I’ve ordered from here a few times and I’m not that impressed. Found some fish bones in my salmon avocado roll. Not cool.

Great specials and fast service. Definitely consider if you need a go-to spot to meet up with friends for lunch during the week.

I had a chirashi lunch and now am sick. Felt sashimi were not fresh even when eating. Gonna throw up as soon as this review is done.

We go here as a family on christmas and birthdays because we love ordering the sushi boat. I recommend the Tarter and the chilean sea bass spring rolls… so good! Wait staff is awesome and super attentive.

Summary: My go to spot in midtown east for great sushi. Always fresh, always attentive, always yummy. Since I work in the area, my friend and I have become regulars here when she’s in the area and we are never disappointed. Atmosphere: Small, yet cozy space that is inviting. It’s a bit dark but that adds to the coziness factor. Food: Standard sushi fare. The sushi is always very fresh. We love the special rolls, especially the Third Avenue Roll. Service: Super friendly.

The go to spot for inexpensive midtown east sushi. Good lunch deal, fresh sushi and quick service. What’s not to like? The restaurant always seems full when I come with coworkers but they’re usually pretty quick about finding us a table. Glad to be a regular.

Upon entering, I was amazed how pristine the restaurant looks. I sat at the bar and asked the chef for recommendations. He presented me with the freshest sashimi served coldly on ice(who likes sashimi lukewarm?) Uni sashimi was
Definitely a great place to dive into if you’re in the area.

Finally got a chance try Hiroshi again after many years! The interior of place as changed a bit I believe but the food is still great. Came here with my friend Xue T. the other day for their lunch specials. Got the eel avocado, spicy tuna, and spicy crab! maki rolls. It also came with miso soup and salad … All for $ 13! Not bad for sushi lunch in Midtown Manhattan. I’m satisfied with my visit. :)

So I was just here for their afternoon happy hour. Thankfully I made it there 10 minutes before 5pm when it officially ends on Sunday. The first thing I noticed was that only a few people were here but it was Labor Day weekend. The happy hour menu included a good selection of beverages including wine, beer, and sake. The food items ranged from tuna roll to steamed or fried dumplings to spring rolls. I had the hot sake, steamed pork dumplings, and Chilean sea bass spring rolls. All of it was delicious and less than $ 20 total! Very filling too. The service was good. This is a great neighborhood spot to grab cheap, filling, and tasty snacks in the afternoon.

Surprising, unassuming place with very fresh sushi, quickly prepared, and flavorful. I must come back for some other stuff on the menu later. My only complaint are the things that detract from the charm. The idiotic music and the two TV Screens silently showing sports and news.

If you’re on the east side and in the mood for some cheap and good sushi this is the place to go. I have fellow sushi lover friend that works close by so we are here frequently for lunch. I have never had dinner here but I assume the food is just as good. I usually do one of the lunch specials(11 pieces of Sashimi) which comes with the standard Miso Soup and Salad. The soup and the salad are always on point and the Sashimi is fresh and well sized. I did notice some folks mentioned the fish may be small in the rolls, I can’t really critique on the rolls because I mostly eat Sashimi. I did however try a piece of my friends spicy tuna roll and didn’t notice anything wrong with the roll. Overall this is an awesome lunch spot.

Remember when I said this place provided great value? Well no longer. This place has committed the greatest faux pas of any sushi restaurant: skimping on the fish portions. Hiroshi’s fish is so small that you will only be tasting rice. I ordered a shrimp roll(see picture) and expected you know a decent sized shrimp, after all shrimp is incredibly cheap but no I get a SLIVER as if an exacto knife sliced off exactly 1 mm thickness from the original shrimp. Then moving on to the hand roll, Oh dear lord they put 5 pieces of small salmon in there and LOADDDD it up with rice. Like an insane amount of rice. I swear half a cup of rice was emptied into that seaweed wrap. Needless to say, I will not be back here again.

STAYAWAY!!! This restaurant deserves the«B» health grade rating it currently has. Absolutely disgusting. I came here for a birthday celebration with 5 friends at 7PM on a Saturday. First thing I noticed is that there was only one other couple dining here, on a Saturday? Bad sign… We were there to celebrate a birthday and wanted to take advantage of the AYCD deal. We did one«sake bomb» and were reprimanded not to bang on the tables. Realistically, were are all mature adults, but why bother doing sake and beer if you are supposed to slowly sip each separately??? Next — the food. Horrible. I tried a king crab and avocado roll. I found not one, but two bones in my meal. We also ordered a Kani salad that was like Hellmans mayo covering fake crab meat. Overall, the food service and ambiance were TERRIBLE. Take this as your warning and do not try this place!

