great brunch with unlimited mimosa special. I loved the nutella flambee for dessert. Such a great place to choose for brunch with the girls!

This is a tiny place on Second Avenue. The décor is a little dark and the experience a little grey. There is really 1 person doing the service so it took a some time for us to get our food. The food was nothing special but not bad either. We ate, we left and we didn’t think much about it after. I would be surprise if we go back. May it was just not for us.

This place is great! I went here with my family and the waiter was nice, knowledgeable, and attentive. He was wonderful at explaining the different menu options. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I will definitely be back!

Love this place. Even though I go all the time, it takes me awhile to find it because it’s shoved in a tight nook. The outdoor seating in the summer is lovely, but this spot is cozy for any winter night. Perfect for a casual date or a catch up with friends. My friend from Paris said it reminded her of France; everything right down to the salad was vey reminiscent of home for her. The only complaint I will lodge is that the atmosphere is very tight and the lighting can be hard for the eyes — especially if you’re not familiar with the menu. The menu itself is fair in terms of options, but much of the same(i.e. You go here, you should order a flambee.)

A+ spot. The waiter was super helpful in explaining the menu. He was knowledgable without being condescending. The food was seriously good. The ambiance was pleasant, the music wasn’t too loud nor awkwardly soft. Think ‘La Tarte Flambee’ for your next date. Great place to fall in love.

Came here for brunch with a new friend. The service was tacky and awful. For french food, the atmosphere was very dank and informal. The flambé was sub par. Worst of all, the waiter had the nerve to complain about the tip he received for lack luster service. He literally came up to our table and asked us why we tipped what we did. So tacky! And uncomfortable! And confrontational! I will NEVER be back to this restaurant!

La Tarte Flambee is an extremely authentic take on traditional flambee’s. We tried the gratinee and the munster. I’m not that big of a munster cheese fan so that wasn’t my favorite. The Gratinee was amazing though, I highly recommend adding the spicy sauce, it does have a really great flavor and a bit of a kick to it on the back end. Definitely try the crème brûlée, it’s one of the best one’s I’ve had to date.

I have to admit, I was very pleasantly surprised how much I liked this place. I found this place from doing a Unilocal search since a friend lives on the UES. I am a sucker for French food and we were looking for brunch so this was a win/win. The restaurant itself is intimate and rustic, it’s not really fancy so it’s very relaxed and comfortable, it is on the small side. The owner is a young guy named Mathias Peter and to me, he reminds me of the New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist. In terms of the food, everything was really flavorful and didn’t feel heavy, I didn’t get that greasy feeling you sometimes get when you eat French food. The food: Forestiere Tartes Flambees– Crème fraîche, bacon, onions with sauteed wild mushrooms. A tarte flambee is an Alsatian flat bread. This is the namesake dish and this was my first time having it and I really enjoyed it. It kinda has a brick oven pizza feel but without the cheese and tomato sauce. I thought the flavors were great, the crème fraîche added a nice tang, the mushroom, bacon, and onion automatically had a great flavor profile, my only criticism would be the dough, for me it could of been more crisp. The dough was kinda soft throughout and some crunch would have made it superb. Leeks Benedict– Grumbeerekeuchle Benedict with poached egg and hollandaise sauce. This is probably the most interesting Benedict I ever had. Instead of using English muffins, they actually use a potato pancake, aka Latkes, as the muffin. The leek added a wonderful onion note and were cooked well, they also had a little bite to them which was nice, texturally. The poached egg was perfection. The egg was so perfectly runny, yet the whites were nicely firm. I do wish the pancake itself was more seasoned, but overall a really good dish. Almond Croissant– I was really happy with the croissant, the flakiness and the chew of the dough was nice. The almond inside had nice flavor and wasn’t too sweet, I enjoyed the croissant but I thought $ 4.50 was a tad pricey.

DAINTY. I would suggest to order each tarte one at the time(when cold you lost most of the original amazing taste). My favorite is the forestiere(the one with mushrooms). Attentive service in a small, cozy place.

I had brunch here recently and will preface my review with saying it is more about the ambiance and options that the actual food(i typically dislike reviews like this so i apologize in advance). it’s a tiny spot and when we were there a table with 4 kids basically took over the entire restaurant. we werent even right next to them but could barely hear ourselves speak, or think for that matter. i asked for a diet coke to start — no dice. then asked for an iced coffee — also no dice. finally settled on a coffee which would have been better if the heat coming through the wall didnt have me in a sweat by the time it came(i guess overcompensating for the freezing temps outside). i had a few bites of the traditionalle which was tasty enough. but i dont think given everything else that i would venture back here another time.

