This cute little bakery was a gem to find in Harlem. We ordered a pineapple cake for a going away party at work. The two ladies that helped us were so sweet and really wanted to make the cake special. The cake was very fresh and everyone loved it!

Came in here for a couple desserts before closing and the people were so nice. They were all smiles and gave great customer service. I got the 4 Leches Cake and the Doble Chocolate Cake. The 4 Leches was really good. Really rich but and creamy. A couple bites is enough. The Doble Chocolate is great. It’s a nice go to dessert. It’s rich, moist, and not too sweet. Definitely recommend this place.

I wish I had as palatable an experience as others but alas, no such Luck. The service was friendly and Nice, once the one man running the place came out of the back. He even gave me two magnetic 2015 fridge mini calendars after I took one of their business cards. I ordered two chocolate cupcakes with Vanilla icing at a total cost of $ 9. Not the most I’ve ever shelled out for treats for my two favorite kiddos but the fact that they didnt even eat a third of each cupcakes was disappointing. So being the person I am, I decided to finish the mostly uneaten cupcakes. This is where it all Ended, folks. They were dry and just unappetizing. I figured I was just having an offday and saved them in the fridge for later. Sad to say that four days later, they were still sitting in my fridge. I really hated to waste food but I wasnt going to force myself to eat them when they failed on two fronts. I really want to like them so I will give them another chance, in like 5 months.

stop by here when I crave authentic Latino pastries. Their cuatro leches cake and guava cake are good.

The cupcakes were at least a day old, stale, and disgusting. It tasted like it came from Associated Market. The service was ok, I guess. She kept calling me «sweetie». Maybe this is a cultural thing, but it annoyed the hell out of me.

I love this bakery! The women who work here are SO nice. They always greet you with a smile. The first time I went in, she took the time to tell me more about a few of the desserts, and when I went in a second time and was short 75 cents, she said«it’s okay. You can pay me the next time you come in. You’ll be back right?» Call me a sap, but I thought it was so sweet. I went in a few days later with the change I owed them and a tip. The caramel apple was amazing, and so was the STRAWBERRYSHORTCAKE. Sometimes on the way home I have to make it a point to walk on the other side of the street, because when I walk by Grinis it’s hard not to go in. I can’t wait to try more of the other things behind the counter… the chocolate cakes oh my god. Pace yourself Shana pace yourself.

Grinis is a new Dominican bakery that recently opened on Lenox Avenue. It’s a small, but yet bright and cheery place with several cases of baked goods(cakes, cookies, cupcakes, breads, etc.) on display inside. And in addition to sweet baked goods a few non-sweet items like soup, chicken-filled empanadas and pastelitos. At the time of this review they’ve only been open a few weeks, so there might be new additions, or deletions to their menu. Since I always like to support new businesses in the neighborhood, and know that a good bakery could do well here, I recently stopped in to give the place a try. When I stopped by today they were giving out tasting samples of one of their coffee cakes which I thought was pretty good– both soft, moist and rich. So based on how good their sample tasted, I decided to order a couple of things from the display case, but somehow they all fell a little short of that fresh baked coffee cake they’d handed out. While everything in the display case was very colorful and looked mouthwatering and tasty, the pineapple cake and banana nut bread pudding I had was dense and on the dry side. Perhaps that’s because they’re still a new business and haven’t built up a customer base yet, so their baked goods could be hanging around the display case a little longer than they should. However, I am an eternal optimist, so I’ll give them another try in a week or two to see if anything changes. They plan on setting up inside counter and stool seating soon, so I know I’ll be back to at least check that out. But, whether or not they will become my go-to bakery in the neighborhood– I’m still up in the air about that.
