This place has good barbecue sauces and disappointing burritos. Overcooked tortilla, weird mixture of flavors. The only saving grace are the sauces. They’ve also mixed up my order. I gave them one last try today, and again, I couldn’t finish my burrito. Not going back.

Usually like this place, until a couple of days ago. Got a chicken burrito, which I’ve had before here, but the quality was way below the usual. Chicken was mostly dark meat, and the tortilla was overcooked and tough. Obviously a quality control problem. Very disappointed. Doubt I will be returning.

Cute little spot, it’s literally a hole in a wall and you’d miss it if you didn’t look closely. Stopped in here last week to grab lunch, the waiter and cashier were friendly and the place was clean. There wasn’t really much on the menu that you could get, but I wanted to try something different, away from Chipotle. I got a chili bowl and a lemonade, came out to around $ 17 – 18 total. It wasn’t a lot, and at Chipotle you could’ve gotten a bowl and drink for around $ 12 – 13, but it tasted pretty good and had that hint of authenticity to it. I’d come here again one day, but in the mean time, I’ll still head to Chipotle because the price is a BIT pricey and there’s not much options.

this place was tasty, but it should be when you are paying $ 15 for 2 enchiladas! my roomie and i came here for dinner and were tightly squeezed into a table. overall, the entire seating area feels very cramped when it’s full. even has and awkward table/chair seated right in front of the bathroom door. we got an order of the spicy guac with watermelon radish chips($ 11 + $ 1 for radish) to start. it was good, but needed some more acid and salt. for my entrée i got the spicy brisket enchiladas, these were . very flavorful with a nice spicy salsa and green chile queso melted everywhere. it wouldve been even better if it came with a side of rice and beans! my roommate got the brussels and kale salad with spicy wild shrooms. this looked delish. our server was super friendly and helpful even cautioning on the spice level of my enchiladas.

Really tasty food, indulgent and healthy options, nice staff, and the upstairs seating is GREAT. Quiet, plenty of room so I’ve always find a place to sit, with a big window overlooking 7th ave. I’ve started having it be my go-to place to catch up with friends over lunch.

LOVELOVELOVE ! I find my friends have made this place a habit; at least once a week; nonetheless the reason for my review is more because of their customer service. One time in particular, I’d entered with a friend of mine who practically wanted everything on the menu plus some and the staff’s patience and guidance made the experience a good one. No rush, No hassle; not a ton of choices but enough to make you contemplate. Smokey carnitas and just about any burrito have been more then up to par. Just a little tip, have some water next to you if you aren’t used to spicy eatery. 4 stars only because of how early they close

Came here for lunch one day a few weeks ago and the food wasn’t great especially for the price. We stared with an order of the guacamole, which was good, but $ 11 for chips and guac is a little outrageous in my opinion. I ordered a shrimp taco and a carnitas taco. The shrimp was way too spicy for my taste, and the burrito my boyfriend ordered was extremely greasy. I really wanted to love this place but the expensive prices, average food, and cramped dining room definitely left a bad impression.

They charge seperately for your mixed drinks… you’ll pay for yor the mix and for the shot… no complimentary guacamole with your food order… go somewhere else please!

I’ve never had crunchy corn chips in a burrito before until my taste buds were assaulted in a magnificent way by the smoked chicken burrito here. My only regret, not ordering two. Great fast takeaway lunch.

Super tasty, easy, quick, and cheap. Can’t complain about that! The jambalaya side is great, and not too much food — recommended.

Absolutely delicious! I just had the kale and quinoa bowl with chicken and chipotle sauce and my goodness was it just so yummy! The bowl is comparable to chipotle bowls in terms of size but the content is a whole different game: this had Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes and it was just a delicious addition as I never would’ve thought those would be in a Mexican dish. The kale was nice and crispy and all the ingredients tasted fresh. I like my Mexican a tad spicy so I dump some of their hot chili sauce they had throughout the little store and it was just the right amount of tang and spice. I will definitely be back to try some of their tacos and burritos! But definitely a 5 star from what I’ve tasted so far.

Food and drink here are absolutely amazing! I had the spicy margarita, mac and cheese and green chili queso nachos and it was to die for. Our bartenders were Walter and Stephane they were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. There are even electrical outlets at the bar where you can charge your phone. Will definitely be coming back here on my next trip to New York!

Came here for a quick lunch on the weekend, and thought it was just ‘ok.’ I ordered a spicy margarita, which I understood would be spicy — but it wasn’t necessarily hot. It just had an overwhelming amount of spice to it. To the point that I was coughing a bit to get the dry spice out of my throat. I then ordered the blackened fish tacos — again, SO much spice! I really do love spice, but in this case I had to rub some of the blackened pieces off. Once I did that, it was fabulous! The fish was tender, the vegetables were good(though there were some remnants of brussel sprouts in my taco… which was a bit strange), and I walked away full and not feeling to heavy either. Waiter was incredibly nice, as was the hostess. The vibe was relaxed, and everyone was happy — the layout was also very open, which was refreshing being in the heart of the downtown area. All in all, I maaay go back to try something else, but with all the great food in NYC I’m not sure that will happen as my list of places to try keeps growing!

