Monday night, no corkage fees so you can bring your own bottle of wine. Came with a group — service was good, food was very good. about half of the pastas are homemade(the others are DeCecco — my favorite) and pizzas are wood fired. Really good, would definitely come back.

Food and service were very good. Interesting selection of pizzas which was enough to share for 2 people alon with an appetizer. Wine list is lengthy and provides a good mix of attractively piriced bottles and high-quality. Surprised to see this place was empty on a Friday night!

I have lived in New York almost 5 years now and I consider myself to be a foodie… with that being said, The Napoli style pizza is made to perfection. It has the perfect balance. The prices are reasonable and the staff are very friendly but not over the top(which I like). The place is cozy and should be busier considering the quality of food. Also, they have ½ and full portions of fresh pasta. The pasta was also exquisite.

Maybe there’s more to this place than what I experienced but I went there for first time today for lunch. I was not in the mood for pizza so I ordered ½ portion of linguini vongole. I understand it should be smaller than dinner portion but it was literally 2 spoonfuls! For $ 13 it was not worth it, plus I waited 30 min. It was just me and a second table. No good!

Ordered the veal, they were out. Ordered the pesto, they were out, ordered the rissoto, they were out, ordered the ravioli, they were out. The food came out not hot, one pizza was wrong and the hostess just kept saying«okay» rather than apologizing for any of if. Horrible experience.

Went here for lunch expecting true Neapolitan pizza, for which I believe they are certified. The topping for our Margheritas was fine; however, the crust was disappointing: a bit too chewy. Service, on the other hand, was excellent.

As good as it gets !!! Drop whatever you are doing and RUN to this Restaurant !!! Absolutely the BEST Italian food and brick over Pizza in NYC and maybe the USA ??? A hidden gem, on a side Street, unassuming, lovely, romantic, nice lighting, great wine list, good service. The Bread was so fresh and delicious it was addicting, the Pizza incredible, done just right like in Italy —(better than Keste on Bleeker St.). The Mozzarella di Bufala con Prosciutto was to DIEFOR — melted in my mouth, the Pollo Capricciosa was soooooo delicious– cooked to perfection, my friends’ Pasta with eggplant was outstanding !!! can’t say enough, just go ! i only got a pic of the wine, the food disappeared too fast for a photo opp. :)

Regrettably this is my first Unilocal review. I used to come to here about once a month when I lived near Union square — pizza was top notch & pasta as well. Came back tonight about a year and a half later and was served mediocre pizza and underwhelming pasta. I used to be the biggest advocate of this place & was a consistent takeaway customer — but never again. I don’t know if it’s changed management or just a substantial downgrade in quality but please spend your money elsewhere. — a disappointed former customer

Such a great pizza and wine place. I send people here because of the wine list, but always recommend the pizza and pasta. The pasta may even be better than the wood-burning oven pizza. Certainly the most authentic pizza in the City and amazing. Truly incredible wine list. It rivals the best lists in the City and none compete with Italian wines — either selection or price.

Excellent pizza — authentic Neapolitan made from fresh ingredients. Just as good as Ovest Pizzoteca. This place has an incredible wine list — you have to see it to believe it. I stumbled on this place by chance… But I am glad I did!

My husband and I are Neopolitan pizza freaks. We have a wood burning over in our backyard; I’ve attended dough making classes from VPN. We spent a week in Naples last summer and ate a ton of pizza at all the famous spots. Whenever we go to a city in the US we search out Neopolitan /VPN pizzerias. That’s how we discovered La Pizza Fresca. We tried many other Neopolitan pizzerias in NYC but this remains our fav by far. The dough is perfect and the cook on the pizza is excellent. I travel to NYC for work about once a month. I eat at La Pizza Fresca each time. I’ve never tried the rest of the menu items because I just crave the pizza! We can’t get the same hear in San Diego! Not even at home, yet! Service is excellent! Enrico is superb! They have an amazing wine list at a wide spectrum of price points both by the bottle and by the glass.

Loved our waiter! He recco’d a good pizza– think it was called savoia? Just very cheesy obviously from the fontina. We also got the margharita, which had no flavor for me but I did notice the tomatoes they use for the sauce are very fresh. This is the first place that I enjoyed dessert over entrée(normally a savory eater) — tiramisu was great! I’m a little hard to please when it comes to neopizza since I’ve had some amazing ones in my life, so my expectation was not met here.

This restaurant is completely under the radar, which might be because of the powerhouse restaurants nearby(Gramercy Tavern, ABC Kitchen). The food is awesome — pizzas are big but very good and the pastas are great as well. My only issue is that there aren’t many wines by the glass. It’s not an ultra-trendy spot, but it’s a good place for a quiet meal, especially since you can almost always get a table.

We’ve been several times. It’s a step above a standard neighborhood Italian place, but does it without pretension. It’s a place where you are really torn between your old favorites, because you know they will deliver more than you expect, and trying something new because you know it will be worth it.

I love pizza. The other day, I had a very specific craving for Neapolitan style pizza. That means simple with a good chew, char and taste to the dough; just the right amount of Italian tomats, no more; and fresh mozzarella. Maybe a couple choice toppings. After many years, I decided to try La Pizza Fresca again near Union Square. I remembered it as amazing back when their certificate of authenticity from an Italian Assoc. of Napoletana Pizza made it seem so exotic. There’s been an explosion of Neapolitan pizza purveyors since but this place was here before then. My personal salame picante pizza for lunch was fantastic. I ate the whole thing. My waitress was at the ready with a warm smile. It was a bonus that the restaurant feels just like one might imagine a rustic trattoria to be if we were in Italy.

The pizza is great, the wine list is long with many reasonably priced bottles and the staff is very friendly. A couple reviews have complained about slow service when the staff is actually allowing you time to have conversation and enjoy your meal rather than flipping the table quickly. Slow down, enjoy your food and chew properly. This is our local place and we are very fortunate to have it. Try the boar ragu for a change of pace. Oh and one last thing, they will always try and accommodate a walk in without giving you a perplexed look that you didn’t reserve 6 months in advance.

This is a neighborhood gem. It’s a quaint, simple little Italian restaurant on a quiet street. It’s casual which is a change of pace from the usual scenes in this area. Don’t get me wrong, there are days I want to dress up and some days I just want to chill. The Neopolitan pizzas are all fresh and delicious. I love the flavor added from the wood burning ovens. Their pastas are all solid, my favorites are the linguine with baby clams and zucchini or gnocchi with asparagus and morels. Service is always warm and friendly and the prices are very reasonable compared to the price range in this area!

Like the other reviews said, the service was rather slow here. The food was good, nothing standout though. The Bianca pizza was a bit oily.

No box went unchecked during or after my lovely dinner at Pizza Fresca — except for Price Tag. If you have the appetite for expensive wine and antipasti, this restaurant has everything else going for it to guarantee a great experience. I was immediately taken aback by the tremendous wine list our waiter offered us once we sat down. For quite an unassuming place, it seemed to be of a different league. Then I noticed the understated Wine Spectator awards throughout the bar area and realized these guys play hardball. I settled on a bottle of young Barbaresco — delightful. Dinner over that bottle of wine was good through and through; first a plate of mozzarella di bufala with prosciutto and basil, then a beet and goat cheese salad, and finally a mushroom pizza baked in the brick over to crispy perfection. You can’t go wrong with a pizza like that. Definitely give it a try!
