I purchased a Groupon and I’m so glad that I did. The servers and the manager were superb. The food was great too! The Groupon was for one appetizer and two entrees with two drinks(wine or draft beer). It also, said they charge for gratuity, but we weren’t charged. Really great deal! My friend and I like to check out different restaurants. Glad that we checked this place out. For appetizer, we ate the Beets, Walnuts & Greens. Very scrumptious! We ate the entire salad in a matter of bites. Wondering where it all went. I loved the beets. The salad tasted very fresh and presentation itself couldn’t be beat. For the entrees we had Zucca Di Pesce, had a lot of seafood. The broth was a bit salty, but that’s the only complaint. The hake, shrimp, lobster, and mussels were a great combination. The other entrée was the Ribeye Steak, I have to admit that I was so full, I took it to go. I did eat some potatoes and ribeye. Both were delicious! I would definitely recommend and come back!

Stopped in for a late afternoon snack and drinks and very glad we did. The cheese assortment was absolutely fresh and offered a very nice selection. The whole restaurant has a warm and neighborhood vibe, and if we still lived in this area of Manhattan, this would be the bar we’d likely be at every night. We are already discussing our next shopping trip to NYC, and agree we must have dinner at LuLu & Me.

Wifey took me out for a birthday date that included basketball and dinner aftwerwards. It was an eary afternoon game so she decided to go with an early dinner afterwards. After we walked over from MSG, we found ourselves at a very quiet Lulu & Me. We were greeted very nicely and were told to not mind their staff running around because they had a party later in the evening. He told us that it didn’t mean that we should rush. He was really nice and made us feel welcomed. For appetizers we went with the ricotta dsh and the shrimp& cod cakes. A+ for both of them. The ricotta dish came with some pieces of bread to scoop up the cheesy goodness. We also had an excellent Cab Sau(it paired better with my meal, sorry to my wife). For our main course she had the sea scallops and loved them, especially the red quinoa. My dish was the skirt steak and it was cooked a perfect medium. We were pretty stuffed(the game included a few beers) so dessert was not going to happen. However, we were treated to a glass of wine by the restaurant(I wish I could remember the type). We were lucky to have the place to our own, but even if we didn’t the food itself stands on its own. It truly felt like a private party for two and the staff could not have been any better. What a wonderful birthday.

Amazing place. We had initially tried a higher rated joint across the way… but it was a little too untz untz untz if you get my drift, and there was a significant wait. We elected to bounce, call the audible on the fly, and Unilocal pointed us here. Had the ricotta apps… great…some prosecco… and the tonnarelli and polpettini. Fantastic. Rounded it off with the chocolate cake, which if I recall correctly, was a molten job. All in all one of the most pleasant meals I’ve had in NYC. The service was exemplary. If you have the means, I highly recommend it.

I found this place on groupon and i love it because it has my friend name. The atmosphere is very intimate i love the mood, the service was not so great but once we got our appetizers we forgot all about it. Amazing food our drinks where delicious and the main entrée was beyond any description. I had a great time with my friends i will def come back, only part was finding parking and the parking that we found around the corner was pretty pricey we paid 29 dollars for 1hr and 40min but it’s the city so it was not that surprising., what i loves the most was the amazing view of the Empire State Building once u walk outside the restaurant was definitely worth the parking fee. Make sure you make your reservations as the place has limited sitting space.

Had about an hour for a party of 5 work lunch. Prices are reasonable, and the menu is just touching on inspired. We split beef skewers as an appetizer, and while the flavor was good the beef was blue rare. Entrees were a bit slow to the table and plate clearing was an after thought. Everything was hot, and well cooked and a decent portion. I had the Eggplant Mozz Basil sandwich which was tasty, if a bit bland. The«basil» looked more like baby greens(they actually were baby greens). Empty plates sat for quite some time and splitting the check was a no-no. Will definitely order again but I’d skip the service and order to-go. Total time: 1:35

Went here for the 2nd time, but actually ate this time around. My coworker /«friend» swears by this place. The first time I came it was at the end of her birthday dinner so I did not get to eat, but I had a drink and I remember it being good. This time I around I was able to try the food which was amazing. There were several starters on the table when I arrived since I was late.again. Starters wear already on the table such as the ricotta and polpettine(cheese platter with bread and meatballs). The cheese with the rosemary foccacia bread is delicious and so is are the meatballs which prompted me to order the polpettine sandwich as my entrée. It was the fantastic meatballs with sauce on foccacia bread with fries. It was delicious. My coworker/friend got the insalata lulu and the skirt steak as her entrée. Her meal looked delicious as well as everyone else’s at the table. We also received glasses of Prosecco. The meal and the experience was very pleasant and I will dine there again. Literally, I will most likely return since my coworker/friend swears by it.

