but I actually season mine. Once I get rid of the tomatoes … well, I’m freaking hungry and it does the trick, enough so I get the cannoli to go. My husband also finishes his meal and gets his cheesecake to go. Service is okay, I’ve had worse. The cannoli, too, is okay, ditto the cheesecake. Figaro Bistro’s not horrible, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat there again. When you’re thinking to yourself, «Dammit, we should have just gone to BonChon again» while you’re eating, that’s generally not a good sign.

The only good thing that came out from this dining was that we discovered that there was a BonChon next door! We went on a Tuesday night around 6:30. The place has about 15 tables with 1 waiter with the bartender helping when he got swamped. The service was pretty decent, but the food was another story. My first regret was not reading the Unilocal reviews before buying the groupon! Appetizer– calamari: pretty standard, could have gotten the same, if not better at a local pizzeria. Entre 1– Friend had stuffed chicken with mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes. It had way too much sun dried tomatoes! All I tasted was the tomatoes and my friend spent most of the time picking out the tomatoes. The roasted potatoes that came with it were also soggy and the vegetables were frozen. Entre 2: Seafood combo/stew with garlic white wine sauce. My second mistake of the night, ordering a seafood dish in a sub-par restaurant. It was disgusting! The seafood smelled fishy and it was all shriveled up. I was afraid to eat the clams and oysters. But when I tasted the shrimp, all I tasted was salt. It also looked most of the seafood was canned and they dumped the contents of it as a sauce. I stopped eating it, in fear of getting sick.

WARNING: THISPLACEWASPREVIOUSLYCALLEDLAPASTAPESTOGRILL!(Their name has changed due to new management however, the reviews reflect similar expeiences) I bought a $ 35 groupon deal for this place last night and when my bf and I arrived at the restaurant we immediately regretted buying the dinner deal yet we gave the place a chance hoping the food may fair better.(rude awakening). The place looks like a old run down 1990’s bar instead of resturant, tacky décor complete with fake flowers and christmas lights all around very romantic considering it’s SUMMER! Very small space not much room in the dinning area to actually have a intimate experience especially since all your able to do is hear what every other couple is saying. The service was subpar with the waiter having difficulty getting to our table 20 min into sitting down with only 3 other tables seated. We waited a good 10 to 15 min to recieve a glass of water, bread(which was stail and cold). We were brought cold bread to start and asked if we were there with a groupon deal. I guess there were many others that night with the same deal since the 2 other couples there were also a tad disgruntled with the food and service. The menu was very large which should have been the first indication that the food was also going to suck ass. My bf and I began with a grilled portobella mushroom app with melted mozzarella and tomato sauce(which was canned). The choice seemed promising until we recieved it, it turned out to be a chewy hockey puck swimming in tomato sauce peppered with dried parsley to add a twist of fucking bad to the dish. Following this great beginning, was our order of hanger steak which looked like processed Mcdonalds hamburger meat nuked in a microwave with lukewarm meatloaf gravy and steamed vegtables obviously from the supermarket frozen section. The only saving grace was the french fries and mashed potato wine which was still some cheap brand out of a carton or probably out of the bathroom urinal. When we received the check, the waiter explained to us that we had to pay the tax which was expected because we had been required to do so for other groupon and living social deals that we had purchased in the past. However, we were also obligated to pay a 18% gratuity fee which is usually paided for groups of 5 or more! We were only 2! I mean it’s $ 10 dollars but damn it should be something based off our descression not forced upon by management or a waiter. This place was definitely not worth the $ 15(tax &tip) plus $ 35 = $ 50. This place is trying to have competitive resturant prices with very low quailty everything changing the name doesnt change the lack or service, and food. Will not go bad. If anything positive is to be said of this place is that it probakly has a future as a bar with the 3 dollar happy hour and 5 dollar swhots yet who knows if it can even pull that off. Do not go or be fooled by the groupon deal!

A mixed review. The food was good. Delicious, in fact. But the service wasn’t so hot. Water glasses not refilled, a request for more bread forgotten, no check-in to see if I wanted more wine– I did. And at the end of the meal, we had to wait a long time to settle up. The restaurant wasn’t that busy so that wasn’t the issue. The atmosphere was nice– cozy and not too loud. The food was good enough that I’d be tempted to go back in the hopes the service issues get resolbed.

Overall experience Meehhh… I went there for lunch with a groupon now coupon(paid $ 10 for $ 20 food and drink).first thing is that the place was empty! both restaurants next to this one were packed that was the first warning. the food was just ok nothing exceptional the service normally with an empty restaurant should have been better i feel like the waiter was the also the cook! he took my order and rushed to cook it. the most funny part was at the end when i asked for the bill, the guy took off only $ 10 from my bill and when i told him no you should remove $ 20 instead he did not want to! jezzz. it is not difficult to read! the groupon said I paid $ 10 for $ 20 food it was pretty clear but nope he had to call his boss on the phone to confirm waisting my time!!! will definitely not coming back there!

The food is really bad for such money. Price is from a restaurant, food is from cheap self service grocery. Cheese platter is a usual cheese in individual packs, just sliced. Eggplant is bitter, and overfried — really fat. Should have listened to the previous review.

1.5 stars, really. I rounded up because the service was good, at least. The food here is bad. Like, really bad. It’s not quite inedible, but it hugs that line as tightly as it can. Overcooked – tough meat, limp veggies… you know the drill. The wine I ordered was also bad. No undrinkable, but not at all enjoyable. Maybe if I were drunk already before I got here… Price is a bit better than others in the area, but definitely not enough to warrant the huge plunge in quality. I will certainly not be back. There are enough other restaurants in the area, it’s simply not worth even trying again.