Mexicue definitely leaves something to be desired: Beans. I was hard pressed to locate many beans in my «Black Bean Burrito». In fact, all of the burritos that I and my coworkers have had there seem to consist of mainly rice, and not much of whatever else is listed on the menu. No Bueno. The green chili Mac n’ Cheese is pretty bomb though, and I’m still trying to figure out why there are two *Extremely similar* Arnold Palmer variations available. This place needs to take a few Cues in consistency.

There is a huge debate between my coworkers all the time between medicine and chipotle — personally I prefer chipotle. But I also want to clarify that I don’t think it’s worth comparing the two they are not exactly the same thing. Mexicue is really good just not my style. But there is always a line out the door so it’s definitely good food. I usually get a rice bowl — which is a definitely more than enough for lunch. I usually get chicken which is always very well prepared. I really can’t complain about anything here other than I just wasn’t a huge fan. The food is good the prices were decent. It’s usually pretty crowded around lunch time — so try to go either before or a little later.

I’ve gotten lunch from Mexicue once and had their ‘Rice ‘N Greens Bowl’ which came with romaine, Mexican brown rice, corn salsa, white cheddar, spicy lime dressing, salsa, and chicken. It wasn’t bad, though this particular bowl seemed to lack cohesiveness. It just felt like a bunch of ingredients thrown together without much thought. Though it’s close to my office, I haven’t been back for lunch since. My coworkers on the other hand go all the time. Recently, however, a number of them became mysteriously ill with some kind of food poisoning. And everyone who did had eaten Mexicue within the last of couple days. It’s entirely possible it was a coincidence, but it’s enough to keep us from going again. Food aside, a few of us came to Mexicue for Happy Hour a couple weeks ago, excited to try their $ 4 margaritas. They serve them in big, plastic cups from a machine. They tasted like lemonade. Skeptical of whether they had any tequila, we decided to ask an employee. They confirmed that they DO have alcohol, just not tequila. They use some kind of sweet agave liquor instead. After a huge plastic cup, a couple of us felt the slightest tinge of a buzz, but it was probably just a sugar high from all the agave. A margarita is defined as a cocktail made with tequila and citrus fruit juice, so I’d advise Mexicue not to market it as such.

The music selection is fabulous, the homemade drinks are yummy, the food is comforting to a Texan & Californian. A bit of Mexico & a bit of TexMex. Neither one of us can eat another bite. Well done… I’ll be back to try the Chocolate Banana Pudding. That mysteriously had no price.

This is their brick and mortar storefront compared to the more famous truck. Picked up their pulled pork sandwich and chilli burrito. More of a fan of the pulled pork sandwich as it was moist and tender and worked well with the potato roll. Creative added sauce on the sandwich that worked well with the pork. Not a fan of the burrito though as the rice seemed undercooked or the wrong type of burrito rice was used but i am a fan of the chilli brisket that was in the burrito. It works better as the sandwich with the burnt ends and has a chilli spicey kick. I would pass on the fish tacos as they were bland and the wet veggies really overpowered everything else and the fish was lost. It would of been better fried up instead of plain fish fillets. Very little seating space so its definitely a take out kind of spot with only 3 seats at the window counter. Service was good and the orders came out quickly.

Food was just okay. Stay was nice but the place didn’t look clean so I couldn’t give it more than 3 stars. I also didn’t sleep too fresh. So as for that Alabama burrito, I won’t be going back for another. However I say try it if you like Mexican food and BBQ!

walked by and saw the line was short. Ordered the blackened tacos,(2) and waited for no more than 3 – 4 minutes. The tacos are good, while fillet with coleslaw and some sauce that they put + tangy bbq sauce on top. NOw its not worth 10 bucks for 2 tacos. hell’s no. Im sorry but never again. the place is small and cozy but most of the food is to-go.

What I’ve had: Pulled Pork Tacos Would I go back?: Yes Story: Came here wanting to try this after seeing a review sometime on food network. Im a big lover of bbq-mex fusion and I think this place does a great job at it. Seems like the menu has changed slightly since i went here initially. I originally the first time had gotten some sort of slider with brisket on a potato bun with a great Mexican type slaw — which was AWESOME. The tacos are awesome as well — brisket and pork are fall apart tender and wonderfully seasoned. Slaw and veggie add in are very well thought out and crafted as well. Im happy they just opened one just by my new office.

In short, it’s a bit over priced for what it is and lacks a tad bit in flavor for what you’d expect from a tex-Mex place. Went to these guys twice — first at their store and then again at Madison Square Eats. They have a few stores throughout the city and are slowly opening more. This is a generous 3 stars, as I can’t say anything remarkable about this place from the food I had.