So I was drawn to Lulu because that’s what my grandma used to call me. When I arrived, I asked the host about the naming and he was nice enough to give me the whole back story which was quite meaningful! My friend and I had the following: –Shrimp and Cod Cakes –Insalata Lulu –Sea Scallops –Frico The best part of the meal was the quinoa that came with the scallops. It must have been made with chicken broth– it was possibly the best tasting quinoa I have ever had! The Insalata Lulu I was told would come with squash blossoms. Maybe it’s me being ignorant but I was expecting to find something special about this salad. Instead, I couldn’t really find the squash blossoms. Turns out they kind of look like shredded carrots and have no taste. Frico could have been interesting if it came with some kind of spicy aioli but instead it ended up exactly what I thought it would be– fried cheese. Good but nothing I hadn’t tasted before. Cocktails were good-I had the Sicilian Summer which was quite refreshing. While I had an affinity for the name of the restaurant, I’m not sure if I’d come back.

Dropped by this place while looking for a fast place to eat in the flatiron at around 9:30pm. Its dinner menu is pretty pricey, so be prepared to drop about 30 dollars per person. I would say the rib eye salad is a pretty good value – $ 14 dollars for a salad with pretty good cut of ribeye on it. The dressing seemed to be like an Asian sesame. My aunt got the shrimp and lobster summer roll plate. It was pretty good, though not sure if it was $ 28 dollars good. I suppose that is not too bad, as it came with a whole lobster tail…

Cute restaurant and affordable prices. I went here with five coworkers for lunch on a Tuesday. It was not that busy. Burger, Entrée salads and chicken wrapped with prosciutto were all every good. Service was attentive. The waitress mentioned that one dish took extra time before we ordered. She came back often but was not intrusive and had a handle on the menu. My only complaint was that I had a reservation for a party of six and the gentlemen didn’t seem to be ready and just threw two tables together without a care in the world. It was not busy at all so it was not the best first impression but luckily everything else worked out.

Lulu & Me sounds like a small unpretentious restaurant with delightful dishes, small crowds, and prices that’s manageable given its location. I am pleased to report that’s exactly what you would get. Suanne and I dropped in for a 7:30pm Friday dinner. While the bar seats and the outside seats were packed, it left the indoor dining tables completely empty, giving us the opportunity to pick our territory away from people for quiet conversations. As the evening progressed, more people eventually shuffled in, but were all promptly seated, including the 6 girls-night-out squad The menu offers familiar choices. The ribeye, strip steak, salmon, burgers, salads, come with equally predictable sides, which more or less is a good thing. The special of the day was pasta with shrimp, oysters, and scallops. Suanne picked that right away, leaving me the awkward 5 minutes to decide what I wanted… like a girl. For appetizers, we shared the ricotta with tomato sauce. The creamy cheese came with 5 small slices of bread, which wasn’t enough despite us packing generous spoonfuls of ricotta in each bite. Recommended. My salmon(~$ 23) was very well executed and came with lightly buttered spinach. The dish itself looked classy and tasted great. The salmon had a very thin crispy skin and extremely moist meat that cuts perfectly along the grain. I didn’t personally taste Suanne’s pasta, but she gave it a huge thumbs up, which spoke volumes given her reputation as a pickier Unilocaler foodie and a remarkable cook. We shared the chocolate cake for dessert. It was soft, warm, and bittersweet that complemented well with the vanilla gelato it came with. It was on the smaller side, so I kind of regret sharing. The service was excellent. We stayed at least forty minutes after finishing our meal to go down our long list of catch-up and our water glasses were kept full. Overall, the food was great but for the price, I thought it was«fair», not taking into account of the expensive neighborhood that knocked it to a relative 2-yelp-dollar-sign. The biggest draw of Lulu and Me is the chance to experience all of the above in a quieter, no time pressure atmosphere. For a Friday evening in NYC, that itself is a big deal.

