Heavenly Rest Stop is gone! The new tenants are a chain specializing in coffee. I won’t be going back.

Very good food and friendly staff. Was here for brunch and loved the banana bread, it was perfectly toasted with nuts sprinkled on top so they weren’t soggy. Came with lots of fresh fruit too. The avocado smash is also delicious with heaps of limey avocado and lots of fresh tomato. Would give 5 stars but it was a bit pricy for what it was. Awesome space in an old church too!

I was just walking by the central park and was dying for a cup of coffee. This place was first that appeared pleasant for me. When I walked in and saw so many tasty snacks it just boosted up my appetite I decided to have some of them with my coffee. Coffee was pretty good but the cheesecake was just outstanding. I am pretty picky about cheesecakes and it was a nice surprise for me to have such great cheesecake so randomly in the middle of the day.

Location: 5th Ave 89th and 90th St(New York, NY10128) Service: GOOD Price: $$ This was one of my favourite coffee stops while in New York. Their service was really good and the servers were really friendly. Their sandwiches were yummy and their coffees were fresh. It is a really small place and it is easily missed as you walk by. My best friend who needs coffee in her system or else it’s the end of the world(dramatic I know)! So I was Unilocaling and this place popped up and I’m glad it did. The really neat thing about this coffee shop is the fact that it is attached to a church. I guess that’s why it’s called«Heavenly Rest Stop»(silly me! I just figured that out as I’m reviewing it now…)!!! It’s honestly one of the hidden gems in New York. Verdict: It’s heavenly =]

I’ll be honest, we walked so far through Central Park — and were semi lost but semi found — and someone randomly suggested that we could use the bathroom at a nearby church. We didn’t want to just use the bathroom because we felt that it was important to support the business. The cannoli… oh the cannoli. The best cannoli I have ever had. Hands down. There is no competition. I don’t know what they did to it, but it was just delicious.

Go for the great location which is perhaps the only good thing about this little café. Spent $ 4 for the worst cappuccino ever. Not only they don’t serve it in a normal coffee mug but I had to accept it in one of those cardboard coffee cups instead. Had 2 sips and it became clear it was anything but fatty milk and some foam. Honestly, at that price, I just decided to throw it away and never return to this place again. Also, the woman behind the counter was very unpleasant and didn’t say hello or thank you at any point of my transaction.

I was very deceived by this little café. Even if it has a great location(right next to the Guggenheim museum), the coffee had a horrible taste. I couldn’t finish my cup of coffee. Also, the interior has a very greasy smell and I haven’t felt comfortable sitting inside there. All in all, I regretted paying 4 $ for a untasty coffee and uncomfortable location.

Nice spot to grab a coffee or snack by Central Park. Located near the 90th street entrance. Cool seating inside under a cathedral like setting or on some small tables by the sidewalk. Clean bathroom that is useable connected to the church which is next door. Good selection of pastries, sandwiches, snacks, hot drinks, etc. Some wines and beer too. Specials on the board for food and drink. Very friendly and helpful counter staff. This place is a little gem! Caramel spiced apple cider and cranberry orange scone was the perfect energizer after a five mile run in the park!

Good coffee in a great location. When wandering through the park, my friends and I stopped in here for some coffee and baked items. If you’re wandering around the east side of the park, weave your way past the tourists and check this place out.

Great location, right at the 90th st entrance to Central Park and the Reservoir. Indoor and outdoor seating. Easily accessible, relatively clean public bathrooms. And the opportunity to steal a quiet moment in the church while your’e at it.

This place was a nice reprieve from the oppressive heat after walking Central Park for a while. The staff was so friendly and sweet. The AC was wonderful. The beautiful church connected to it had bathrooms open to the public. And there was plenty of seating in the café. It met all our needs and it truly was a great place to rest while touring NYC. Very aptly named.

We live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and we make sure to include this café on our walks around the reservoir. The pies are the absolute best – we are even willing to walk an extra lap around the reservoir to indulge in the apple pie. Everything is made with the best ingredients. There is a good selection with moderate prices. The staff is very friendly, especially the owner, Esther. Paulette

A nice place to… well… rest on your way to the Guggenheim. They offer a variety of sandwiches and paninis. I ordered the tomato and motzarella panini which was tasty, but not extraordinary. I then got a piece of carrot cake to share, but it did not taste fresh. I would give this café 3.5, but since I cannot, I will round up to a 4. I wouldn’t consider this place a destination, but if you need to eat while on your way somewhere, I recomend dropping in! The servers were very friendly.
