Been here two times now because two different friends of mine recommended it for lunch and brunch. Both times were great. I really enjoy the artsy and interesting décor, and from the top floor you get a great view of the GW bridge! As for the food, I think the options are decent, mostly egg dishes and then the standard pancakes, French toast, etc. this past time I went with the eggs florentine, a Benedict that comes with spinach and potatoes on the side. Everything was flavored well and cooked pretty well. Would have liked to see a small side salad but it was still a filling entrée. The really great reason to come here for a weekend brunch is the great drink deal! For only 2 extra dollars with your main meal you can get a mimosa! This is only applicable to the first drink though. I would definitely come back here to try some of their specials, which I assume rotate regularly.

I always recommend this place for both brunch and dinner. The food is consistent and delicious and the wait staff is very friendly. I’ve been going to the restaurant for the better part of three and I’ve only had one meal that was not as good as usual. Still edible and not half bad. I will continue to patronize.

A gem. My favorite bar in Washington Heights! I will be bringing all my friends here whenever the come. Le Cheile, I feel, is really three different establishments. They have the bar sectioned off from the first level dining area. They also have a good-sized upstairs that theyve turned into a gallery of art drawn by their guests. Oh! Have you heard? They have crayons and paper covering your table. You can draw with your kids. You can write haikus with your date. You can play tic-tac-toe by yourself, if you want. I’ve been there on Mondays for their 25-cent wings(bar only). With a beer(please try their house draft!), my meal came out to less than $ 10. The Fish&Chips are perfectly flaky. Great vibe. Great people. A little divey in the bar area — but just that right amount. By the way, you can’t beat the view of the GW bridge just outside the door. Come! Bring your friends! Cheers!

I like this place so much! The food is quite good, but the ambient is great, the space its huge, it’s a great place to crush with friends and the kitchen is open til midnight. The service is really good, they always treat us so kindly. It’s definitely a great spot in the area!

Service was good, kind of felt like I was visiting my cool bohemian aunt and uncle somewhere. This place might become my new spot in the heights. Food was good bucket of fries is not a bucket its a bowl of fries but they were good either way. I had a chicken parm which had tons of cheese and they modified it and gave me mashed potatoes instead of pasta a plus. I really love the indoors like i said feels like you are sitting in a really cool apartment not bougie or anything just super chill and cozy.

Great place to go if you just want to sit back, drink a beer, and have a nice meal. Had the lamb burger. The BEST. Perfectly cooked, not too salty like other places. I would def recommend. I also like the crayons and paper table sheet they provide each table. It’s pretty unique.

Great little happy hour find! Bright and airy with a Key West vibe. While we can’t speak for the food, as we didn’t order any, everything we saw around us looked and smelled delicious! The bartender was on point with tasty margaritas for just $ 5! Would definitely go back/recommend to friends!

Le Cheile never disappoints. Whether you want to grab a beer at the bar or sit down and have dinner, they’re always on point. The service is fantastic too. Some things can be a little pricey, but for the quantity and quality of everything. I can’t complain. The homemade mozzarella sticks are godly. The ambiance is great. Love the cozy booths on the second floor. Not to mention the crayons! Do. It.

This place is hit or miss. It’s like they have several different head cooks working every week. A few nights ago I ordered a med well mozzarella burger with sautéed mushrooms, sweet potato fries and a slice of apple pie. It was DELICIOUS!!! Burger was perfectly cooked. You could tell the person that cooked it actually enjoys what they do and made an effort. Decided to order again today around 4pm. Exact same order and it was CRAP!!! The burger was over cooked and had an overwhelming burnt flavor to it. That burnt flavor completely ruined the whole burger. My burger was just thrown together, no effort or pride was taken in the over all preparation. Sweet potato fries were still soggy. For $ 25(+ tip) I expect to get better food, this was worse then your basic NYC diner. I keep giving this spot chances but I’m tired of wasting my money. Consistency is important and this place seems to have a cook that doesn’t care, just in it for a pay check. 2 stars cause delivery is always prompt and polite.

Worst bloody Mary I’ve ever had, it was all hot sauce and very little vodka. The brunch food in general is bland and over priced. Service is OK at best

Me and my fiancé loved this place. Last year we came here several times a week. Our main calling was the Caramelized Brussels sprouts. After a few short months of long work hours we finally got a evening away from the kids and decided to take the train ride to Le Chelie for an evening dinner. It was a Saturday night and about 6pm. We got an amazing seat right by the window. I glanced at my artwork on the walls and soaked in the quiet space. Not one other customer was there so we felt this night could not have been better, unfortunately we were wrong. when the waiter came over and he asked us the usually, «What will we be having tonight?» We choose our drink of choice and asked for a order of caramelized Brussels sprouts before our meal. The waiter even ask if we’d like bacon with that and of course we said«yes!’ After about 30 – 35 minutes I started to get antsy, our drinks were almost gone. I began glancing over at the waiter not to be rude and flag him down. I ordered the Rustic Chicken and my Fiancé got the chicken fingers with Fries. The place at this point was still completely dead not one other soul dining with us. After about 5 more mintues another gentlemen(not our server) came over and handed us our meals. Confused my fiancé walked over to the back where the man headed towards and asked about our order of Brussels. At this point the man looks over at a busser and said«What order of brussel sprouts?». Both confused this gentleman walked down to retrieve the server. Might I add my chicken was under cooked, but I didn’t want to ruin our first night out so I ate around it. The server come up a few minutes later and says«We are out of Brussel sprouts» then just turns around walks away. As someone who works in the service industry we both felt insulted that we didn’t at least receive as much as an apology. This server did not walk over to us the rest of our dining experience. He would walk up the stairs to see if we were still eating and walk back down, no drink refills, nothing. At this point this place left a bad taste in our mouths and we just wanted to head home. Once our meals were done he came over and asked if we’d like anything else. We ask for the check and headed out the door. It’s been two months since then and neither of us have any desire to visit Le Cheile again.

