Came here during Passover for dinner. Was disappointed that such a high end restaurant serves broken pieces of matzah in place of bread. Would have expected something a little more tasty or intricate than something straight from a box. Vegetable soup was tasty though an absurd price at $ 19. Salads were $ 27 so we passed. I got chicken Marsala with mashed potatoes and spinach. There was 3 times as much potatoes as spinach and they were strangely sweet. Chicken was ok… got a little filmy, but that’s to be expected when you coat with potato starch. My husband got the reserve cut steak which was cooked perfectly and absolutely mouthwatering. It came with field greens and half a tomato. It was so delicious that the $ 72 price tag didn’t bother us. I gave the restaurant 4 stars because we had good service and the food was delicious. But it definitely was not worth the price in my opinion so only go if you have the money to spend!

DON’T GO, 0 stars. My second disappointing time there. Don’t waste your money(since its always been over priced). ESPECIALLY if you’re a party of 2+. Do not let them seat you upstairs! You will be forgotten about. Even if you are strictly kosher there are MUCH better places in the city. I have a feeling this place will probably shut down soon.

Would definitely not come again. This place is a big disappointment… Came with 13 people for a birthday party at 9:30 pm. Did not receive the food till 12 am sharp. Which was ridiculous the food was burnt and very gross seems like they forgot about us since we were on the 3rd floor. Anyways so we decided to order dessert which they said would take 10 minutes for the lava cake. Ended up being that it came 25 minutes later… And was very bitter. Not sweet at all. Then comes the bill which was 250 per couple… Okay… Some paid in credit card. But their machine was«not working» ended up getting charged 3 times when we left. Even tho we all ended up paying cash since the cc machine was not working. To sum the night we were all disappointed and very unhappy. And we only left the restaurant at 1:15… Never did I spend so much time at a restaurant. We weren’t even able to go to a different place after we were all just exhausted and extremely disappointed, basically ruined the party.

Had my first kosher steak dinner ever for my birthday! This was so perfect! The lamb chops were cooked to perfection, the were meaty, juicy and delicious! The steaks were delicious and juicy as well. The ambience is so romantic and the décor and chandeliers are beautiful! I cannot wait to go back for more!

Décor is nice but dated. I don’t think this place has been open that long, but the business must have traded hands several times, was likely decorated in the 90’s. App plate had four choices: — sausages, blah — some chicken dumpling, had been frozen, tasted old, chicken was not fresh, and middle was still cold! — sweet breads, ok — some sorta meat egg rolls, they also were frozen and still cold in the middle. Also had weird taste, can’t put my finger on what it was, like they used some sorta household product to make em(Heinz ketchup or Ortega). Arugula salad was probably the best thing we had, even that was kinda blah. Sandwich described on menu as ‘pulled short rib’ was not pulled, was sliced, and was certainly not short rib. Was surprisingly moist, may have been a first cut brisket. Steak came with shoestring fries out of bag from freezer, bought. Was called ‘prime’, was not a prime piece if meat. Gravy was nasty, tasted like he took the juice from the bottom of the braising pan after making fried onions, dumped in some wine. Everything(app, sandwich, steak) came garnished with crispy onions that were stale and cold. Tiramisu was ok, but brought in, not made in house. Apple cobbler type dessert was inedible. Service was not too great, felt ignored at some points. That old guy(I read about him in other reviews) needs to be fired. I had never heard of this place before today. I think it has to be because this place is unremarkable in any way, anyone who has eaten here, even those with good reviews, has no motivation to tell their friends about this place. Not good or bad, just: blah. The whole experience was blah. Parting note: The worst part, by far, was the pricing. When you go to a place and the prices are outrageous, you want to believe that the owner is just a regular guy, trying to cover his costs and eek out a living. Hell, rent in the city is high, labor, insurance, etc, its really a tough business to be in! Here, you got the feeling that this guy can’t ever fill that restaurant to capacity cuz of the quality of the food and service; and instead of improving(he may not know how), he has instead pushed prices to those levels to make up the difference.

We started off with assorted sushi platters for the table, which were part of the Chef’s selection. Every piece was better than the last. Seriously, some of the best sushi I have tasted! The next course was a Grilled Brochette Salad which consisted of romaine hearts, asparagus, hearts of palm, roma tomatoes and lemon vinaigrette. It was pretty damn amazing… Read the full article on our Kosher blog:

They asked me how i wanted my steak done. I said well done. They told me the chef doesnt take requests for«well done». why did they bother to ask? I think it would take talent to cook a steak well done and still be juicy. They beg to differ. Staying with this point, i’m sorry that it hurts the chefs feelings, but who is paying who here? And it was an $ 80 steak! If i want that thing cooked on the back of a car radiator, make it happen! Just saying, i can go to chilis and get a well cooked steak… whats problem here people?

The only reason for the 2 stars is due to the service. We were a party of 3 and all of us agreed the food was good and my steak au poivre was cooked perfectly and delicious. The service left a lot to be desired. Everything started off great but after clearing our plates we were completely ignored. No one asked how our meal was, if we wanted coffee or dessert. After ½ hour we were able to summon the maître d’ and asked him to just bring us the check so we could get out of there. We will not go back since the service was inexcusable.

