So met my current bf 1 ½ yrs ago. Had been dating for about 1 month and decided to spend Vday together. not sure how we picked where we went, but he wanted Soho, so we picked Kin Khao, and Im so glad we did! It will def. be a Vday ill never forget. We sat right in the front by the bar. and at first I was like ew, this is so not romantic, but then as the night went on, it was more crowded in the back and it was almost just us in the front with the bartender. We sat on the same side of the booth, and it was extremely cozy and romantic. Our bartender made a mean dirty martini, and the food was great and portions werent huge, so that you didnt fall asleep after eating. Loved it and would defintely go back!

Kin was one of the first thai places I tried in NY and I initially really liked it until I started trying some other places. I do like the décor, atmosphere and the food is ok, however, over priced for what your getting. I’d actually rate them a 3 star if it wasn’t for their horrible delivery service. On several occasions the delivery has taken over an hour, they’ve «lost the address» or «forgot to charge the CC» on occasion and I just can’t justify $ 50 for delivery of two dishes and a soup. I don’t like their tom yum, and their whole fried fish was dried out. Yes the masaman kari is great and their drinks are good as well but I won’t deliver again from them ever and may opt to go to other spots in the area to dine in next time I have a Thai craving.

I went here with a bunch of friends the other night. Not very loud and we had a nice private space in the corner. All in all, it was very good. The spring rolls tasted fresh and delicious… the Som Tam green papaya salad was excellent(I think it came with sticky rice.) The Pad See-Yew was a little grainy, meaning there were little bits of something in it which made the texture strange. Otherwise, the Pad See-Yew was just average. Everyone else’s dishes(that I tried) were very good. The price for 6 of us, with drinks(no dessert), was $ 350… but check to see if a gratuity has been added. We almost gave a large tip and then saw the 20% gratuity tacked on. Service was okay except I ordered some kind of fruity tropical drink(it’s summer, cut me some slack) and got a whiskey sour instead.

Nothing memorable about this place other than green curry sauce over rice. The fish is not well cooked at all leaving a bad taste in my mouth. The appetitizers and desserts are decent but nothing more than that. It’s ok to give it a try, but not a repeat.

Cool atmosphere but don’t expect real Thai food. The entire wait staff is American which leaves me wondering about the kitchen. The Muslim Curry was quite memorable, although does not taste like authentic gang Massaman. The bar area is a really nice place to hang out and wait for friends as they come in. A good place for groups. I like the red décor and the big booths. A cool concept, bringing a bit of trendy to Thai.

So, I got invited to this place for a friend’s birthday dinner. Wasn’t expecting anything out of it. So, I ordered the lemongrass steak and that tasted pretty good. A day later I was walking by this place with some friends and we were deciding where to go eat so I mentioned this place and we all went in to try. One word: YUMMY The Massaman Kari was awesome. I’m typically carb conscious but this is like the first time in a very long time that I had eaten TWO bowls of rice! I dunked the bowl of rice into the pot of curry and started eating away. I am definitely going back to try the other curry dishes!

Um, yuck. It’s akin to Lemongrass Grill so if you think that’s good, authentic Thai, you’ll like Kin Khao. If you’re desperate for good Thai in Soho you’re pretty much out of luck unless you want to cough up the big bucks for Kittichai(which is well worth it by the way!!).

Good food and cool atmosphere — very dark, with a lot of woods and hanging decorations. The food is quite tasty, but a touch overpriced for what it is. However, that said, one could argue that you are paying for SoHo and the atmoshere, and wouldn’t be completely wrong. If you want legitimately tasty Thai food and you happen to be in SoHo, you can’t really go wrong with this place. I always enjoy it and it definitely never fails to hit the spot if you are craving some quality Thai.

I like the atmosphere a lot, and the food is pretty good(I’d recommend sharing), but something that stands out is their multiple homemade infused vodkas… the ginger being a favorite.

The best Muslin Curry I have ever had. Blows away every other one in the city. The rest of the food is good too. But get the Muslin Curry! Server of not so nice, and the kitchen does not know English(the waitstaff does not know Thai), so it can get amusing if you request special preparation. Do just to watch the face of your server drop.

At least from my time there, Kin Khao was one of the first places I tried upscale versions of something I took to be a traditional regional cuisine, in this case Thai food. The last time I was here was with a group of five people, and that’s a good way to try a lot of dishes. Plus, the crowd is lively, making the atmoshpere perfect for an impromptu celebration. My favorite dishes are teh Massaman Kari, which other Unilocalers seem to like as well, but also the the Phad See Yew, and their take on Pad Thai. It’s a simple and common dish, but perhaps because of that I really appreciate it when a restaurant really gets it right. The Tom Yum Gung hot and sour soup is a great way to start your meal.

Kin Khao is one of the better authentic Thai restaurants in the city. The place is rather spacious, and the atmosphere is lively, with an eclectic crowd. Their Pad Thai was prepared perfectly and the Massaman Kar(curry with beef, coconut milk, tamarind, & potatoes) was even better! I will definitely be going back.

Great thai food. It’s regional thai, so you have some nice options. The Massaman curry is fabulous. Very hearty, and perfectly spiced. The green papaya salad is a perfect start. The drinks are creative as well. Atmosphere is nice… good lighting, rustic romantic mood.