Lots of seating options and space, very good American food a friendly tavern-y setting. The grilled cheese with avocado(I think it’s called deluxe grilled cheese on the menu) is so good that sometimes I get sad that I don’t live close enough to get it regularly. Like I daydream about thst sandwich. Drinks are kinda mediocre here, but the food makes up for it.

My go-to spot in the neighborhood! I’m a sucker for their Forever Salad with rare salmon on top. Consistant juicy lip-smacking burgers, and cheap drinks. Try the shrimp & spinach mac and cheese. It will alter your very existence. Amazing view of the bridge, as well.

This place looked better than it actually turned out to be. I don’t know if it has to do that we went on a Sunday or what, but the brunch was not that good. I love to order Egg Benedict for brunch, and this version with turkey was actually tasteful, except for the«home fries» which tasted like reheated leftovers. We also ordered the crêpes, and I have to say that the cream cheese was not a good combination with the berries. It was kind of awkward and would have expected a more sweet cream than this. The service was good, though.

I’ve eaten here a few times and loved it in the past. However I ordered food for pickup a couple of weeks ago and the food was sent out for delivery instead. When we eventually got the food, the Bangers & Mash had no gravy, the Fish & Chips were cold and the Mac & Cheese just tasted like warm tangy cream. Not happy.

This was a great find in Washington Heights. The staff was friendly and the interiors are pleasing. I had the veggie burger with the salad and bloody mary. The bloody was a little watered down but good nonetheless. My friend ordered blueberry pancakes and it took way too long for them to arrive, though. Overall this was a great brunch. Inwood leaking into Washington Heights.

Great gem in WaHeights. How did I end up here? Well, marathon training devoid of loops has a funny way of landing you in random neighborhoods nowhere near where you began. After 10 miles, you don’t want to wait for an hourlong train ride back to wrap mouth around some brunch. The bartender was cooler than I’m used to – sporting a look more«Brooklyn» than Manhattan. It’s advertised as an Irish pub, but it’s got a bit of «gastropub» in its DNA, too. The food is better than it needs to be, as I discovered biting into my chicken/avocado sandwich, and the beer selection is up to snuff. Best of all, it has a neighborhood crowd: muscle-bound bros, old-timers, and young urbanites sharing the space.

I had a great time here which one is meant to do when visiting an Irish pub. The location is great as it feels off the beaten-path but still scenic and majestic overlooking the mighty Hudson and GW Bridge. Bonus points if you take your date to the Lighthouse underneath the bridge afterward and hold her hand lol. Fun deals on wings/beers if you catch them on the right night combined with amicable & attentive if somewhat casual service makes this a great spot to grab some comfort food and throw back some beers. Great beer list including the Irish classics(e.g., Guinness) at reasonable prices for Manhattan make this a highly valuable addition to Washington Heights. I would say it slightly edges out Tryon Public House as best spot in the Inwood/Heights area for a good beer and well done comfort foods. I am biased because their sweet potato fries were off the hook tho: P

This place has a nice bright color throughout, both inside and outside. They always has pretty flowers by the windows, and interior gets much sunlight. They offers good selections of food and drinks, very nice setting for relaxing and chilling time with your family and friends. Food is not amazing, but they are«ok» and service is not that great either. Nice neighborhood hang-out spot. Read my full review of this restaurant and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.

Le Cheile is my favorite bar in New York City — for a few reasons: 1) The feel — it’s tucked away in a corner near the Hudson in Washington Heights, with décor that is unique and hip without trying to hard. It is quiet before 7pm on weekdays, and it is busy without being packed on the weekends. 2) The beers — usually only about 8 beers on tap, but with great selections of local craft brews on rotation, with most priced $ 6 or less for a pint. Can’t beat that. House-brewed irish red ale is pretty good and only $ 4 at times. 3) The specials — the happy hour specials Monday-Friday rotate, with each day having a deal for a different kind of person, but all at excellent value. Example: wednesday is a chicken tender dinner with salad appetizer and a house pint for $ 8 — crazy. Friday is their awesome fries and a house beer for $ 6. Great after work snack to kick off the weekend. 4) Most importantly, the chicken tenders — holy something, these are so good. I am not typically the person to order chicken tenders at a bar or restaurant. I tend to be more adventurous and try to eat the default cuisine of the establishment. I.e. here I would normally be ordering fish & chips, bangers & mash, etc… *However*, I ordered these on a whim one time. The breading is light but substantial, almost similar to Chick-fil-a chicken nuggets in texture, but filling and much more flavorful. The buffalo sauce is A++, and the blue cheese dressing is on point as well. To put things in perspective, while I was living in Washington Heights, the highlight of my week was going to Le Cheile on Wednesday after work to set the world aside and find my inner peace in a few chicken tenders and a couple pints. Thursday morning I would wake up, and spend 6 days wishing it was Wednesday again.

