Ugh this bar is truly disgusting. Why people go to this bar and spend their money!!!

Worst experience ever. Mostly due to the flippancy of management and carelessness of staff. No feign of an apology. They lost my card, most likely giving it to someone else. Accused me of misplacing it and then saying that because they never charged my card in the system that they didn’t have it. Pull up my banking and sure enough charge is pending. Show the manager and he tells me I have to look on the other side of the bar on the floor where people are standing. Not once did they take out a flashlight and look near their feet at their side of the bar where they were standing. Prior to this each bartender put the blame on the other and had this oh well attitude, I don’t have it. Here for a friends birthday party. First time here and I will NEVER come back. WOULDNOTRECOMMENDTHISPLACETOANYONE. Management left me visibly upset and shaken.

I was really impressed with Kingston Hall. To enter, you walk up a flight of outside steps and arrive in a really sterile, white, bright building lobby, but rather than proceed up the stairs, hang a left into the ancient door. What you’ll find is a dark, classy, stylish, comfortable place with good service and great drinks. Kingston Hall has the lived-in feel of an old club or speakeasy. The fireplace, billiards table and artwork give it a homey feel. The bartender was friendly, made good recommendations and mixed up great drinks. The music(at least early in the evening) was at a great volume for chatting with friends. My friends and I really enjoyed Kingston Hall, which seemed a cut or two above the average East Village bar.

Hay, Kingston Hall. You’re proof one can’t always judge a bar by its Unilocal rating. Came here for a friend’s birthday and was skeptical given the iffy rating but truly enjoyed it! It’s easy to walk past this place if you don’t know where to look(at least it was for me) but once inside, you’ll be glad you came. The interior is pretty spacious for an East Village bar and is rocking the whole Kingston-island-vibe. As many have noted, their signature drink is a coconut rum cocktail served inside an actual coconut! If that’s not therapeutic in the winter, nothing is. Naturally, I ordered one. It was tasty but not as sweet or rich as I was expecting; think a lightened-up piña colada with a hell of a lot of rum. The bartenders were quick and nice and actually gave you the leftover cocktail that didn’t fit in the coconut in a glass. That’s bang for your buck. A fun option if you’re in the neighborhood!

I would have enjoyed this place had the staff not been clearly drunk, racist, and rude. I like the look and location, but will not be returning.

This place is a hidden gem above the college bars downstairs. Kind of hard to find but it’s up the stairs to the right of the bar below and through the gated door. Upon walking in I was amazed with the ambiance of the place — everything is dimly lit but decorated with intense detail. I really loved all of the rooms within the bar and how quaint everything was. Make sure you get the coconut drink, it was delicious! Minus one star for how expensive the cocktails were, but I guess it’s expected in NYC. Would definitely recommend for a low key night with friends, or after dinner drinks with a date. I have to come back for the awesome happy hour deal.

Kingston Hall is a hidden gem along 2 ave. I honestly couldn’t locate the place until someone saw me looking like a lost kitten and helped me lol. I went with a few of my friends to try the frozen coconut drink. The coconut is actually real! I thought it was going to be a coconut themed glass. The drink is $ 14 and it’s DELICIOUS. It has a good balance of flavor and alcohol. Once we finished our coconuts we enjoyed the happy hour drinks. Just a heads up, if you don’t want to spend another $ 14, get rum with pineapple, and grenadine off the 2 for 1 happy hour menu and pour it into the coconut. Almost the same great taste for half the price. We ordered some wings and burgers. The food was good as well. There’s a pool table in the back to enjoy a quick game with some friends. The only bad thing about this place is the seating is limited. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a different experience in NYC.

This one was recommended to me by a local and even though I was there on a Monday night, there’s were plenty of cool people to mingle with or there were enough seating areas to just chat with the people you already know. Happy hour was till 8 and it was buy one get one free. With your first drink you get a chip to hold on to until you want your second one. Cool place in the village to start or end an evening out.

Hidden from the street but very cool rustic steampunk interior. Beers were around $ 8 but you get a token for a free drink for happy hour. Got pretty busy around 10 and the back with the pool table was closed for a private party. Overall cool vibe, nice bartenders and decent drinks.

Try the Drunken Coconut. It’s kind of strong but gets the job done and you get to hold on to an actual coconut.