I was invited to some kind of sponsored from work so ended up going here. This place seems to be one of the better kosher highend place. They have a good portion of seats downstairs, and uses upstairs for group dinner. They started with some rolls, which were not bad even though I usually don’t believe in Japanese stuff(sushi/roll) at a steakhouse. There were two choices for appetizer and entrée, and I had salad and filet mignon, which were not bad. Dessert was also assorted ones of variety. Service I thought was adequate even though they had a hard time serving our group because we had way more people than the number we actually made reservation for. Overall, it is not a bad place in Murray Hill area, but unless you observe the kosher food, there are better options around the area.

Came last night with 6 friends. There are corking fees for bringing your own alcohol, which is standard. We brought 2 bottles, 1 Glenlivit 12 and 1 Macallan 12. Rabbi inspected it, approved. We open the Macallan first and pour the drinks. Right before we begin drinking, the rabbi comes back and says the Macallan is not accepted and as a courtesy, they’ll only charge us half of the corking fee on the bottle(25 $ instead of $ 50), as if they did us a favor. We ordered 2 la brochette samplers and 2 of the tapas from the appetizer menu. Both were nothing special and half of us didn’t even go for a second bite. One of their sauces with the tapas, some sort of aoli, looked like toothpaste. Then there’s the main. Got the special, 14 oz «24 day aged» steak. Steak did not taste aged, it was very fatty, about 1⁄3 was fat, and it was small for 79 $. The service was good. None of us were pleased. We will not be coming back.

Ate here several times — pricey but elegant. The food is decent but not sure worth the price. During dinner service I found it to be too crowded making it difficult tot have an intimate conversation.

Tried to call and make reservation Saturday night, answering machine stated restaurant is open 1 hour after sunset. A simple courtesy message that restaurant is closed for the holidays would be much appreciated.

Came here for a kosher lunch. I haven’t been to other kosher restaurants, so I’m just comparing this to other steak houses in the area. The food is expensive and mediocre. The appetizer sampler is a good way to try a little bit of everything. We found the food incredibly greasy and mostly fried. I was underwhelmed by my veal chop, though the portion was decent. Okay décor, and good service(not particularly friendly, but not bad in any way).

An observant friend suggested the restaurant for us to meet. Monday August 3. I brought along an observant partner. I would have ordered steak but I had dinner plans. I ordered a yellowtail appetizer and a sausage of beef, lamb and veal as an additional appetizer. It was terrific. Also I smelled a steak being served to someone else. It really smelled good. People dis kosher restaurants, assuming the food won’t taste good. This one is good.

Giving this place an extra star because for kosher food, it exceeded the bar. The service was impeccable, and they have a nice menu. The tapas weren’t worth ordering, but the starter was great. I particularly enjoyed the sausage and the spring rolls. They also had some pretty quality sushi and the tuna tartare was nice and light.

In a nutshell, worth every penny. As we all know, kosher food is pricey and La Brochette is no exception. However, this sushi steakhouse is a midtown east gem. It is conveniently located on Lexington Avenue, not too far away from Grand Central Station and many midtown offices. The ambience is dim and quiet, which is nice if you want to have a conversation. Service was attentive, helpful, polite but without being overly effusive. Our waiter provided us with the daily specials and made helpful suggestions. My friend and I each had the grilled watermelon salad. It may sound odd but it was heavenly… The watermelon had the texture of a filet mignon. If I could recreate that myself, I could almost become a vegan, almost. He had an order of edamame and I had the CC roll. The sushi was fresh and it was a delicious. Next, dessert. I had the cheesecake and he had the apple crumble. Both were totally yummy and a great way to end lunch. Overall, La Brochette has a very inventive menu, great service, and provides a lovely setting to enjoy a good meal. I will go back again when I am in the neighborhood and really hope that the watermelon salad is available again!

Me and a couple of friends decided to take our wives out for a very special evening which after 9 – 10 years is only getting harder We were really lucky to find this place where everything just went perfectly we came in and this place seemed more then 50% full they sat us down and before they started serving us I realize that at the back there was a special room which I’d like to call the VIP room, so naturally we decided to approach the manager who’s name escapes me but she was very nice and made that arrangement possible she even overlooked everything so things went perfectly for us Juan was our waiter and I have to say he was very patient and on point most importantly made sure to ask us all the detail about how we like our sushi, meats, salads & wine and was very professional I would totally recommend this to almost everyone who loves to eat very good quality food and doesn’t mind paying extra for special treatment great service and excellent food !

Typically, an empty restaurant is a red flag for me when I enter it. We showed up on a particularly rainy night around 9PM and there were only about 2 or 3 tables filled, but we were hungry and willing to give it a try. The food was absolutely delicious. From the salads/soups to the steak, everything was quick and yummy.

Came for lunch. Food wasn’t great. Servers were nice though. Split pea soup(this was the soup of the day) — tasted meh. I didn’t finish it. Chicken soup — I didn’t taste this but other people at the table enjoyed it, though nothing amazing about it. La Brochette two way — 2 beef and 2 chicken kebabs on a bed of fries. Very dry. Not much taste to it.

Interesting kosher restaurant with amazing sushi. We were invited to review the opening of the restaurant and enjoyed a full spread. Appetizer: Salad or Soup — I had the French onion soup without cheese, it was just okay. Starter: Sushi — the amazing roll had fish prepared in several ways, great textures, taste and presentation Main: Sea Bass — Cooked really well but could have used a pitch more flavoring Dessert: Tiramisu — Meh Good place for your kosher friends and I would come back just for the sushi only.