This is a solid choice in the neighborhood for lunch. Stopped here on a whim after a walk through The Cloisters. There was no wait and we enjoyed sitting by the open windows. The mac and cheese with bacon was really good, baked and cheesy. My friend got the wings which were a bit spicy but yummy. The roast chicken was delicious comfort food. The menu had a mix of hearty comfort food, healthy vegetable dishes, and classic bar food. For drinks we enjoyed the seasonal beer on tap. The atmosphere was interesting with plenty of knick knacks on the walls and ceilings. Would like to see what the dinner/night crowd is like here. Service was average, even though it was slow. A little friendlier might have pushed this rating toward 4 stars but overall this is your standard non-chain, neighborhood bar/restaurant.

Really solid option to grab an after work drink or dinner. Tons of seating so you won’t have to wait long. Upstairs there are big windows showcasing the fabulous views of the the GW bridge. The waiters are all excellent, cheeky and friendly. With a big sheets of butcher paper and a jar of crayons on each table, the place is certainly kid(or kid-at-heart) friendly. The menu is pretty vast, but everything my table ordered was solid and well-cooked. A few standouts: The Cobb salad is a great bargain, with a generous portion of perfectly ripe avocado and grilled chicken; the sweet potato fries are fresh and perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside; the burgers are hearty and creative; and the market plates(4 veggies cooked in creative ways for $ 16) are similar to West Side Market’s but available uptown! Haven’t been for brunch yet, but it’s just a matter of time.

I ordered the guacamole with chips, Greek salad with chicken and a few glasses of red house wine. The house wine was not the best house wine I’ve had. But hey! It’s house wine! The Greek salad was amazingggg! And the guacamole came with pick de gallo. It was all very delicious! The staff was also pretty cool. And very attentive and not in an overbearing way. It’s a nice after work spot. Will def be going there again!

Quaint interior, with comfortable seating, spacious enough not to be on top of other patrons. The noise level is perfect — you can have a conversation without shouting. The gazpacho is a must-try, and definitely tastes homemade. The chicken fingers and fries were what I’d rate as normal pub fare, but were satisfying and adequately portioned. My waitress was prompt, accurate, kind, and knowledgable. They have a full bar, and my cocktails were strong and delicious! The restaurant itself is very clean(including the restrooms) and I loved the upstairs dining area, with lots of sunlight coming in through the windows. It was a bit uncomfortably warm upstairs, but the a/c had the downstairs nice and cool. This is the type of place that may not wow you, but will not have you leaving disappointed! It lies within the expectations of a typical Irish pub!

The restaurant gets a 2.5 yet the bar gets a 3.5. Came here on a Friday evening The restaurant and bar have two totally atmospheres, therefore I’ll review them separately. Restaurant: Ambiance: Pretty quiet with colorful decoration; my friends first thought this was a Mexican restaurant. They have two floors of sitting. Service: Our waitress was friendly but when asked why our food was taking so long she said because we all asked for different temperature of our burgers. Only two of us(out of 4) had burgers that required temperature. I think she just forgot about us. Food: We ordered the mozzarella sticks and they were quite yummy. We each ordered a different burger; Turkey, veggie, lamb and organic beef. I had the beef and it was juicy and fresh, yet lacked a little taste. My friend who ordered lamb well done, didn’t finish her burger because it was red in the middle. Fries were soggy. I wouldn’t object to coming back to try other items on the menu, but won’t be bragging about this place either. Bar: Ambiance: Loud and small. Crowd is on the mature side. Didn’t see anyone under 30 there. Service: Bartenders friendly and attentive. Drinks: Pretty cheap. It is a chill bar to go to if in the area.

I’ve been wanting to try out Le Cheile for quite a while, so I finally stopped in for lunch. I ordered the Mac & Cheese with Farmer’s Side(the Caramelized Brussels Sprouts) off of the $ 8 Lunch menu. I wasn’t really expecting to be impressed, but I must say that the Mac & Cheese in particular blew me away — it is hands-down the best mac n’ cheese I’ve had in a restaurant in quite a while: it was nicely portioned and had a great combination of sharp cheeses(can’t tell you which ones — they weren’t listed on the menu either). I actually expected to love the brussels sprouts(they are caramelized with bacon, after all!) but surprisingly didn’t like them as much as I thought: they were a little on the sweet side, which wasn’t a very welcomed surprise(maybe they’re sauteed in some kind of sherry??), as I was expecting/wanting them to be saltier. Overall I really enjoyed my experience at Le Cheile and I look forward to going back and trying more off of the menu(and their brunch offerings in particular).
