Favorite Bar! Can’t beat their Happy Hour and their staff is beyond reproach. Food never disappoints and the ambiance(most times) is perfect.

Cool funky bar. Loud but fun! We were delightfully surprised with the food! For dinner ordered roasted chicken, patty melt and steak frites … All were fantastic! Ordered disco fries first, based on reviews… Nothing special. Service was good. Prices very reasonable. Very casual. Would highly recommend for fun, local pub. Veryimpressed with the food and would return if visiting East Village.

This is one place I feel comfortable being alone at the bar. The poach eggs with avocado on toast is delicious for Brunch. I also had a tasty grilled veggie sandwich for dinner once. They do give you a generous pour of wine for this neighborhood.

A lovely bar located in the heart of the East Village, a few blocks away from Union square. Small but nice and comfy. For drinks no other choice but to be seated at the bar(if you are lucky enough to find a spot). The wine is very good for such a low happy hour price! Still a very nice place to be… the waiters would just have to be a little friendlier and it make of this place the perfect location

We stopped by this place late at night for a quick snack. The kitchen was still open late and the food was tasty. We didn’t order any drinks since we already had a few earlier that night and the waitress did not give us any hard time about it. Overall a very pleasant experience.

My friend and I decided to drop by here and grab a drink while waiting for a few others to show up for dinner next door. They have drink specials all day Sunday and grabbing a seat at the bar at 7pm was no hassle. The bartender here was very laid back. She took our order, gave us our drink and left us to enjoy the game that was playing. The place wasn’t super busy so the noise level was comfortable enough so that you can hold a conversation without having to raise your voice in order to be heard.

I ordered the avocado toast which was decent, very mediocre. I was but disappointed at the taste. I like the one at By Chloe more! It wasn’t as crunchy or rich because it was on a English muffin, I was expecting it to on a square toast. There wasn’t enough spices on the Avo/guac filling. The poach egg was good on it, the yolk didn’t pour out the way I like it. I think the southwest meal was more worth it had Avo, eggs, toast etc. and was 12 $ ill get that next time if I do go back. We went Sunday after church around 12:30pm and there was space for 2 groups of 6 which was good. If you have 6 people or more need 20% tip. They have pineapple juice which was delicious! It’s right next to penning, which apparently is same owner. It’s a good meal nothing that shocked my taste buds. :)

The food was good, although the white meat on the roaster was a little dry. A friend of mine got the steak and it was a little salty. But overall the sides were great! Service was a little slow, but our waitress took great care of us. Cocktails were on point though!

Went here tonight for the first time– great little spot. The fish tacos were incredible. For someone who is a bit sensitive to spice, I would say the sauce had a bite to it. BAE got the burger– same spicy sauce as the tacos but he said it was TDF. No cheese though– eh. Overall, reasonably priced and good crowd. Will definitely come back!

5 stars because disco fries taste as good as it looks and the chicken is something you wouldn’t believe until you’ve tried it. Heard about brunch but came here for dinner instead. The roaster and disco fries seemed popular so we ordered just that. It was popular for good reason. To start, the disco fries were perfect. Fried for a nice crunch while maintaining a moist center, each bite of fries would make you salivate for the next bite when paired with the gravy dipping sauce and cheddar cheese melted on top. I tend to avoid eating fries because crappy fries never seems worth it. But these fries were absolutely worth it! Next came the roaster, which is a half roasted chicken with light sherry wine sauce served with garlic mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes are my all-time favorite food and sadly, this was nothing special. The chicken however was out of this world. The skin had the saltiness of fried chicken yet it tasted a lot healthier. It was crispy but not dry. Underneath, both the dark and white meat was exceptionally moist which is difficult when cooking chicken. Having eaten our fair share of rotisserie chicken, my friend and I concluded this would be considered the best of the best. The sherry wine sauce was rather scarce on my dish. Maybe that’s what they mean by «light». But regardless, the chicken packed more than enough flavor for this to pass off as an exceedingly satisfying meal. I will certainly recommend others to come because I will definitely be back! Walked in on at 7pm on a Monday night and was seated immediately because it was only moderately filled. This establishment was half made up of tables and half empty space for the bar. Awesome atmosphere on a regular night but I would imagine a sports event would making fine dining a nightmare. Service was great!

Really solid standard fare brunch spot. Overall, I think I spent $ 15 with tax + tip for a BLT egg croissant sandwich(ordered mine without the bacon, but the waitress offered to put it on the side for a friend) with a glass of orange juice. Beware: orange juice is not fresh squeezed, probably minute maid. Side of mixed vegetables was great too, although a little greasy. My two friends ordered the southwest omelette and the avocado toasts with iced coffees and both really enjoyed the meal!

Great brunch !!! Had great options for brunch entrees that come with a complimentary glass of mimosa or Bloody Mary. Had the western omelette that came with great home fries and a salad which was only 11 bucks. Would definitely return.

Had my 30th bday here in May and had a great time — the staff was accomodating and we did an open bar option plus a variety of food platters — food came out at the perfect pace and we ordered the perfect amount of food. They set up a «private» area in the back bar area which was nice with tables/chairs for my family and friends to sit at. All in all whether you are going for just a few drinks or thinking about having a party, definitely suggest checking it out!