The first time I came here, the food was amazing! I had the salmon special and my friend had the polenta. It was delicious and packed with flavor. When a friend suggested we grab a quick dinner, I said we should go to LuLu and Me, after having such a stellar experience before. I ordered the ribeye, medium rare. It came out medium well. I called our server over, and he was apologetic. He took it back and said the chef had cut it in half and said that it was medium rare in the center, even though you could clearly see it was mostly grey. If I hadn’t been starving(hadn’t eaten anything since 7am!) I would have argued for them to fix it more, but after complaining twice and seeing that nothing was clearly going to be done, I ate it. It was tasteless and chewy and I was embarrassed that I had suggested this place. A manager never even came over to check on us. I feel like I wasted $ 50/person and won’t be coming back or suggesting it to anyone else anymore. Disappointed.

LuLu & Me had last minute availability for our large party on a Sat night, but we were a bit surprised to get there at 9pm and see the entire place fairly empty. Food and service were pretty good, but nothing wowed me. It’s a cool Gastropub setting, but the dead atmosphere on a Saturday night was a little puzzling. Drinks: Sazerac — I usually only get this drink at smaller, specialty cocktail lounges/bars. Too much absinthe, too much ice. Ordering it here was a mistake. Apps: My friend enjoyed the beef skewers, but the portion appeared pretty miniscule. Shrimp and cod cakes were decent, nothing great. White bean appetizer was perhaps the most enoyable. Entrée: Sausages(pork and chicken) with tomatoes and mushroom sauce were delicious, maybe my favorite dish here. White shrimp dish was well cooked, but I didn’t care for the risotto accompanying it. I could see myself coming back to chill and have drinks, but not sure about dinner.

If ever there was a spot for dinner and drinks with your best gal friends than LuLu & Me is it. To start off– they take reservations. We took advantage of that option even though we were planning to visit on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived around 6:30, only a few tables were occupied. The restaurant is a good size, and even though we had groups on either side of us I never felt like they were too close. There’s plenty of seating too– high-tops up front, banquet seating for groups of 4+, romantic tables for 2 and of course seats at the bar. Our waitress came over to our table just as we were getting comfortable, served up glasses of ice water and gave us a short list of specials. She popped back over a few times to answer questions and take drink orders, and kept checking in until we were ready. You know how girls get, especially when you haven’t seen your besties in a while, our waitress never pressured us to place our order so we could get outta there. Once food did start coming out our waitress was great about removing dirty plates and making sure our water glasses were full. First to arrive at the table were the cocktails. The Pear + Fig Martini was my choice and oh what a choice it was. Props to the bartender for making such a strong & stellar drink, it was such a good choice for a cold winter night. One of the gals got a Sicilian Summer(cucumber vodka + lemonade) which was so refreshing, perfect for a hot summer night. Drinks were a bit pricy for the hour(happy hour only at the bar, ugh!) but good nonetheless. Next up were the appetizers. Slow Cooked Pork Piadina is the type of item that you try to imitate and make at home and fail miserably at. I have no idea what they do to the pork but when its rolled up in that Italian flatbread it’s taken to a new level. Soo good! And perfect portion for 3. As good as the Piadina was, the ricotta was even better. Baked ricotta with mozzarella, parmigiano, basil and served with sliced rosemary focaccia? There is nothing bad about that combination, nothing! For dinner I selected the Polpettine Sandwich. For $ 14 I got a really nice sized sandwich with a bunch of tender and flavorful meatballs in a sweet tomato sauce on a soft ciabatta roll. Sandwich came with fries that were tossed with tomato salt. I have no idea what ‘tomato salt’ is but I think all french fries everywhere should be tossed in it. If you don’t order a sandwich, make sure you order a side of fries for the table. Another table ordered them and the bowl they got was huge! $ 7 very well spent. Can’t wait for my next visit to LuLu & Me.