I was here around 11pm on a weekend and this place was packed! My boyfriend and I came to meet some friends for drinks and we were initially unable to find the entrance because it was so non-distinct. It literally looked like the entrance to an old apartment building, with what seemed like a random guy chilling by the staircase(who later turned out to be the bouncer). We were blown away by the contrast between the actual bar and the entrance. The outside is meh, but once you’re inside it’s like you’ve entered the set of Raiders of the Lost Ark. I really like the décor, but that’s about it. My friends and I stood by the fireplace because it was the only place available. We later realized that the reason why no one was standing there earlier was because the fireplace was freakin’ hot! Also, because it was so crowded, there were numerous people pushing past us carelessly and either spilling their drinks on us or causing us to spill ours. The drinks were pretty average, and bartenders were chill. I would like to come back here to give it another shot because I’m curious about their food, but will most likely do that when they’re doing happy hour.

Ginormous place but actually really cool inside, not really my crowd and it was packed, but the bartenders were really good and nice.

Everything about this place is just alright. The coconut drink, the 1 pool table, the crowd. It gets super packed on a Saturday night, so plan to push drunk beezys on your way to the bathroom. If there is a saving grace, they have 4 private bathrooms so there isn’t a long line for that.

I went there for the reviews, not the drunken coconut. The crowd was a mix of young professionals and a some East Village natives … few college students to be seen. The bar moved at a moderate pace but the pours were stiff. The highlight was the bar food — truly top notch, specifically the wings, the poppers, the fries and the sliders. I will be back … gotta use these d@mn wooden nickels I «earned».

In a neighborhood full of college students jumping up and down until everyone in the room gets dizzy and shares their lunch, Kingston Hall is a welcome throwback to quiet maturity. It is a place to drink. Where you go from there is your business. Don’t expect them to add anything to your life. However, the sauce for the fries is exceptional. The beef patties, not so much. Bring your own friends.

A friend of mine took me &&* my boyfriend here. He is definitely a celebrity out here lol. But wen I walked in i got a cool vibe. The music isnt personally my favorite but it was still good. Its also kinda cold in here which i love because I hate being hot. The drunken coconut is the best drink ever. I had 3 of em. Its in a fresh coconut &* its more alcohol at the bottom of the glass. So its like i had 6 drinks lmao. My boyfriend was the birthday boy so he got a drink on the house. Huge glass of whiskey &* ginger. Also did rounds of shots. I would definitely come back. Jason is the best bartender ever :)

Chill, «secret» spot that my friends and I love to go to. Upstairs from the rowdy 13th Step, which makes it a nice retreat from the barely 21-year olds drinking downstairs. There is a pool table and a few small tables to sit at. Quiet, dark and good spot for intimate drinks. The bartenders are super friendly. I see it as a smaller, local spot that is always great for late night drinks!

Very unique interior. I felt like I just entered a bar in a jungle. The ceiling fan was so old school. I wish I took a picture for you guys. In the back they have a pool table area. Which is cool. They had a crowd of people watching a couple play against each other. Thought that was a nice touch. Bartender was extremely nice which is a rare breed in NYC. Packed. High energy. Great music. Overall I like it. I would definitely be back for a couple drinks with a small group of friends.

Happy hour deal until 8 is the bomb. I Got two well vodka drink for $ 10 out the door including tip. Its dark and wood paneled in there, i liked it. It was less crowded after the explosion happened but all of us in there enjoyed ourselves. Food smelled so good and they have drinks served in coconuts. If you get there at the right time they have an elevated platform with bar stools so you can drink Your draft beer and people watch on second ave. Never thought to come in here before but definitely one of the better options in east village

Great place to go on a date or with a group! I came here with 4 other girlfriends for some cocktails and we were not disappointed. Since its so freakin cold, I got the hot cider cocktail with rum. DELICIOUS, and came in a huge glass! There was a cinnamon stick in it too which gave some tasty extra flavor. I tried my friends frozen dark and stormy(which comes in a coconut) and that was very strong and delicious! The atmosphere of the place is very cool, there is a fire place when you first walk in, which was cozy for the cold night. There is a back tiki room too which is fun, going along with the Jamaica theme(btw the only bottled beer they serve is red stripe, so the theme is definitely carried out well). They have a pool table here and some aggressive guys were hogging it, so my(slightly intoxicated) friend made a comment to the waitress(who loved us btw) and she was like«oh hell no» and went over to ask them to share the table! So sweet of her, thanks a bunch for the great drinks and service, Kingston!
