Brought ho fun from them to make chow fun. Got home and realized they sold me a piece that was hard and broken up. Wasted my money.

Very silky and smooth do fu fah(Tau huay) in chinatown. Small store and easy to miss. It’s definitely a no frills store. You go in, get your stuff and leave. Don’t expect to sit there and eat(no seats). If you don’t know what it is, it’s probably best described as «sweet asian tofu pudding». Thin layers of silky tofu! They keep raising the price though. When I first started going a few years ago it was $ 1 then became $ 1.25. It’s now $ 1.5 for a small size. I still think it’s a good deal though. The small size is pretty big. The sugar syrup is served separately so you can control the sweetness. I definitely love coming here for this asian dessert I grew up on. Authentic and delicious.

Silk tofu! Very silky no chewing needed. Drink it like water with a couple shots of ginger honey! Yummy to my tummy!

Fong Inn Too stands out among the many unsuspecting hole-in-the-walls that constitute Chinatown. The tofu pudding is so simple yet so perfect. I recommend anyone to come get a container regardless of whether you’ve tried it before or not, though it might be hard for a non-Mandarin/Cantonese speaker to communicate with the workers. It’s refreshing and a healthier dessert than ice cream and nouveau Asian dessert places like Mango Mango. I’ve found that it keeps well in the fridge for at least a couple days as well. Now if only they made a savory version!

The couple that runs this place looks angry all the time… Dont get it wrong, three stars is for the food only: P Silken Tofu with sweet soup is always good and fresh, however a bit disappointed with their carrot cake, taro cake, brown sugar cake…

It’s like the soft tofu nazi. My cantonese is not great so I have to recite and practice how to pronounce my herbal drink order with sugar. I’ve heard than men should not be eating too much soy because it acts on the estrogen receptor. But, my mom is getting older is age and can’t come to Ctown so, I don’t mind risking embarrassment picking up a quart of tofu for her.

Finally, I know where to get dou hua(soft tofu pudding) in Chinatown! A literal hole in the wall, I’ve walked by Fong Inn Too countless times and have never noticed the place(or the apparent long line in the mornings). For those of you that don’t what dou hua is, it’s basically soft tofu that’s a common breakfast food. Top it with some ginger sugar syrup and some peanuts, and you’re good to go. They come in two sizes here, and the large is only $ 3, which makes it another Chinatown steal. Unfortunately Fong doesn’t carry any peanuts, so you might need to stop by another place to make it a balanced breakfast. Don’t be scared off by the uncleanliness of the place(it was quite dirty); the dou hua is cooked in a closed environment and it was quite smooth and tasty.

It doesnt appear that much english is spoken here, just point and buy… but their soft tofu is amazing! On top of that also bought fresh soy milk and black grass drink, wish i lived closer to here!

Tried the tofu fa, which, although it had a nice custardy texture, had a very strong soy bean flavor that I found off putting. The accompanying sauce was also way too sweet for my taste. Woman is a bit brusque, but cracked a smile in response to my thank you.

Came in here today to grab a large douhua to go. I’ve been craving it lately but hasn’t had time to stop in Chinatown until today so I did research to find a shop that sold it. This place had high reviews, so I was super excited. I came in around noon, before meeting friends for lunch in nearby noodle restaurant. The price was reasonable at $ 3 for a large tub(about three servings). I put the tub in my bag and off I went to lunch. I didn’t get home until after 3 and then popped the tub in the fridge as soon as I arrived home. Later that night when I opened the tub, I discovered the douhua had spoilt! I could tell because the large even chunks had split into little pellet size tofu pieces. And they tasted sour(I tried a small bite just to be sure). I couldn’t believe it! Douhua can be sold sitting out in room temperature for hours at a time, so I was shocked that it had spoilt in a matter of hours! I can’t be sure if lack of refrigeration immediately after purchase caused the spoilage or if the douhua was already on verge of spoilage when I bought it. But based on couple other reviews here, I’m going to find another douhua shop just to be on the safe side.

This is just a small shop. The two guys at the counter were friendly and were nice enough to show me whatever they had for sale. The older gentleman was the one who filled my large douhua to the top. 白糖糕/Bak Tong Gou/White Honeycomb Cake($ 2): It was slightly warm when I bought a pack, so I’m guessing it was still fresh when I stopped by. The sweetness was perfect and just a tad bit sticky. 豆花/Douhua/Taho/Silken Tofu($ 4): Nice and warm, tasty, and slightly sweet with the syrup added. I ate this growing up, but it had boba thrown in. If the large is too big, the small is only $ 2. I recommend eating it soon – don’t let it sit out for too long. 蝦米腸粉/Xiami Chang Fen/Dried Shrimp Rice Rolls($ 2): I thought each box wouldn’t come with much, but you get three large sheets of rice rolls with plenty of shrimp and scallions. Do not quote me on the price; I think it’s the same as the honeycomb cake, though. There didn’t seem much to choose from today. Outside of the packaged items beneath the counter, there was a small glass shelf with miscellaneous ingredients, soy milk and tea in the fridge, honeycomb rice cakes(regular and one with brown sugar that sort of looks like nian gao), and shrimp rolls. I did not see any xian cao/grass jelly, which was unfortunate. I also saw some turnip cakes but they were refrigerated.

