I went here for a blowout before my step daughters wedding. Filippo did such a great job it lasted 2 days! He is wonderful! Very friendly and warm environment and I would definitely go back. What do you expect, they’re Italian!

Massimo’s hair cuts are all different and all outstanding. He’s a fixture on Orchard Street, a real charmer and I’m not surprised at all his excellent ratings.

I love Massimo! He’s been my stylist for over ten years, and there’s a very real reason I stick with him — he is amazing and knows your hair better than you do.
If they had half stars, I would give 4.5. The .5 deduction is because he sometimes runs on Italian time, and because occasionally I don’t love the blowout (but I ALWAYS love the cut.)

I’m so glad I stopped into Massimo Salon.
I met Filippo who gave me one of the best cuts I’ve ever had. He paid attention to the style that I walked in with and explained why the cut he was giving me was going to flatter me specifically. He talked me through the types of cuts that could work for my face and made me feel completely at home the whole time.
I left there looking like babe. My hair feels and looks healthy, my bangs are perfect and I feel like I made a new friend out of the whole deal. What’s better than that?

Better than my hairdresser home in Norway! I’m living in NYC for four months, and I desperately needed to do something with my hair. Thank god I was recommended this place by a friend, because it is amazing! Many thanks to Filippo for doing my hair, I felt so fabulous when leaving this salon. Will most definitely visit again!

A bunch of friends, who happen to be really talented, opened a salon and are rocking appointments and walk-​ins and spreading the happy. Whatta greeting when I walked through the door! I feel pretty. And edgy… And confident… And taller, if thats possible… Katie cleaned up the chop job my previous stylist devastated me with. Before, my hair resembled the love-​child of Fred Flintstone and Lou Ferrigno. After… Ahhh…I am trimmed and softened and feminine… Katie, Massimo and Phil, thank you… Best cut I’ve gotten in a really long time.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this salon. Phillip, Phillipo, and Massimo are some of the most attentive and gracious hosts of any business that I have visited in New York. You are made to feel at home immediately upon entering their kingdom. I was offered refreshment: water, seltzer, espresso, perhaps? and a seat at the front so I was able to witness them in action before it was my turn. Such personable and engaging gentlemen are they and what artists! Phillipo colored and cut my hair and I have received literally dozens of compliments. I have always been a DIY girl when it came to coloring hair, but red was a hue that I had never tried, and since I received my tax return, I figured, hey, why not treat myself? It was as good as I expected and more. The color job is excellent and the haircut a winner, as well. The salon was recommended to me by a dear friend and I can’t thank her enough. Reasonable, high quality work. Looking forward to seeing all of them again, as I will definitely be back. Eccezionale!

This place is an absolute gem.
The hair:
I am have very fine hair, and I like it BLONDE. Like nearly platinum. Filippo did an amazing job. It’s very blonde, exactly the color I wanted, and it’s not burned or damaged. Also, I have to mention, his shampoo job can only be described as «loving». That might seem weird, but I promise it’s not. It was so relaxing… best scalp massage I have ever had.
The atmosphere:
Probably the most welcoming salon I have ever been too. This is not a park avenue, clean lines, people wearing blazers kind of place. That said, Massimo and Filippo totally have the talent to work at one of those establishments. The salon is funky, with polaroids of customers on the ceilings. It’s like going to over to your favorite italian friends’ house – they offered me wine, tea, water. I felt like I was being waited on hand and foot by my oldest friends! Nicest people, top-​notch hair, and at a very fair price.
I am a high-​maintenance Texas blonde and I just found my lower east side hair haven! Can’t wait to return.

What a gem! You will not regret getting your hair cut here. Phillipo gave me one of the most gorgeous cuts of my life. Plus, he was very gracious and charming, I felt so comfortable I almost fell asleep while getting my hair styled. The ambiance is cozy, fun, and welcoming. I felt very welcomed and pampered. Massimo first started cutting my hair while working for another salon in east village. He’s now got his own place in LES and it’s awesome. Great ambiance, décor and everyone working here is super talented and friendly. It’s Massimo’s warm Italian hospitality that typically greets you with a cold Peroni or espresso shot! It’s a great touch that makes the get over the slight premium I usually pay to get my hair cut. You need to make an appointment but they are great at accommodating you! You need to check this place out, you’ll keep coming back

I’ve known Massimo for about 12 years, he is the best Master Hair Stylist I’ve known, and I’ve known many. He makes me feel like family, he is very personal in his haircut designs, meticulous, edgy, modern, talented, patient. He is at the top of hair stylists in New York, in my opinion. He is very funny. Every haircut is a master piece and you can see his work in motion, as an artist, as he paints in the canvas of your hair. He is awesome!
Now I live in Florida, have been living here for four years, every visit to New York is not complete without a haircut from Massimo.

I visited NY earlier this month, and Massimo would be the FIRST stop (after breakfast) upon arrival.
Even though I’m traveling around a lot now, he is still my main hair stylist. I always come to him and have been doing so for the last seven years!
I wanted a Keratin treatment, as I am building my fitness business and wanted to ensure my hair has a slight sweat (humidity) resilience chemical barrier.
My hair turned out perfect.
I am writing this review three weeks later, even after washing my hair myself.
He has a perfect way of applying keratin. I am a black female and he has an expert touch for understanding my hair type. My hair is still soft and the hair shaft is smooth. I love my hair. Massimo is awesome, I recommend him to everyone!
