Awesome new place for Gramercy! Delicious food, adorable ambience, and friendly waitstaff — great place for a date or even a family dinner. Food was 5⁄5. High quality ingredients with fantastic flavor all at great prices. We had the chicken and biscuits — amazing, seriously one of the best biscuits I’ve ever had. The steak frites special entrée was also outstanding — a massive 16oz steak(big enough for two) with a large bowl full of fries and a small salad. Didn’t have dessert but I imagine they’re great too. We also had one of the cocktails — most are creative takes on classics at average NYC prices. Environment is peaceful with mood lighting that isn’t too dark. Only suggestion would be to lower the music volume a bit as it got a bit noisy. Overall, definitely worth it and definitely going back again!

I was going to give it 4 starts, then I had the pork chop. Romantic atmosphere, excellent food, nice drink selection. Food has good portions and prices are just right. Don’t bring a picky eater, the menu is not large… at all. Like plan what you want to eat before you go. They only got a C– on water test, but hey. I am gonna let it slide.

I have visited Midwinter Kitchen twice and it’s still perfect — perfect service(where do they FIND these people?!) — perfect food, perfect atmosphere. I am SOHAPPY to have them in the neighborhood!

Wow! Amazing food, reasonable prices, superb service. If I hadn’t just eaten there, I’d want to go eat there right now. Perfectly grilled fish, crispy outside and tender inside; lemony spiced baby lentils with carrots; the freshest arugula salad ever. My dinner companion had perfect steak and unbelievably yummy kale and potatoes. The salted chocolate pecan pie on a brioche crust is to die for. Even the drinks were perfect. Go eat there now and often, support this lovely new farm to table restaurant!

First off, they could not be friendlier or more helpful. That they are around the block from my apartment is icing on a very delicious cake. I had eggplant and a rib-eye steak with great kale potatoes and arugula salad… I really want to give 4−½ stars, not 5, but whatever… everything needed salt and the steak was a little tough, probably because it was grass-fed and not corn fed. Everyone in our group was extremely pleased with their food. What did I love? Let me count the ways: farm to table, check. Creative and not ho-hum menu, check. Reasonably priced, creative wine list, check. We didn’t stay for dessert but next time we will. There will be a next time, for sure! Except for the lack of salt, everything was first rate!

Midwinter Kitchen is a lovely new restaurant bringing fresh, delicious food to Gramercy. The staff are lovely and attentive, the cocktails are delicious, and the beer/wine list is well diversified on styles and prices. The Moroccan butternut squash soup was wonderful, as was the toast. My fish was perfectly cooked, and the French fries are truly awesome. We’ll be back soon.

This is a new place in the neighborhood. At first I thought the food was too basic: burger, chicken, steak, etc; the menu was one page short. However, we were surprised by the quality of food: the cheeseburger and chicken were both very good. The desert was well prepared and very tasty. The service was attentive but not overbearing — the service team was new and there were a few minor process issues to iron out but they should get there in no time. Keep up the good work and we will come back often.

So happy that this area along 2nd avenue in Gramercy is now getting great local type food businesses. There is a great coffee spot(pushcart), a beer spot, cheese shop Malt & Mold… I’ve been to Midwinter twice already and loved everything I’ve tried on both visits. The food is yummy, comfort food. Had the chicken biscuit(which to me is like a deconstructed chicken pot pie and delicious). The gnocchi, the branzino and roasted vegetables, cheese plate — all lovely. They’ve also great cocktails and a decent priced wine list. I also love the look of the restaurant.(From a friend I heard that the person involved had a hand with another favorite lower east side bar/food spot called Eastwood). I love that Midwinter is not a loud, college, pub food type spot. Too many already in this area. It’s casual so you can sit at the bar(which I did on my second visit) or has comfortable seating areas for larger groups. If you want a chill environment where you can have a great meal, drinks and conversation with your dining mates — this is the place. The prices are little steep for the portion size, but it makes up with the quality of the food and the environment for sure. Highly recommend for a date night, family night or friends dining out.

So warm and inviting — and such amazing food. We’ve walked by and been intrigued by the menu, but thought the restaurant’s interior looked a little cold. Wrong! It’s a lovely space. The bar alone is worth a visit(great cocktails, great list of beers, wines and spirits — and fine bartending as well). Everything we ate was absolutely delicious, and the service could not have been finer.(Even when our waitress made a mistake with our appetizers, we were given a double order of one while we awaited another.) This is a gem in our neighborhood. We’re excited to invite our uptown and downtown friends, but we’re almost happy to just keep it to ourselves. Lucky us.

Awesome new restaurant! Everything is incredibly — and genuinely fresh. First, it’s very cozy inside, no frills which adds to the well done simplicity. Great service, the staff is very polite and friendly not to mention quick. The most important part is ALL the food is really delicious! Did not try one thing I didn’t like. For appetizers the chicken liver mousse is a MUST! The cheese plate is also very good and there are some fantastic spreads and bread that go along with the cheese. Entrees. the cheeseburger is very yummy and the spicy pickles give it a nice kick. The kale Caesar salad is fantastic(it was a special but ask it seems simple enough for them to create.) Try the steak — it was perfectly cooked and the portion was ideal not to mention the warm kale potato salad that came with it. YUM! Definitely give this spot a try… oh and they serve up some good cocktails too! Really nice dirty martinis and try their signature ‘dark and stormy’.

I went as soon as it opened and I had such a delicious meal. I should say: WE all had amazing meals. The chicken and the branzino are fantastic. The service was excellent and I am looking forward to eating there again asap.