The best foods in this city are found in hidden hole-in-the-wall places. With that being said, this place is no exception. Serving up the one of the best sweet tofu, rice noodles and turnip cakes for as long as I can remember, this place is famous for just that. Yes, this place appears dirty and yes, it is Chinatown, and that’s exactly what one should expect. But the sweet tofu here is to die for. It’s really inexpensive($ 2 for a large I believe), and it tastes great whether chilled or warm. I personally like it chilled in the summertime with a slight drizzle of the syrup they provide poured over it. I also tried the fried turnip cake here which wasn’t bad. Next time, I shall buy their rice noodles to bring home for next morning’s breakfast. Oh, and the soy milk is also great for bringing on the go, whether sweetened or unsweetened. Would I come back? Definitely!

The Soy milk has gotten super inconsistent over the past few years. Avoid buying the big bottle if it’s the last one in the fridge, it’s most likely spoiled. Out of the past 5 bottles I bought, 4 of them had this sour burning taste. Now I’ve completely converted to the blue label Kong Kee found at the Kong Kee store and supermarkets. Bye bye Fong Inn Too, you just lost a loyal customer. PS: Their sesame balls are hard as rocks and the filling is minuscule, avoid too.

I love tiny, inconspicuous places that have authentic, homemade goodies. This is one of those places. When I’m craving things from my childhood like soy bean milk, white sugar cake and tofu flower(literal translation) dessert, this is a good place to swing by. Prices are really affordable as all three items were under $ 6 and service is fast. Don’t expect top-notch décor or super friendly service. It’s down to business here and you’ll be in and out. The white sugar cake was perfect. A bit more sugary than some places but that’s how I like it and the texture was spot on. Brings back so many memories. The tofu was very smooth and silky. It’s hard not to appreciate the value and quality of the simple delicacies here. They also sell herbal tea, shrimp rice roll, and tofu.

This place is a literal hole in the wall, but DAMN their stuff is good! I happened to walk by here and tried their 豆花(the tofu«fa») it was very good! Lacking peanuts but that is okay because I pick those out anyways! Like most hole in the walls in Chinatown, its dirt cheap. I will definitely be back to try more stuff! I’m thinking the 仙草 when it gets warmer(thats the black jello thing).

I like the dou jiang here, it tastes fresh, smooth, clean, and sweet. However, if you buy a jug of it and leave it in the fridge, it thickens into a goopy almost pudding like texture. This lets me know: Fong Inn is either adding gelatin or some other thickening agent to the dou jiang. Kind of makes me wonder what other hidden ingredients or additives I might be consuming. I would prefer to look for a place where the dou jiang doesn’t have«extras» blended in. I seek natural and fresh food and beverages!

This place is the bomb diggity for some amazing Asian desserts/drinks/food that I grew up eating as a child. What ever you do, do not judge the appearance of this place. It’s the food that matters and I can guarantee that this place is clean. I’ve been eating this stuff for years and years and nothing has happened to me. There are negative reviews below that commented about the bad/rude service and the appearance of the place meaning it’s not clean. Do not listen to them. If you are a true asian or someone that grew up around asian food/restaurants, you know will know that this type of service or non-service for the matter is normal. The appearance of the place is also normal. It’s the people that are coming here where something like this is entirely foreign to them and that is why they are giving this place a low rating. Anyway, with that aside, lets get to the food! The tofa-fa is amazing! I always get the cold one and the sweet syrup that comes with it is so amazing. I love eating this hot and cold and the silkiness of the tofu is amazing. The herbal jelly with the syrup is also another favorite of mine and is amazing as well. It is also really refreshing and perfect to eat cold during the hot summer months. The ha goo cho is also amazing and a very refreshing drink for the hot summer months. The soy milk is also really good and fresh too. I’ve also had the turnip cake and that’s amazing as well. I have had nothing, but great food/desserts here and I will continue coming back. Give this place a try if you’re looking for some great desserts!

Best place in Chinatown to get fresh homemade soy and rice based food products. Fresh Tofu FA. Traditional Chinese dessert made from soy beans that looks like a flan. Drizzled with sweet syrup on top, as little or as much as you desire and enjoy. Ho fun(broad noodles), egg noodles, rice noodles with mini shrimp and scallions, and Jong(Asian version of a tamale with sticky rice and some kind of meat filling). Common staple ingredients to cook up a storm or just eat it straight after purchase. They have other traditional health drinks such as the Herbal tea or just plain soy milk(both sweetened or unsweetened) made in house. There’s a big boned woman who seems to like to yell at their customers like the soup Nazi in Seinfeld. Just line up, speak up, know what you want, how many you want, and you should leave happy without being yelled at.

Whenever I swing by chinatown, I like to come here for some«ha goo cho» herbal tea. It’s delicious and supposively good for you too. Too bad that I came here too early or else I would have ordered their turnip cake too! Their«tofu fa» and soy milk are also great options too! The only complaint I have on this place is that the packaging is usually very sloppy. My bottle drinks are always very sticky but hey for a $ 1 bottle herbal tea and $ 1.25 turnip cake, you can’t complain!
