I’ve been a client of Sharky’s for many years now. He is a wonderful stylist. I always feel great when I leave the salon. He does fantastic work.

Have been going to Sharkie for a few years now. It’s always a great haircut that gets compliments even as it grows out.

Best haircut for guys on the upper west side. The amazing shampoos before your cut might be even better!

$ 40 bucks for a quick male haircut and still cash only!!! Not going back.
Plus the quality is no better than the cheap ones I got in Chinatown. I hate it when the barber/​stylist can’t do exactly what I tell them and instead tell me that I might like my new look. Thanks for your time and I don’t care if everyone else in NYC prefer it that way or not, but I don’t like it. Just do what I tell you to do!

Wonderful experience! I have getting my hair cut and trimmed by I Style owner Sharkey for much longer then I care to write! He is an extraordinary hair cutter and a skilled craftsman. He is attentive to what I want (even when I only ask for a «tiny trim»!) and really understands what works for what face. It has become a family affair with most of my friends and relatives using IStyle for more than a decade with excellent results after my recommendation. Elaine does a great job with washing hair (and gives a great scalp massage!!) I do think some minor things can be improved, including liquid soap in the bathroom and a new mirror there as well! I HIGHLY recommend giving IStyle a shot next time you are on the upper West side.

We were getting our son haircuts here with Jun until they surprised me with a higher price — after we sat in the chair. I told the owner that it was bad business and he should have mentioned the new higher price when we called to confirm. It’s not about the higher price for us though. It’s how the owner handled it — when Jun tried to say it was okay for this time to pay the same amount as we always had, the owner went crazy and yelled at him making everyone — including our 6 yr old son totally uncomfortable. There’s no way we’ll go back knowing that’s how the owner treats his employees and the clients.

The worst hair dresser i got ever.
I got the hair cut by someone that seems to be the owner. The first time ever I got disapointed after a cut, but it s really a DISASTER, my friend who saw me just after told me «I think he forgot a part» … well I have to go to another hairdresser now.
NEVER GO THERE! It s good price but you will regret it, or ask your friend to cut your hair, I m sure they will do a better job!

I’ve been having Jun cut my hair every 4 – 5 weeks for the past few years and am happy with the service he offers.

This place is uneven. I have had a very good haircut there and a very bad haircut. I was told Sharkey does not cut women’s hair and then I saw him cut several women’s hair when I was there. What is that about? The other guy, who supposedly cut women’s hair hardly spoke English and acted like a jerk. Jun is a good haircutter but was not there when I was. The haircutter started blowing dry my hair and then said it would cost me ten dollars more and then did not even comb my hair when I said no, I did not want it blown dry. This is not a smart way to run a salon!

I have had my hair cut by Sharkey for a few years and have never been happier with a stylist. His work has always been remarkable aesthetically and his shop’s prices are the norm for the West Side. And i find him entertaining, kind, compassionate, friendly, and thoughtful – manifesting a very profound experience of life.

I totally agree with the last reviewer. Jun is fantastic. I’ve been going to him every 6 weeks for close to 2 years. I’ve never been anything but happy.
I’ve never gone to Sharky (who owns the place), but Jun is (in my opinion) the best in town. It would be a bargain at any price.

My husband goes to I Style regularly and I go on occasion when I realize that I desperately need a trim. Sharky always cuts my husband’s hair and he does a really great job with it for the price. As for my hair, I prefer Jun because he really listens to what you want (but that’s just me). With that said, Sharky has cut my hair too and I’ve never walked out with a bad hair cut from the salon (although the last time he cut my hair I walked out with 3 inches gone instead of the 1 – 2 inches I had asked for, but no big deal). $ 45-​$ 60 in cash is a great price in NYC for a decent haircut. My only real complaint is that I wish they took credit cards.

If u r trying to grow your hair or have long hair, DO NOT go to I style to get your hair trimmed by SHARKY (little asian man that wears shorts with leather shoes all yr round) I had beautiful healthy waist length hair. Told him i wanted ¼’ cut off my ends. I was extremely adamant about how i only wanted to trim my ends & NOT to cut more. As he’s cutting my hair im telling him a horror story that I once went for a trim & half my hair was cut off & i freaked out. Since then im very careful who touches my hair. Long story short, he cut 4′ off. my waist length hair was now layered & a little below my shoulders. He massacred my hair. Completely disregarded my concern & what i desired. SHARKY is a self centered– cocky hairdresser. He only cares about what HE thinks it should be, rather then what you’ve instructed. He kept saying how beautiful it looked, never owning to fucking up my hair. I spent so much time, money & lots of care to grow healthy long hair. My hair was my signature, part of my soul. IM DEVASTATED! HE SHOULD APOLOGIZE!!!
