If you’re shopping in the diamond district this is the place to go! The selection here is unmatched, there is such an assortment of such unusual items. And the prices are so fair! Stephen is an honest man looking to make a living, not rob you like some of these other places over here. When looking for estate or antique jewelry this is always my first and usually last stop!

Mary Grace made sure that we had the best experience shopping at Antique Jewelry NYC, which is the etsy shop. She was very accommodating with all of our needs. We ordered the ring before we actually saw it and she sent all sorts of photos to my cell phone. She sent a ring appraisal which let me know that they charge very fair prices yet high quality pieces. I would for sure shop with her again. Shipping only took 1 day!

Stephen and Mary Grace are like bright, shining lights in the diamond district. Everywhere else I went to look for an estate diamond engagement ring I felt like I needed a shower. The place is literally crawling with criminals — and if you’ve ever been there, you know this is no exaggeration. But not so with these two. Mary Grace(who runs their Etsy store, Vintage Diamond Rings), was patient and accommodating, while Stephen was knowledgeable and helpful. They spent lots of time pointing out the trickery of the district and took great pains to prove that the diamond was what it was sold as, and that the ring was not a reproduction. As for pricing, all I can say is that they were fair and even generous in their dealing. I highly recommend them. Believe me when I say that NOONE in the district is more trustworthy, fair, and helpful. And, I personally didn’t find a better selection of authentic vintage diamond rings anywhere in New York. BTW, she said yes. :)

My fiancé purchased my gorgeous vintage Victorian engagement ring from Stephen and his wife. They were lovely! If you are looking for a beautiful vintage selection this is the place!

Kind, patient, customer-service focused jeweler with beautiful pieces. My wedding ring came from here, and I couldn’t be happier or love it any more than I do. It matches well with my engagement band, and I look forward to purchasing more pieces from him again in the future. I appreciated the no pressure approach to selecting jewelry. It is obvious he takes pride in satisfying every single customer and stakes his reputation on every piece he sells.

After looking for 4 months, my Fiancé and I bought our 1920’s Art Deco diamond engagement ring from Stephen. We had combed through Etsy, eBay, Brooklyn, and the rest of the city for an Antique dealer… he is by far the fairest priced and biggest selection you will find. He has trays upon trays of rings to choose and he does not pressure you at all. He has tons of knowledge and is very honest and upfront. Our ring did not come with a certificate or any paperwork, just his word of honor and a more then fair return policy. After picking the ring up we took it to Barry Block in Long Island for a unbiased appraisal and the ring turned out to be better then what Stephen had promised us. We are so happy with our purchase, we will definitely be using Stephen again.

I went to Stephen on a recommendation for an antique engagement ring. Stephen had an amazing selection of rings. The hardest part was narrowing the options down. Stephen was attentive to my questions and was very helpful. I felt like he was helping me find the right ring rather than trying to pressure me into buying like many other jewelers. I highly recommend him. I couldn’t be more happy with the ring I purchased.

Your trusted friend in the Diamond District. Stephen Herdemian not only has an amazing collection of vintage jewelry, priced from super affordable to super splurge, but is also a trusted advisor to all things you might need in the Diamond District. He can point you to a booth that does good repairs or someone who carries a specific type of jewelry in which he does not specialize. My husband and I bought my engagement ring there in 1999 and Stephen pointed us to a source for platinum wedding bands. He is super nice, patient, knowledgeable. If you want a beautiful 1920s ring, there is no other place to go.

After spending 6 months looking for a 20’s engagement ring with filigree and sapphires, we finally hit the jackpot. Stephen and his wife, Mary Grace(He is located at 78 West 47th St and she is in 76 just next door.) have the largest collection of estate rings I have seen in NYC or the Hudson Valley. Probably several hundred! Just as I was starting to believe that the ring I had in my mind didn’t exist, we found it here! I was able to try on about 201920’s estate rings with sapphires, diamonds, and filigree. The couple was very knowledgable and honest about diamonds and told me the specifics on each ring(even down to showing me where it was if there was a small inclusion). I am ecstatic with my unique ring and it didn’t break the bank!!! Thank you Stephen and Mary Grace for being a part of our special journey…

If you are looking for antique jewelry, this is the guy. Not just the guy in New York, this is THEGUY. He has hands down the best collection of antique engagement rings and wedding bands that I have seen anywhere. And trust me, I’ve looked a lot. After doing extensive research on the internet to find the best place to find an antique engagement ring, it was clear that Steve not only had the biggest and best quality collection of any of the antique jewelers we found online but also the most reasonable prices. We took a trip from Boston to New York explicitly to buy a ring from him. We were not disappointed. Steve and his wife have shops next door to each other in the Diamond District and their selection is outstanding. Not only do they have more rings to choose from than any antique jeweler I’ve encountered, but their stuff is QUALITY. They have the really rare rings that are genuine antiques but also have good-quality and good-sized(i.e., 1 carat or more) center stones. We spent an entire day in the store picking out the engagement ring(I’m normally decisive, but there were too many great options!). Steve was patient and kept us entertained all day. Most importantly, he never pressured us to buy something more expensive or steer our decision in any way. He was extremely knowledgeable about the diamonds and the antique styles. My husband and I are thrilled with the ring we picked. It’s a beautiful 1920s piece with a 1.5 carat center stone and beautiful hand-done filigree on the shank. We had the ring appraised by an independent appraiser in Boston and were shocked at what a deal we had gotten from Steve. The ring was appraised at nearly twice the price we paid for it. Bottom line — if you want an antique engagement ring, this is the place to go. Simply the best selection, the best prices, and the best personality. I can’t recommend Steve enough! (His selection of other antique jewelry is also amazing — I could have spent another day looking through all of the other beautiful antique jewelry he had in his store, but I’m pretty sure my husband would have killed me!)
