Ma Dukes

Great Food. Great people. I keep coming back again and again. The food is great and they treat you like you are family. I’m from Virginia, so u appreciate that hospitality. The prices are reasonable and I am happy to spread the word about this great restaurant.

I happened upon Ma Dukes by chance today. The other place I intended to visit had too long of a wait and too many people inside. So I took the chance seeing that Ma Dukes was finally open and I didnt want do go home hungry.
I tried their fish platter which consisted of three médium fillets of whiting and allowed for any two sides of my choice. I opted for the mac n cheese and the collard greens. My order took about 10 minutes – at most– to be ready. I took it to go as they dont have the best air circulation, but this could be due to the open concept kitchen and the fact that they are in the process of building an addition in order to serve additional products (empanadas, pastries and some other fare).
Food was hot, tasted fresh, and was quite tasty. However, everything was on the verge of salty… too salty for my palate. I only ate about half of my platter but definitely felt it was worthy of being leftovers for tomorrow. Not bad for a first try. Let’s see what happens when I try them again. Will update.

Mac and cheese was awesome. That iced tea was superb