I went to Linen Hall with a few friends on a Saturday morning, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and drink specials. It was a hot day, and it wasn’t crowded at all, so we were seated immediately outside. For any brunch item, you get a free drink, and the outside area is great for people-watching. I ordered the croissant BLT, which comes with scrambled eggs on top and a side salad. The bacon was perfectly done, and the croissant was HUGE, so it was exactly what I wanted. My friend ordered a fruit bowl, and I feel inclined to comment on it because it actually looked really good and included fresh berries and not your run-of-the-mill melon medley situation. I definitely suggest Linen Hall for brunch if you are in the area and have a decent sized group.

Linen Hall has definitely gotten better through the years. I remembered when it opened it had more of a sleepy feel to it, the crowd was meh, etc. Look, it’s by no means a Penny Farthing next door and I’m glad it isn’t. In my old age of 29(haha), I’ve come to appreciate places like Linen Hall. Why? Well, it’s a chill scene, never too crowded ANDANDAND… happy hour until 8. That’s right. My ideal Friday night these days? Drinking a couple, enjoying some yummy apps and sleeping by 11. That’s what you can get out of Linen Hall. Beer /wine is 5⁄6 bucks during hh and the food is legit. I suggest the beer battered onion rings(sauce is bomb) and the homemade chips and dip. The last time I was there, a lot of couples seemed to be around so could be a good date spot or just a chill Friday /weeknight with friends.

On a rainy Saturday morning, Janice treks through the wet weather into Union Square’s Grey Dog. Unfortunately, there’s about an hour wait for a table and she’s starving. Quickly pulls out her iPhone and gets on the Unilocal App and finds Linen Hall. Treads through more rain and ends up on 3rd Avenue and immediately has made the best decision of the week. Linen Hall brunch is the place you want to eat, post-crazy Friday nights. Coming in, it looked so fancy. It’s January so all the elaborate Christmas decorations are still up. I was certainly expecting crazy prices for brunch, but I trusted in Unilocal. And boy was I right, the brunch is under $ 15 and for that, you get so much. The classic steak and eggs literally includes steak, eggs, toast, salad, and a drink(alcoholic or caffeinated — your pick!). I had ordered the smoked salmon Eggs Benedict — which was the best thing I could have eaten that weekend. The hollandaise was so perfect, the poached egg cooked to perfection, and of course, you can’t go wrong with smoked salmon. There was also a side salad — very tasty with light dressing, and home fries which were nicely seasoned with cooked peppers. Absolutely amazing place for brunch for a good price and good atmosphere. They also have a huge bar and an open space, which seems pretty good for the Union Square night life. I would only take off one star because it seemed like the waitress was a not interested in serving our food, taking our order, etc. She also had a bit of an attitude, but that doesn’t take away from the great experience I had here in terms of the food. It came out quickly and made my rainy Saturday morning much better.

Came here both before AND after a show. Interesting bar, with a little something for everybody — diverse beer selections ranging from basic to craft-y and a pretty decent wine list. Quieter and more welcoming than its sister bar next door, The Penny Farthing, which just seemed too young, loud and rich for us lot of crotchety old NYers. Ordered one round and a side of fries(which were excellent) before our show. The bartender asked for a card«just to start a tab,» and told us we could pay however we wanted. Seconds after we said we didn’t want another round, out came the bill with the card charged, which was a bit awkward given that there were six of us and were planning to split it. But oh well, mistakes happen. Laziness, osmosis, simple lack of creativity… whichever it was, a few of us wound up coming back after the show. I unfortunately forgot the GW Bush mantra«Fool me once, shame on you, fool me… won’t get fooled again,» because again, after specifically clarifying that we didn’t want the card charged, after 2 rounds, the bartender came back with a charged card for my friend to sign when no one had even asked for the bill. Decent place, but I really feel like the ability to determine method of payment of my own volition is an important attribute, and didn’t appreciate their inability to grant us this privilege.

This was a pleasant surprise! Came here by way of Unilocal(thank you by the way). My friend and I really came here for drink and were surprised by the good food. We ordered the The Roaster(Half roasted chicken w/spinach and mashed potatoes) and the Disco Fries. Both of which were — awesome! As for beer, I got the Veltin’s Pilsner. This was quite amazing– light, crisp and a great overall brew. I was very impressed by this place — from the service, the food, the beer tap selection and the general wine/liquor selection as well. Great place to stop by on your night out or even just hang for several drinks/food. The actual bar is pretty big and has an open window — so its a nice place for the spring/summer time. I would definitely come back and hopefully get a spot at the bar — would be interested in the other food options as they all look pretty good.

This place was PERFECT. Penny Farthing is right next door and seemed very spacious, but we definitely won with Linen Hall’s menu. The service was upbeat, friendly and attentive. We arrived around 5:30 and the crowd hadn’t usurped the space yet, so we got a table near the window for prime people-watching. Food was spectacular. I got the herb-roasted half chicken with mashed potatoes and spinach in sherry sauce, also known as the Free Bird Roaster. The chicken and the sauce it was smothered in was succulent, buttery, savory and made you forget your limits instantly. I’ll go as far as to say it’s one of the best chicken dishes I’ve had so far! Prices are decent and drinks are cheap during happy hour. Be sure to pay a visit and try their food! The crowd gets much bigger around 6ish, so grab a table before then if you can. I look forward to coming back! Yes, I know there are a surplus of exclamation points in this review, but they are well deserved ;)
