I use to go to the one on 5th avenue, The people were alot nicer. This store has a limited selection and the people are weird. I bought a fan the other day thats about it… That will definitely be my last time in that store.

I have so many necklaces from Gem Story that I need a new jewelry box now. It is overflowing BIGTIME. I used to go to the location in Forest Hills but that one is closed. How sad is that. I have to walk all the way to the Gem Story on 14th between 5th and 6th. It is a much smaller location. Boo. Less selection but I still always find something. I just got another necklace on Friday. I can’t stop! My jewelry box is crying for me to stop but I can’t! I need another place to store my jewelry. Yikes. Running out of space! ha! I love how cheap it is for costume jewelry. I am not sure but I think this store shrunk?! It used to be bigger?! I think. I can’t remember… and I think it might have been further east. I think they moved up west a little into smaller digs. It’s hard to remember because I dont come here everyday.

I got a few necklaces here, but you really have to dig thru the crap to find anything wearable. I really think it just depends on your taste level. Because on my visit people were freaking out grabbing baskets and baskets of stuff and I’m busying trying to find a pair of earrings that aren’t dripping with hot glue gun left overs. Here you get what you pay for, at 1.99 for earrings, there are gonna look like you paid 1.99 for them. You can go to H&M and get jewelry for cheap, that doesn’t look cheap. But I will def be back for jewelry for Halloween.

Love this store! I visited this store because I was in search of some retail therapy after I got laid off from my job… it’s amazing how far my $ 20 bucks went! Loads of colourful chandlier earrings!

Everything is $ 2.99, so I walked in. As I was in the store, the guy followed me around. I’m not going to steal anything, do I look suspicious? Loser. Then again, I see 4 more eyes on me– two people at the desk staring. I was so intimidated, I left. Hm.

Bling on a budget. That’s Gem Story. The bright lights of the cute store front always catch my eye and before I know it, I have spent 60 bucks on an assortment 10 inch Boriqua hoop earrings, hot pink clip in hair extensions and Kanye West glasses. The jewelry tarnishes, the clasps break, the rhinestones fall out, all of which is ok with me. I’m paying 3 dollars for this stuff, I’m not expecting Harry Winston’s. As long as I can look fly in my 2.99 stunna shades and diva earrings for the time being, I’m good.

Leave it to Joolie T. to uncover this *ahem* gem. $ 2.99 doesn’t go very far in this city(yes, it has since gone up to a set price of $ 2.99 and is no longer the $ 1.99 that Joolz wrote about in her FTR). You can get… what? ¼ of a drink at some slutty club? A single rose from the corner vendor? 2⁄3 of a serving of Magnolia’s banana pudding? Or…you can come here and have your pick of cute accessories. No, they are not super fancy or anything, and they’re not the BEST quality, but really… what do you expect for $ 2.99? Here’s what you SHOULD expect: something trendy or classic or cheesy(for those costume parties we all get invited to) or totally«OMG, it’s soooo not my style, but I’ve, like, always wanted one of these» at a price that won’t break the bank. Break-up tip(because I keep seeing those threads proliferating on the Talk boards): If you believe in retail therapy, come here and impulse shop to your heart’s content. At $ 2.99 a pop, how much damage can you REALLY do?

eh, Gem Story has lots of great necklaces, some earrings look kinda cheap although necklaces there certainly dont look $ 2.99. Last time I visited it was like around May or June, I had to pick something out for prom, it was very last minute… Prom was on Monday, I was there around closing time I believe the day before so other stores normally chase you out but the cashier helped me pick everything. I know Iam very picky, employee there didnt hesitate to save my big fat ass for the prom! Everybody there were very helpful, kind. friendly! I miss the cashier I used to hang out with. okay, too much information. Anyway, It’s also around NYU area so it’s great for poor college students like myself. Everything used to be $ 1.99 but they jacked up the prices which is so sad. *tears* Anyway, go to gem story if you’re on a budget, you wont regret it.

everything here is $ 1.99. everything. from intricate necklaces to elegant styles of earrings. i come here every time i purchase a new outfit. mainly because… for under $ 10 you can coordinate your trendy outfit with ultra sassy accessories! you don’t believe me? well, the next time you see me(either in person or in pictures) just ask where i got my flashy ring, long necklace, or earrings… it’ll probably be from here. you can go to DoDo’s and So Good in Soho… or even Cinderella Story right down the street from Gem Story– because they ALL carry the same thing. basically similar styles and quality… but this place has everything all a set price. can’t go wrong there. sure– it’s not real bling-bling or comes in a turquoise Tiffany’s box… but if you’re on the go, low on cash-flow, and looking for something to liven up your ‘fit… this is a perfect place to stop by! seriously.
