Marriage

It’s pretty awesome that more people are able to do it. Hooray for doing it!

Alas the once vaunted institution of yesterday has taking a beating as of late. This lovely thing we call freedom in the west has given people the idea that they might also find perfect love, and that give a second, third or fourth chance it might well be found. I sometimes I wonder if those arranged marriages we hear rumors of from generations gone by, wouldn’t have been better in the end. I mean what grandma doesn’t know us better than we do? Somehow it seems like it takes us decades to even figure out what we like!

Then again it’s fun in the process, so I wouldn’t give away my secular New York singles days for perfect apple pie anytime soon. Then again as they say that day will come and when it does it does.
Now on with the party!

Yesterday’s date was «10−10−10» and the News reported that ten times the number of people got married on this date.
Well, best wishes to all of you!

Now, a dose of reality–
It is best said by Tina Turner,
«What Love Got to Do with it?»; «It» being the marriage.
Love can lead to marriage and is one of the key factor to a happy marriage but you do not need to be married.
You can love someone forever and never be married to that person.
Marriage is a creation of human (we are just creature with large brains) and this can be both gift and a cure because that brain makes it difficult to find a match for marriage. We (humans) are all different mentally and if our views and thinking do not mesh in harmony then problems will start.
So get to know the other person very well in good situations, bad situations and everything else in between.
Marriage is a lot of work and you both must approach it like an important job that you must be held responsible for with very serious consequences.
It is all up to the married couple steering this «Ship call Marriage» together through some treacherous waters.

Additional comments–
If you are already married then best to both of you and I know you will work hard to make it work.
If you are thinking of getting marry be honest and ask yourself if you are responsible enough and mature enough to handle one of the hardest but rewarding jobs there is.
Only commit to marriage if you are planning to dedicate yourself to your partner for life.
If there is any doubt takes a step back and rethink.
Among my circle of friend and coworkers I see too many who do not take their marriage vows seriously and couples divorce for the worse reasons imaginable.
Now that I depressed you all, it only can get better.

A star for every year.
I don’t know what I’ll do after year 5, but hopefully Unilocal will change the rating system to include more stars or at least half stars. I’d add an extra star for the tax break, but NY State and City taxes are expensive. The reduction doesn’t help at all! Can I claim my dog as a dependent?
Thinking about marriage? «Til death do us part,» should you choose this route. Translation: you and your love for your spouse-​to-​be must be greater than what you thought you were ever capable of giving (and forgiving), so much that the only way out is death. If both parties cannot take this seriously, then expect a one star review after the first month of the honeymoon. It’s like Thunderdome– two people enter, but sometimes no one leaves. If you marry to divorce, you have no business here. Sign that prenup just in case ;)
Personal life aside, this will never get five stars until they let all my ‘mo’s march down the aisle. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one…
