This company has lots of real estate options which is appealing for temporary renters who need choices. However, but when it comes to communication and professionalism they are severely lacking. This company has an appealing online presence but in real life it’s a different story. The false advertising and poor response time in the other reviews does not surprise me one bit, as those experiences seem to be had by all Literati clients. Not going to beat a dead horse with the anecdotes of my roommates and I. All who choose Literati as their rental provider must know this — be an advocate for yourself. When emails go unanswered, call. When calls go unanswered, text. Make friends with any employee besides Edwin and your concerns just may get answered. I’m fairly certain that there were many violations of renters rights going on during my lease with this company. Honestly, it just seems like this is a family business with very poor leadership and under trained and/or apathetic and/or underpaid employees. My room was a great deal, but I guess I got what I paid for in regards to tenant service. Luckily I had awesome roommates who became friends. We helped each other out way more than anyone in Literati did!

The Literati Group is not a good group to find housing. I was a tenant in one of their apartments for close to a year and so I had a lot of experiencing dealing with the employees of the Literati Group as well as living in their accommodations first hand. Edwin, the owner, acted extremely unprofessionally, was not very helpful to say the least and made my overall experience quite unpleasant. The only employee who stood out is Emilie who is a wonderful person and I enjoyed every interaction I had with her! She was very helpful, acted kindly and professionally, was always responsive to my concerns and acted as though she cared. As for the apartments themselves, they are very small for the monthly rent you will be paying, the locations not necessarily ideal(not to mention you pay a very high premium for being conveniently located next to local train stops) and the maintenance itself of the apartments and living accommodations horrific. Not to mention be careful if you decide to chose to rent from this group not to be placed above a night club as I was. I was not made aware of this before moving in and the noise level was unacceptable(especially during the summer when I had to leave my windows open). There are plenty of other rental services and housing agencies that will help you find an ideal place to live, that rent apartments much larger and conveniently located in all boroughs for much cheaper and whom you will not have to deal with someone like the owner of the Literati Group.