3.5 stars — Decided to pick a low key restaurant to brunch with my bridesmaid and a college friend whom we both haven’t seen since college days. I was first to arrive and was seated immediately. There were only two other tables dining in the restaurant — they just recently began serving brunch menu on the weekends which might explain for their slow business during that hour. While my two friends arrived a bit later(one actually 20 mins late), the hostess who also ended up serving us as the waitress was extremely attentive — kept refilling my water(i’m like a hippo), and was never pushy in asking me for any drink/appetizer orders etc. After consulting her about a few items on the menu — we decided to order 2 lobster and shrimp salad rolls, 1 tuna Sicilian sandwich which came with fries or house salad(I opted for salad cuz I’ve been stuffing my face with way too many cupcakes and sweets lately at bridal events — french fries prob not the best idea), and also a glass of Prochetto as one’s brunch cocktail. The food and drink were served shortly after. The Prochetto came in a nice champagne glass and looked/tasted pretty much like one — just with a hint of pink. At first glance, the portion of lobster and shrimp salad roll looked somewhat small but after watching my 2 friends struggled to finish their dish and taking a bite of their leftovers, I realized how filling especially with the amount of creaminess each bite incorporated this dish was. The ratio of lobster/shrimp salad was higher than the bread. And there was literally a half lobster tail sitting on top of the salad and bread. A very satisfying dish! My tuna sandwich however was nothing to write home about. Besides the white bean purée spread on my sandwich which gave it a bit of uniqueness and interesting taste, it was pretty much a plain old tuna sandwich — def not worth $ 13(better to get a whole Subway tuna sandwich instead for $ 5). Left still somewhat hungry :(. Overall, we enjoyed our brunch visit especially with the attentive service but along with the food + price — not enough to convince me to return for future visits. A good try nevertheless.

So terrific in every sense of the word! We had a reservation for four on a Saturday night and immediately upon arriving, we were given the option of sitting towards the front of the restaurant instead of in the midst of what was apparently a huge family function — over 50 people all related to one another. We were thrilled to have that option and it worked out really well. Our server(whose name I believe is Young, but it was a little loud — see above re: large family function — so I may have gotten the name wrong) was absolutely incredible. She was really friendly and took the time to explain the menu when necessary. For instance, I can’t eat spicy food, and she went over certain menu options with me to ensure that I was not accidentally ordering something I would not be able to enjoy. The meatballs are as good as I had hoped they would be! I just wish there were more of them. The four cheese fritters were also quite good, and I would highly recommend that as a shared plate or appetizer. I thoroughly enjoyed the papardelle and sausage plate I had for dinner. And while it did have a tiny bit of a kick, it was the perfect amount of spice for me. My only regret is that I did not try something off of the dessert menu. But, then again, there’s always next time!

On our last night in NYC, I was craving for a simple meal. Why did I think Eataly would be it? That place was a zoo! Walking around the neighborhood near our hotel, we saw a not too busy Lulu & Me. We walked in and immediately felt comfortable with the semi-dimly lit ambiance with tea candles on the dark wooden tables. Plenty of available seats on a Saturday night in Manhattan can mean one of two things: either the food isn’t good or every one else is partying at some trendy spot. I’m happy to report that the food is TASTY and was actually relieved that this isn’t a trendy spot!(A sign I’m getting older?) You should order these well prepared dishes: tagliolini with lobster and scallops in a light lobster sauce; the sea scallops with fregola, fennel, tomato and limonata. Throw in a lemon shrimp salad while you wait for your entrees. No frills, mid priced dining in Flatiron where you can actually have a conversation? Total win.

I thought everything was so good and the wait staff was very attentive. I got the beef skewers — So good The four chees fritters — Yummy Skit Steak — Great flavor but I learned that chefs think medium rare is code for medium… I will commit in the future To answer Nir’s question from earlier the answer is 2005. 2005 is when the default tipping in New York City became 20%. It was kind of big deal but at the end of the day the city council voted and as New Yorkers we must prove that we are better than other people. I believe 15% may still be standard in New Jersey so…

Yum! I really liked everything that we got. We started off with: Beef skewers(SOGOOD!) — it comes in 4, and it’s a tad spicy. I personally love spicy, but it’s not explicitly stated that it has a slight to it. The pork sausage was also really good. It comes in one link. It’s kinda of small to be sharing though :/The polpettini(meatballs — 3 pcs) were great and is definitely a must try. OH! And the rosemary fries with basil mayo? YYUUUUMMMMM!!! For main courses, the Tagliolini(scallops, lobster, and hake in lobster sauce) with fettuccine noodles were awesome. The sauce was creamy, yet light. A bit of an oxymoron, but they made it work! Mussels were amazing. This is the first mussel dish where every mussel was open AND had a mussel in it. My cousin also got mussels and it was the same thing. So the must really sift through the mussels to make sure everything is perfect. Every other time I got mussels, there would be a mussel shut, or an empty shell. OK… maybe the organism got detached from the shell and fell into the broth. NOPE. The skirt steak and ribeye was also very tasty! Grade A beef. Service? Excellent. Friendly, timely, attentive, and helpful. It can’t really get better than that.
