Jennifer is the first therapist I have ever talked to, and after my first five sessions I can confidently say that I look forward to working with her as long as I am able to. Originally, she and I didn’t have times that matched up in our schedule, but she was patient and worked with me and actually moved things around so she could accommodate me. Upon meeting her, I instantly liked her vibe. She has been warm and lovely to talk to, and has asked me many questions that have forced me to rethink some thoughts I was having about possible life and career changes. I highly recommend her services.

After reading the negative review of Jennifer, I have to step in to say Jennifer has been one of the only reasons I survived the first year after the sudden death of my brother. As soon as I emailed her explaining my situation, she got back to me and although it was right around Thanksgiving 2013, she came in the day after Thanksgiving to meet with me. Since then she has been amazing and has, at times, dropped everything to take emergency phone session for me. She might not have time for new clients because she’s the best at what she does and she’s booked solid. I thank my lucky stars that Jennifer is my therapist. She is one of the most caring and warm people I have ever met. Take it from someone who had more than just a few email exchanges with Jennifer and has gone every week since November 2013, she’s amazing and I’d highly recommend her to everyone.

Don’t be fooled by her warm, inviting website! As you can see below, she is a cold, callus, uncaring individual who is borderline unethical in her correspondence with potential clients. Dismissing a potential client like she does below without even half heartedly offering other options is a true failure of Jennifer Abcug’s. Did she sleep through the patient communication section of her therapist training? At a minimum, she could have sent me a link to a website directory. What if it took me major courage to seek counseling? Or what if I have a much more serious issue than I divulge in my initial email? Below is our actual exchange of emails: To: Subject: Possible Appointment? Hi! I am a wife and mother with a full time career, and thought it would be nice to take time for me and get a mental health checkup! A couple of questions: 1) Do you have any appointments in the evening(6pmish)? 2) Do you accept Cigna Open Access Plus insurance? Thanks! * From Jennifer Abcug I’m so sorry — my schedule is booked solid. Regrets, –jennifer * Me: for the near future or eternity? * Jennifer: It’s very hard to say. My evenings are booked for the foreseeable future. my best, Jennifer Abcug, LCSW 25 Central Park West, Suite 1U New York, New York 10023 212.757.1894 Sent from my iPhone, please excuse typos and brevity. * Jennifer Abcug’s exchange with me is the antithesis of what an initial contact with a therapist should be. Perhaps Jennifer should look into therapy herself, to perhaps try and reconnect with the oath she took when undertaking this profession to be of service and of help to those in need. Her website asks the question«What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?» and right now I plan to help anyone considering utilizing Jennifer as her therapist to STEERCLEAR.
