We got Khushie’s for the first time for dinner because my bf LOVES Indian food. As do I. This is so much better than the place he used to go to in Midtown. The one in midtown was wayyy too spicy, esp. with this one type of numbing/tingling spice. It was like you couldn’t even taste the food anymore — it was just texture and HOTNESS. Not so with Khushies! Mild spiciness and you can totally taste the flavors of the veggies, sauces, and meats. Oh yeah and the chicken here is much more tender. Unlike the chewy, tough, stringy one at the midtown place. We got the tikka masala and a veggie thing with cauliflower and potatoes. Also some bread things. Yum.

This is the only Indian place on Seamless that delivers to my apartment, so we tried it out of necessity during a girls’ night in. For that reason, I can’t speak to the ambiance/environment of the actual brick-and-mortar restaurant, but they did deliver on time, and the food was pretty solid. I was a little disappointed that they don’t have malai kofta on the menu, but my chicken korma was flavorful and had plenty of meat. I did think it was a bit strange that they charge you $ 1 extra for all white meat(er, what else do they use if you don’t pay that surcharge?) but all’s well that ends well.

Ok this place does look like a chinese takeout place, but the food is not bad at all. I had chicken saag which was pretty solid. Yeah it was not loaded with meat, but it was fresh and hot on some pretty good rice. The prices are comparable with indian restaurants you have a table cloth at, and have lights, but come on guys $ 8 – 9 for a meal is not very bad at all. Could it be $ 1 cheaper, well maybe. I eat a lot of indian food and complain often about lack of spice/flavor but this was very flavorable. Tip: Ask them to make it spicy for you. I did, and it was perfect. So definitely not a place for a date, or a formal dinner, but for a quick food fix, you could do a lot worse than this place.

I think it’s decent-to-solid; definitely flavorful. I don’t order particularly spicy things, so I can’t comment on whether or not it’s firey enough for people into that sort of thing. My chief complaint are the portions. When I pay 9 bucks for a pint container of curried chickpeas, I expect the container to be stuffed with chickpeas. They’re really cheap! Instead it’s about half full; the meat entrees have ~7 two-bite chunks of chicken. I just ate dinner and I’m still hungry =/ Also takeout doesn’t come with any of that green chili/mint sauce or the red oniony things or yellow dal or anything else like most of the other Indian restaurants around here include.

This is a great place to go to on an empty stomach, in terms of food, the food is made of pure win. My favorite dish is the Tikka Masala(so far, I am eager to try much more dishes from here). The rice is amazing and the chicken is orgasmic. This may not be the best place for a night out, but the food definitely makes up for it. The restaurant is on the small side, but clean and has a great smell. The workers are so kind, and you rarely see that in foreign food based restaurants these days. The prices are also something to leave your wallet full as well. Definitely would take this food for takeout every week if I lived in Manhattan.

People must have visited Khushie on a bad day, because even I will get off my tooshie to visit Khushie. The dining companion and I stepped in here after walking from those East Village Indian restaurants like Panna, where we were literally harrassed… the place is quite small and unassuming. No chili pepper lights. The man at the counter was very nice and informative, and kindly brought us free water. The food was really good: try the special, where for $ 13, you get an appetizer, an entrée, rice, and naan. Everything was cooked perfectly: the rice was fluffy, the chicken was tender, and the curry vindaloo was spicy but didn’t leave me writhing in tears. Will I return? Absolutely?

If you’re looking for spicy in your tummy, Khushie Kitchen is not the place to go. Everything I got was bland, bland, bland. The garlic naan was bland. It lacked something as simple as salt, and the garlic wasn’t pungent at all. The chicken tikka masala was bland, and the uniformity of the gravy color looked very suspect. The aloo gobi was really disappointing. Bland. Well, the service was decent. The guy that took our order and handed us our food was nice enough. The food wasn’t that cheap too. You’d expect a hole-in-the-wall to be cheap. This place ain’t. And I had to clear my bowels pretty much right afterward. Not good. I feel a little bad for dissing a place that’s probably just trying to make a living, but this is Unilocal,y’all.

Indian is one of my favorite types of cuisines because I’m a big fan of intense, tangy, and spicy food. When I passed Khushie Kitchen, I thought I might as well give this place a try. The interior of this establishment is very unassuming, and relatively clean. The only thing I really didn’t like was the Chinese take-out style picture menu board above the cashier counter. I might even call the place cute if it wasn’t for that. I ordered the Lamb Madras, which is lamb curry cooked with coconut chutney and spicy south Indian tempering served with Basmati Rice. The flavor was very on point for my taste; the curry had just the right level of tart and spice. The lamb was tender enough. I wasn’t blown away but I would definitely repeat.

