Fiona is awesome, super friendly, listens to your requests and explains every step she is going through. She gave me discount on hair conditioning treatment which made my hair very soft and shiny.

Came in on a Sunday. Fiona didn’t have any clients so she took me. While she did give a very thorough cut and clearly knows what she is doing, she easily cut off six inches of my hair when I asked for a maximum 2 inch trim. I actually had to stop her from cutting after 40 minutes because she just kept going shorter and shorter. When she dried my hair I told her how unhappy I was and that the style was far shorter than what we had talked about. She then argued with me and said she only took 3, I then reminded her that she’d said a maximum of 2. She then argued back saying that it was a good cut and that I needed more cut off because there was so much damage. If that had been the case, I told her she should stopped and asked me before just continuing to cut. An incredibly frustrating experience. Hair grows back I guess.

As a young 20-​something living in NYC on a budget, I spent the last 4 years of my life searching hopelessly for a great stylist that doesn’t cost an arm, a leg, and my first born. I can happily say my search led me right to Fiona and I’ve never been happier.
Fiona is the first stylist in NYC to really listen to what I wanted. She instantly tailored the look that I wanted to my hair type and face shape.
She also took her time. Despite walking in close to closing time, Fiona did not rush one bit. I really appreciate that.
She recognized that my hair is extremely dry and recommended some great products for me to try with absolutely no up-​selling. I did not feel pressured at all. The whole process was super relaxing!
$ 65 for wash + cut. May be the best hidden gem in the city!

Walked in to this place on Christmas eve for a quick fix on my short hair. Joyce speaks fluent Mandarin and had a good grasp of my style, grear service and skills!

Rick is really a master! I was thinking about trying a new style and my roommate highly recommended hair pro and Rick. Well… my roommate was right. Rick wouldn’t disappoint you! Basically he just gave me the lob (maybe a little bit shorter than the lob is) style I wanted! Even my boyfriend who hates bob style all the time is getting to love my new look. LOL. This place is awesome. Fellows are super nice and well technique. They even fix my messy hair from the former barber. They are patient and friendly, you would like to chat with the shop owner for sure.
I highly recommend you cut or dye your hair here. The price is reasonable and you can definitely get any hair style you want.

I have gotten my hair blown out many times at hair pro since they opened. I have used Fiona many times and I cannot say enough good things about her. She’s very friendly and not at all pushy. She has done a great job on my hair every time and I get tons of compliments! I will definitely be a frequent customer! My only complaint is the salon does not have morning hours, but they are open late and everyone deserves some rest ;)!

I needed a haircut and was searching places on Unilocal while walking (pretty dangerous) when I just happened to walk by this place. 30 $ for a cut, not bad. I’m usually very particular about my haircuts and I have weird hair (guy speaking) and I’ve gotten some god awful cuts in the past.
I walked in, and the people were super kind. Always smiling saying thank you, and all that. Got my hair shampooed before hand which was awesome. I love when they massage your head #winning. Then I got the cut. As with any haircut your essentially holding your breath the entire time nervous about whether or not it’s gonna look good and that’s how I felt. I had my doubts, but after a second rinse (yes ladies and gentleman. Two rinses) and a styling my hair looks f-​ing amazing. Oh yes.

I’ve known Rick since 1999, he’s a great master. No one is able to cut my hair the way he does so it looks great the moment I leave his salon.
I have many great memories associated with the Rick’s old Carmine St location. His new location on 6^th Ave looks like has even better prospects. I’ve checked it out for the first time yesterday and it was great. Recommended!

This was my 3^rd visit to Ricky at Hair Pro New York, and the 1^st time for hair color. What can I say? He is brilliant, confident and, unlike other salons, he doesn’t make things more complicated than they have to be to get the results I want, every time. Finally I have a hairdresser in who’s chair I can relax. You can’t beat the prices either! The salon is clean, comfortable and conveniently located, definitely worth my trip from Washington Heights.

In short: This place is amazing, and Fiona is a true master when it comes to hair!!!
I heard about this place from my coworker who came to the office party looking fantastic. She had a new cut, styled with a blow dry and curls. She looked like a whole new person, and me, having hair issues for some time now, I wanted to give this place a try.
Booking was a very easy process. When I walked into the salon, Fiona was already waiting for me. I had a hard time explaining what I wanted, so we went through different options as she played with my hair. Fiona was amazingly patient with me. See, I wanted something edgy but easy to style and maintain.
She then washed my hair, which by the way was the best hair massage, so relaxing I nearly fell asleep right in the chair, and then she proceeded with my haircut.
We agreed on some layers and bangs, which looked fantastic. The way Fiona cut my hair, it looks fantastic whether it is in the ponytail, bun, or loose. I love my cut, I can’t stop playing with my hair, it feels so smooth and lively. I never had bangs before, and I like the way they fringe my face and bring attention to my eyes. As she blow dried my hair, Fiona gave me tips on how to style it at home without making it too complicated.
I was very very happy with my haircut.
The salon itself is clean and bright, lovely atmosphere with reasonable prices. I strongly suggest you check the place out.
