I really liked this place. It’s cozy, clean, lots of local charm. I used to take my parents here to eat a lot, but the last time we were there during the dinner rush the waitress(who is an older woman) was very rude to us. She scoffed at me when I asked to substitute breaded chicken for grilled and then slammed our plates down on the table when our food was ready — so much so that fries shot off the plate and all over the table. I had to ask 3 times over the course of 15 minutes for honey mustard, and when she finally brought it to us she basically flung it the bottle. I get that the dinner rush is stressful, but there was no reason for her to be as rude as she was. Tonight we wanted to go here but based our bad experience eating in, we ordered take-out. BIG mistake. We ordered 3 things — a Greek salad, spinach pie, and a triple-decker chicken sandwich with honey mustard on the side. I repeated the order to the woman on the phone twice and said before hanging up, «Please don’t forget the honey mustard.» So what did we get? Two Greek salads(yes, they charged us for both) and a piece of fried chicken on a breakfast sandwich roll. No spinach pie. No honey mustard. And the wrong sandwich. As someone who works in the food industry, I’m really underwhelmed with the service at this place. I don’t think we’ll be going back.

My experience here was so bad that I am the actual asshole who made an account just to warn people about this place. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a clean spot and the prices were for the most part fair. The portions were good and the food was fine. Our waitress(blonde woman, although I didn’t catch her name) was very kind to us. It was a pretty good experience up until this point and I was perfectly happy to be spending my birthday here. Yes. My birthday. It all went downhill until we went up to pay. The manager was at the register and shot us down immediately and told us that he doesn’t take credit cards of any kind. Fair enough if you run your business like so, but at the very least have a sign outside or immediately when you walk in… Because there wasn’t one anywhere. Unfortunately, we only had credit cards on us and the manager didn’t apologize for the inconvenience or anything. He immediately got very rude with us and said that we would have to use their sketchy ATM machine which was in the back and looked like it may very well be the first ATM machine to ever be introduced to mankind. We did not feel comfortable using that because not only were we about to get charged to use this machine, but you just can’t trust such machines and feel comfortable that you won’t get your information stolen. Anyway, I decided that my boyfriend would stay behind as I ran my eight months pregnant ass down to the bank to take out some cash. I didn’t feel comfortable being left behind because of how rude the manager was being, so I practically ran at the opportunity. When I was on my way back and stuck in typical midday Staten Island traffic, my boyfriend called me to make sure I was almost back because apparently the manager was being THAT rude. And honestly I knew it had to be bad because my boyfriend has a lot of patience. I finally got back there and before I even walked back in, I actually double checked the entire restaurant from the outside in to make sure I didn’t miss a «cash only» sign or anything indicating that they didn’t take cards. We paid, and of course we tipped the waitress who had nothing to do with this and she was very apologetic. My boyfriend was so agitated and in a rush to leave so when I asked him what happened, he said the manager told him he should have known because there wasn’t a sign saying which specific cards were accepted. BUT it IS2016 and that kind of thing doesn’t fly anymore. If you don’t accept a card, it needs to be specified. He kept digging and essentially told my boyfriend it was his fault for not connecting the dots, and then he walked off and hid in the back presumably until we left. Oh but better yet, it was brought up to him that they didn’t have any updated systems simply because they cost money… And it was said with an attitude as though it was my boyfriend’s fault. Like, okay, cool, your entire business costs money, actually. Maybe if you were to keep up with the times, you wouldn’t lose customers and you would be able to afford that new system? I’m sure they just receive a bunch of regulars and don’t see many new faces there… Because if that’s how they felt comfortable treating us when it was our first time there, I can’t even imagine what else goes on there. If we weren’t honest people, we probably would have just walked off without paying. If this dude is too cheap to have the appropriate equipment to continue to compete with other businesses, I highly doubt he would even pay for any type of camera or security system. So if anybody with the balls is looking for a good dine and dash, by all means, go here. By the time he turns the dial to call the cops on his phone from the 1970’s, you’ll have the chance to be over any bridge to get you off the damn island. Oh and by the way, for a place called the Island Coffee Shop, their only coffee option is literally coffee. Not even a latte, espresso, etc. It’s seriously some watered down Folger’s. Good day. You’ve been warned.

Love the simple basic approach especially for breakfast love the specials with eggs the best bacon and home fries. The pancakes are huge and will fill you up nicely. The coffee probably the best coffee on SI. Also very reasonable priced specials

I’ve been a patron of the island coffee shop for many years. I love this place for breakfast lunch or dinner. The staff is like family and the food keeps me coming back for more. Coffee is fantastic. My top picks for breakfast are the omelettes and pancakes. My favorite way to order the home fries are well done and with peppers and onions. Well worth a visit!

Had me breakfast here. It’s a nice clean little shop and the workers are nice, seems like there’s regulars here. I ordered me a breakfast platter($ 7.00) which was two eggs, sausage, home fries and toast with a free coffee. It looked good but actually wasn’t. Home fries were burnt, sausage looked and tasted like it was just re heated and the coffee tasted burnt. I don’t think I will be going back. Maybe there’s other food that taste better there but breakfast so far wasn’t a plus!

Always solid and always good. My favorite Greek salad on the island! I’ve been a patron for years, from when they were at their old location, and they’ve remained very consistent. Love the staff and it’s a homey atmosphere.

Food was good, typical Staten Island diner fair. Good service. My only qualm was that its pricier then other diners. We both got extra chicken in our meals, but a gyro without fries and a salad with 2 coffees for 40 $ feels excessive. Would probably just go to Staten Island Diner next time.

It’s been a while since I’ve eaten here but my girlfriend and I must have come here at least 3 or 4 times last year for dinner. Our dates tend to be on the cheap side, but we love a good, quaint, and typically small place to dine and enjoy each other’s company. Whenever we came here there was always a place to sit, never too crowded, and the staff was extremely friendly. I started off getting waffles on our first couple visits, and my gf would get a burger with sweet potato fries. She loves her burgers rare, and they usually did a good job of it. I switched my usual to a tuna salad after a few visits and really enjoyed it. They are so quick with the food! We must have gotten our meals no more than 10 minutes after ordering. This is one of those places you just have to come back to more than once. Their menu has a lot of variety, and they are just so so nice. Our meals were usually under &10 each. I actually think my tuna salad was more like $ 5, and it really filled me up.

Awesome place. I can see why Islanders love it. Very homey atmosphere. The waitress was very attentive. Mornings are packed here but I never felt rushed to leave. Great family place. We ordered two French toast with sausage, juice, coffee, an extra side of scrambled eggs and a Mickey Mouse pancake for baby all for $ 20 The breakfast was very good. Thick cut breakfast sausage, crispy bacon. I usually prefer thick sliced French toast but it still tasted very good.

Cute place. The service was good the woman was very attentive to me and my friend. I got a ham sandwich with cheese. It was really good. Except the ham was too thick. It look kind of like packaged ham. The parking is terrible because it is a busy street. I would def. Come back here and give it a second try, perhaps get something different. My friends grilled cheese didn’t look that great either

Poor service and staff don’t care if new arriving customers cut the wait line and seat themselves. First time arrived at 30 min before end of breakfast special and was not taken care of until 5 min past special and was told special no longer applies. Second time, wait staff very rude and we left for a different brunch place. Their food is good, but not enough to compensate for the disorganized mess nor the short tempers of the staff.

Don’t let its appearance fool you, this may look like a nice relaxing place to get breakfast but that’s far from it. Waitress rushed us out when we were clearly not done yet. Limited menu, and they don’t accept credit cards smh