First time here because of Unilocal, they could of never been more right. Looking for a spot that is different then most places this was definitely the right pick. I came here with my family on a Saturday brunch and I couldn’t ask for more. The moment we walked in to the final steps out, I felt more comfortable than in my own living room. The waiter explained the menu and the specialty of the tarte flambée and iv been hooked on the tradition ever since(share every tarte with your table!). The music and ambiance of the place is an overall 4stars in my opinion with reggae playing in the background(it alright) Since Saturday Iv recommended this new way of dining to my family and classmates which all seem excited to try it out for themselves. Maybe I’m overreacting but I believe the tarte flambée from Alsace is a must try.

La Tarte Flambee is a good option, if you’re looking for a light lunch or brunch in the UES. Our server grew up in France and the petit restaurant has a comfortable, Alsatian décor, so this place is definitely legitimate! I ordered the Traditionelle, which is a large, rectangular piece of super thin, crispy dough topped with crème fraîche, white onions, and crispy lardons. I also ordered a mixed greens salad, which came with a light, tangy vinaigrette. Both dishes were tasty. La Tarte Flambee is unique, well-executed concept, but it would not be my first or second choice for brunch in the UES.

This is the first time that Unilocal has been really off for me. I was extremely disappointed at the quality and service. To be fair, the owner came a couple of times and took some items of the bill, it was very clear that something was off that day. We had to wait for a long while to get our food, and the potato pancakes were just horrible: bland, uncooked and thick like a patty(aren’t they supposed to be thin and crispy?). Not only that, but they didn’t come with apple sauce, which is a must. When I asked for the sauce the owner came and apologized(again) and told us that they need to go to CVS to get some apple sauce because they are out!(haha) I can’t believe this restaurant has such great reviews, I believe that we were extremely unlucky, but it also makes me wonder about the consistency of the place. Disappointing

I think I found my new neighborhood haunt. Blown away from the smokey and crispy crusts here, as well as the simple toppings like greyere and bacon. Places like this, spotlighting unique regional cuisine, make NYC shine. And the prices are just right, especially considering the generous portions. In the words of Arnold, I’ll be back!

Food: 4.5 Stars Service: 4.5 Stars Came here with the girlfriend for brunch/lunch on a Saturday and was delightfully surprised. I’ve never had tarte flambee so this was an absolutely new experience. First impressions, the waiter was extremely helpful with explaining what the restaurant is about and how to order. I went for the Munster Flambee which in a simplified definition is a delicious extremely thin crust pizza. It comes out a wooden board straight from the oven and it is so heavenly. Mine came with bacon, onions, and tons of cheese. I think there was also a dabble of honey or sugar that blended so well with the savory aspects of the dish. My girlfriend got the Provencale which is one of their veggie flambees and it was also really delicious. For dessert, we ordered a Fruit Flambee with nutella sauce which was so decadent. For the price, it’s a pretty decent value. We will be back after such a wonderful experience!

Went here once for dinner. The waiter was fantastic in explaining what the flambé experience is and his recommendations. The flambes are all excellent and we tried a bunch of them(all without bacon)! Just keep in mind that the flambes are not very filling so you have to order a lot of them. Next time I go, I will go for a late snack instead. 4⁄5 stars because the restaurant gets very crowded and the tables are close together. Hopefully they will expand soon!

I stopped by here for a quick dessert fix. Reason? I think I just watched the crème fraîche episode in South Park. Anyways. The tarte flambée reminded me a lot pizza. But a french pizza. And sweet. I ordered the la tarte sucrées des fruits. Overall, it wasn’t too sweet or or filling. Maybe the savory tartes taste better.

On the menu they list two types of tarte flambée: with bacon, and without bacon. This is the kind of binary system the world should be divided into. (To be clear, a tarte flambée is not a tart. It is more of a flatbread pizza/crêpe hybrid, with a crème fraîche base rather than a tomato sauce.) Since we could easily eliminate half of the options, we quickly narrowed it down to the Biquette: Crème Fraiche, Bacon, Onions, goat cheese and a touch of honey. Did you just read that list of ingredients? Of course it was good. It was better than good. Other things that are good: The service. These people are on point, and so nice. The bottomless brunch deal. The Benedicts they serve at brunch atop potato pancakes, or grumbeerekeuchle for short.* Things that are not good: Me trying to pronounce grumbeerekeuchle. The Mets. ______________ *Just kidding, that’s not short.

This is definitely a very interesting and different kind of French cuisine. Basically simplest way I could describe it is a French version of pizza. Crudely described of course. Definitely a great place, with various Flambees to try. If your’re in the area and craving something«different», yet tasty AND filling — definitely try this place out.

Mein 1.