I’ve gone here twice for takeout and for the LES neighborhood, this place is pretty good for indian food. Take out only, since it’s pretty dingy, unless you were eating by yourself and wanted a quick meal. I’ve ordered the kofta, saag paneer, tandoori chicken, naan and samosas. The food takes some time to get after you order it, which I think is a good thing because they seem to be making it fresh. The portions are pretty typical for indian food in the sense that they were a bit on the smallish size, but the food is pretty filling because it’s pretty rich. For indian food, there wasn’t anything super out of the ordinary about it — just good tasting north indian grub. Each dish that I saw was under $ 10 though in the higher range $ 8 – 9. Would be great if they were a shade cheaper, without compromising on the quality.

I went to this hole-in-the wall place, in hopes of feeding my hunger for heat. I ordered the lamb curry, a standard Indian/Pakistani dish. Once my order was ready, I quickly rushed home, anticipating some fire in my belly. Once home, I took my first bite — and became confused. I thought«Where’s the heat?!?» No restaurant specializing in only Pakistani/Indian fare should ever have be questioned in their distribution of spice! Further, the rice was more like rice AND water — gross. I threw away most of my lamb-curry with rice soup away. Boo.

really sad because the area could use more choices for indian. but decided to give it one LAST go… and i will definitely not be going back. even if you’re craving and really need a fix, this is still not the place for you. the food is so sub par and truly isn’t worth the $$. was hoping things had changed since i last ate here but sadly it’s gotten worse. i stick by my original review except that the food has gotten a little worse.

Ordered delivery for lunch. chicken biryani(good), samosa(really good), pakora(not so good), garlic naan(average). I think it would have been better if I ate it there(instead of having it delivered), as the crispy stuff(pakora /samosa) wasn’t crisp — it was wrapped in wax paper bags and got kinda mushy during delivery. Solid food all-around. 30 minute delivery. It wasn’t the best and it wasn’t the worst.

my third day in nyc, i was having emo times. i was homesick and wanted to go back to my californian home. i woke up super early and spent my time high as a kite watching«what not to wear». to keep myself a little busier, i was looking through the many menus that my cousin had stashed in her cabinets and i was trying to figure out what i should eat for that day and have it delivered. i didn’t feel like going out; i was THAT emo. i decided on indian food that was close to where i was located. i just wanted to try the chicken tikka masala since i loved the one i ate in sf(orange sauce). thirty dollars later, i was having a picnic for one in my cousin’s studio. i couldn’t believe how much food i bought, but i ended up eating everything — not in one sitting. the chicken tikka masala was alright. it was still good, but i wanted it to be a little on the sweet side. just a smidge. decent food. good pricing(just dont go too crazy with the menu like i did), fast delivery.

If I had an Indian mom, the woman who owns(?) this establishment would be her. I used to go here quite a lot and get either the saag paneer or chana masala and samosas. She would always chat with me about how my day was and everything while I waited for my food. She always gave me extra tamarind sauce and let me get a bucket of that crunchy fennel and candy mix. Then everything was packed neatly in a brown paper bag, like sending me off to school. The food here isn’t mind-blowing, but it’s pretty solid. The spinach in the saag paneer always tasted pretty fresh, with good cheese. The chana masala wasn’t not to greasy or soupy. The samosas also were not too oily. Make sure to check out the awesome light up painting thing on the right hand wall. You can’t miss it because it emanates bird chirpy noises.

My boyfriend lives in the LES and this is our go-to for Indian food. I always get the Chana Sagg and ask for it spicy – delish! Also, they people who run the place are very nice. I highly recommend Khushie for an affordable meal to-go.

A tiny place(no atmosphere) that has quite a few outstanding dishes. Really good Chicken Saag and Chana Masala. Great homemade mango chutney. Check out their lunch special for a deal. Sadly, their regular prices are climbing.

Used to love Khushie and order from them all the time, but then they gave me very severe food poisoning. Health dept says they don’t have proper handwashing facilities — my doctor said that was probably what made me sick. :(

I heart Khushie. It made the top 100 in the Voice last year, and i’d been meaning to go ever since. Well, i’m happy to know there’s good Indian food-to-go in my neck of the woods. I measure all Indian restos by their chicken tikka masala, the most typical«American» dish that gets ordered i know(and yet i still love the stuff). it’s not the best of the best, but it’s pretty good, and they give you heaps of it, and plenty of rice too. definitely enough chow to feed 2, and for $ 8.50, it’s a deal. the only thing that bummed me out was the burned naan — charred around the edges. guess i’ll stick to the mains(there’s a bunch of lamb, chicken, shrimp, and veggie options) when i go back.
