I used to pass by this truck all the time, and each time I would laugh. A ramen truck, really? But hey, I got desperate one day for a quick and cheap lunch and finally stopped by. I ordered the spicy crab kimbob, which was basically a giant sushi roll with a crap ton of rice and shredded crab(as well as some smaller crab sticks). It came with this sauce that was somewhere between Thousand Island and spicy mayo. The menu also says that the rolls come with kimchi, but it’s just a few pieces. What they really should be advertising is the miso soup that it comes with. It’s a hefty cup, and loaded with goodies(including MSG, I’m sure). Not a meal that’ll win awards, but it was filling and $ 7. I’m sure the college kids appreciate it.

Remember that you r paying for shin ramen instant noodles and I think most who buys it understands that. I work nearby and get udon noodle here occasionally at $ 6 can’t really complain, the old Korean lady is always polite and nice and gives free kimchi(tho very tiny) for each order. I’ve tried the Raman once but can’t in my mind justify paying $ 6 for something I can roughly imitate for $ 1 at home. I know u can say the same for udon as well but I don’t have a box of udon at home(which I do have for shin ramen).

I ordered the Beef Ramyun. Visuals: It’s a blue truck in the corner of Baruch’s vertical campus. Since I’m not a big fan of ordering dishes from food trucks I was apprehensive. I like to see people sanitize the cooking area, is it just me? So, I was happy to see the the workers clean and spray their area and have only one person touch the money. Wait: 10 minutes. The method of «Ask first and pay later» makes it easier for customers to relax and the cooks to focus. Size: It’s 32oz. Equivalent to 4 full cups of soup. Taste: Oh yeah Bebe. The soup was heavenly. IKimchi excited my taste buds. In the soup, there’s bulgogi beef, tofu, scallions, cucumber, ramen, egg, seaweed, spring onions and carrots. The portions of the meat and egg were huge. I had to drop my chopsticks and turn to the spoon and fork. As I slurp the noodles inside the campus cafeteria, the only thing that I could think of was«This soup reminds me of my mother’s soup.» Will I go here again?: Um. cheah! For a food truck to have high quality food, and vibrant menu choices by Baruch? You will be seeing me IKIMCHI again…

I was speaking to a classmate who was telling me about his trip to Japan this summer and how he had authentic ramen. As soon as he said«ramen» I instantly thought of this little food truck on the corner of 25th street and Lexington avenue. It’s been about a year or so since I saw Ikimchi. From what I’ve noticed, there is always small crowd of people, never really a crazy line. The ramen pictures on the truck always caught my attention, but for some reason I never made it here until two days ago. My classmate warned me that these noodles are not authentic, but I’m more of a «check it out myself» kind of gal, so I gave it a shot. First off, the food ranges from $ 5-$ 8, very affordable for those who are on a budget. Also, they sell these gigantic sushi rolls called«kimbob,» which everybody except myself was ordering. I ordered the spicy chicken ramen, and it actually wasn’t bad. I just think it was a little too spicy(so spicy, my boogers were dripping down my nose– sorry probably too much info). Today, I went back to try the regular chicken ramen, and it was pretty good. Better than the spicy chicken. Overall, I’d say their broth could be a little more flavorful, but I’ve had worse. I think this truck is pretty convenient. I will come back(sometime in the near future) to try those huge rolls.

Pretty good food. Its a food truck, you cant expect too much. I had the spicy pork and it was delicious. This is definitely a good option other than the regular NYC food trucks. Ask for the spicy mayo on top of your food. I will definitely come back!

The food is okay for $ 5. I’m not too thrilled about how they collect payment. As usual I waited in the long line besides the cart, one of the workers as usual comes down the line taking orders and collecting payment. This particular time I gave the guy a $ 20 bill, he went back to the cart to communicate orders and totally got distracted. I did not realized what happened until after 6pm when they were long gone. When I brought the matter to their attention, no one took responsibility to give me back my change of $ 15. But as a Newyorker I’m not surprised. They should seriously change their method of collecting payment, it doesn’t work. Just remember if you eat here make sure to have exact change!

The lady in the cart cannot do simple math. 5 plus 6 is 11. I gave her 20 dollars and she gave me 4 dollars back. We corrected her and she yells at us for her mistake. She ended up overcharging me because she messed up my order. NEVERGOINGBACK

Solid food cart for lunch. Think of it as korean halal, but instead of lamb meat you get this really delicious choice between pork, beef or chicken. My friend likes to bring me ikimchi for lunch once in a while and it never fails to disappoint. The flavor is definitely there and for less than 10 bucks, we have ourselves lunch. Score.

I find myself going to food trucks on the hottest days. During lunch hours, iKimchi has the longest line since it’s right by Baruch College. They serve up decent lunch boxes ranging from $ 5 – 7 dollars. There were like 3 – 4 different workers to get the process going quicker. One cook, an assembler, a waiter that takes the order and a person that runs back and forth refilling anything in the little cart. It’s efficient. I had the Spicy Fried Pork with fried rice. Wasn’t too crazy about the fried rice, maybe I should stick with white rice next time. The fried rice was a bit hard, like it’s been sitting there for a really long time. The pork on the other hand was flavorful, generous amount was given. Kimchi was ok, salad was good also — especially the dressing it came with. So, verdict is — 3.5÷5. I’ve had better, but for $ 6 it’s a good deal.
