Fun flavors for the adults like Hennessey, Ciroq Pineapple, Guinness, and Grapenut. Almost $ 7 for two scoops of any flavor in a cup. Good topping options offered like pistachio nuts and shredded coconut. My daughter has already planned her choices for our next visit.

I didn’t know Lollipops even existed until 2010, seeing it from the Bx16 bus. So of course you know my reaction was«OMFGICECREAMOMGYESPLZBUYMESOMENOW» I’ve been once or twice but I finally decided to review it after visiting this past sweltering Friday. Lollipops is not your typical ice cream shop. While there are regular flavors, it’s much more interesting to explore the varied Jamaican flavors. I was a bit of a wuss and tried the lemon raspberry gelato(very refreshing!), but I’m intrigued by the other flavors. Honestly, a lot of them are items I’ve never heard of. I don’t know what sorrel is, what does it taste like? All in all, Lollipops is a cute small shop in an area that is totally devoid of pretty much any retail. It’s mostly residential. Brotip: They open at 4PM most days! I think they open at 2PM on weekends.

Great island flavors rally perk up this unexpected gem. You can get flavors like oats porridge, sour sop, and my fave: Rum and Red bull. Flavors are refreshing for the fruity varieties and creamy for others. The flavors are rich and bold with tastes I grew up loving and know to be top notch. The trouble lies in the inconsistent hours and Lollipops being closed for long stretches of time. That lowers my rating to 4 star and makes it impossible to love this place. I dare you to go during advertised hours two weeks in a row to find them there. Lollipops seems like an afterthought. If the owner ever decides to make this business available for customers, it could go far. 10.7.13 edit– I’ve been to Lollipops countless times over the 3 or so years they’ve been open and I must say that while the gelato is sweet, the staff is decidely sour. Smile, people! Greet your customers! Act like you actually want us to, you know, buy something and keep your shop open.