Meh. Really not impressed. Sushi rice was not even flavored appropriately. Portion is large, however.

Normally, I would have given this place 2.5 stars. Their fish isn’t that good — so be sure to order their specialty rolls or their spicy rolls and use the soy sauce and wasabi. But it is relatively cheap(as compared to the other places in the area) for below average sushi, so we Seamless-ed from here a couple times. But the most recent time, there were bones in my sushi. Like what? I choked a little but managed to hack it back out — could’ve been dangerously awful. Who has bones in sushi?! Dropped it to one star. Will not get sushi from here again.

Solid little lunch spot. It’s bright and clean inside, and staff was very friendly. Maybe a little bit pricey but that’s NYC. Pineapple fried rice 4⁄5 California roll(3.5÷5) tempura asparagus roll(4⁄5)

The sushi here is solidly good and the service is great. I’m only giving this place 3 stars because the sushi is definitely overpriced for the quality and because the restaurant was very hot(yes, hot — temperature-wise) and I think that’s always a weird thing. We came here on a cool Saturday evening in May, and the restaurant was warmer inside than the temperature was outside. The definite up-side of this place is the $ 15 all-you-can-drink sake, wine, or beer. By the glass, the sake/beer/wine is $ 6 – 8, so it’s a good deal if you plan to have more than 2.5 glasses. There’s also a pretty good happy hour here although we haven’t made it here early enough to get the happy hour. The sushi itself is pretty good. The rolls are large and well-proportioned. The menu is huge. Overall though, the sushi is not more memorable than any other sushi place in the area.

We were looking for a sushi restaurant in midtown and many were closing at 2 pm so our choices narrowed. We decided to walk and search on Unilocal and this restaurant looked appealing from the outside. The service was superb and friendly. The food was really good. We took a selection of sushi lunch specials, appetizers and Udon noodles. They all were really good. We will be back!

To avoid the heatwave, my fiancé and I decided to have a lazy Saturday and ordered in something light to share. After going through dozens of Japanese restaurant listings on Seamless, a few interesting rolls on Hiroshi’s menu caught our attention. We ultimately decided to order 3 — Summer Blue Crab, Spicy Blue Crab, and Dancing Dragon. The total ended up around close to 60 dollars with tax and tip — pretty average for Japanese in the area. The food arrived promptly and the first thing I noticed when I opened our bag was the number of sauces they generously gave us(4 containers of soy sauce and 6 additional complimentary specialty sauces that came with each roll). The rolls were HUGE — not stuffed with rice huge — but packed with toppings, avocado, and actual fish. The spicy blue crab and dancing dragon didn’t taste that different from each other — maybe because of the overwhelming eel flavor/sauce and the creamy avocado. They were good but I could have paid less for regular dragon rolls — still be just as happy. I enjoyed my summer blue crab — no rice and wrapped in soy sheet. The mango added an extra hint of sweetness and the cucumber gave its fresh/lightness. However I didn’t notice any sundried tomato in my roll as it listed on the menu. and the«blue crab» was imitation crab meat — paying 15 dollars for fake main ingredient. I felt somewhat cheated. In addition, the two sauces that came with my roll — I couldn’t tell for my life what they were. One was supposed to be a peanut hoisin citrus aioli? and one was supposed to be wasabi dressing. I received one that was more like a sweet and sour sauce that goes with egg rolls and one I still can’t describe what exactly it was — it’s green. so I thought it was wasabi dressing but it was sour and tasted very sesame. Nevertheless, still a very unique, refreshing roll. Good rolls but this place doesn’t really stand out from all the Japanese restaurants in the area. And for the price we paid, will save the $ 60 bucks and make my way to Flushing for some AYCE.

Solid 4 stars. Here’s the way it works: If you spend $ 13 on food, you can pay $ 15 for 2 hours of all-you-can-drink house wine, beer and sake. Basically, $ 28 bucks for food and giant bottles of beer and sake on the table that kept being replaced when empty. Awesome. I wasn’t in the mood for an all-sushi meal, so I ordered a California roll and the chicken & pineapple fried rice. Both were delicious — the sushi was SO fresh! And the chicken fried rice was perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of sweetness from the pineapple. There was quite a variety at the table — many different kinds of sushi, pad Thai, chicken teryaki, ceviche, and nobody had any complaints about their food. The place is pretty small; our table of 11 was jammed in next to the door which was kind of a bummer(every time the door opened and closed we got a cold gust of wind) and 2 other long tables for big parties took up the remaining space. The staff seemed a little busy and flustered at times, but overall it was a great experience. Perfect place for a large group to have some good food and pregame before a night out.
