I had really high hopes for this place, so much so that we waited for the weekend for brunch, and it fell a bit short. It’s probably a 3.5 star rating for me, but pushing it up to 4 stars because of a few subtleties. Walked in without reservations for 2 at 12:30 pm on Saturday(in the winter, always easier to walk in with no wait). A lot of the reviews mentioned the tables being too close together, but we got the great little booth in the middle of the restaurant next to the stairs to the cellar, and it was nice and cozy. Was craving some steak, so I got some steak and eggs, coffee, and a side of smoked salmon. The $ 24 steak and eggs left a bit to be desired. The fries weren’t bad, and the egg was a fried egg, but the steak wasn’t massive in quantity and the cut was just okay. I did really enjoy the smoked salmon, the coffee was good and refillable, and the service was excellent and friendly. Might try something other than the steak and eggs for brunch next time.

This place is an absolute joke. I can’t believe they are serious with the food they serve people. Avoid this place honestly.

Had an amazing NYE dinner last night at Montmarte. Everything from the service to the food was incredible. Our waiter was so helpful and super nice. We started out with the pickle jar, rock shrimp croquettes, and mussels. Literally every bite was great. We had a large group(8) and every single person loved their entrees. This was one of the most pleasurable, relaxing dinner experiences I’ve had here in NYC.

Quaint restaurant, good date spot. There are 3 tables on the bottom level, you could ask for those if you really want privacy. All the dishes were spot-on and incorporated seasonal ingredients, and the waitress was helpful and friendly. Such a shame this place will be closing in March.

I’m disappointed in myself for taking so long to getting around to this. I’ve only been here once and it was a few months ago on a date with my boyfriend. I brought him to Joseph Leonard’s on his birthday in September as he had never been and mentioned how much he loved Montmarte. They’re owned by the same company so I was excited to check it out because JL is one of my favorite places in the city. Our night here did not disappoint. We got a really nice bottle of wine and a three course meal. Our server(I wish I had snagged her name so I could praise her personally– short, pretty petite brunette) was very knowledgeable and articulate and really seemed to care about our experience. We had a wine spill and our server and the bus staff were quick to help clean up. I’m never disappointed by this company, the service, atmosphere and food are always A+. I’m also not someone who minds a wait for a good spot but they sat us immediately on a week night.

My favorite new restaurant, they have an incredible chicken dish — it features these perfectly cooked potatoes and mushrooms served in a cast iron skillet, it’s like a rustic French dream of a dish come true. Friendly service and drinkable wines to boot. I am now officially obsessed with the entire family of these restaurants including Joseph Leonard, Fedora and Jeffrey’s Grocery.

After passing by Montmartre, looking in and wondering what it’s about, Chris M. and I finally stopped in for a cocktail this past weekend. What we didn’t know is that we would get a wonderful surprise in a great dining experience here. So glad to have stopped in! We started out at their small but very nice bar area in the front left. I ordered the Anjou Glad You See Me cocktail to enjoy, and enjoy I did… made from Dorothy Parker gin, pear cider, tonic, lemon, and High Five, it hit the spot as refreshing and tasty. As it got to the end of the cocktails, it was also near to 6pm when they started serving their complete menu on Sundays here. We decided that Montmartre was worth staying for. The restaurant itself is small, but very nicely decorated. Shelves with books, walls adorned with wonderful art in drawings and photos, it’s very quaint and inviting. We were shown to our table and promptly attended to by our server. Our server was phenomenal throughout, in being very positive and helpful as well as on top of everything we needed and even anticipating what we may be in need of. Basically, this young lady rocked it. Chris saw the Raclette Burger while we were at the bar and it was very tempting, he chose it while I heard the«Sunday roast special» for that evening of beef bourguignon and decided it would be perfect for me. When it was delivered to me it certainly did not disappoint one bit. The beef was slow cooked to perfection, it was so tender you didn’t require a knife and so flavorful it was amazing with every bite. The carrots, the potatoes, everything was equally pleasing. The entrees and specials may seem a little bit pricey to the eye but from my visit, they are worth it. To say I was satisfied with my selection was a true understatement, what a great meal experience! Bottom line: A great surprise in finding Montmartre, an amazing dining encounter. The beef bourguignon special was worth it, and the server was on top of her game. I look forward to more experiences here in the future, I think these guys do it right.

Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. The reservations team was very prompt in returning my emails. We fell loved the moment we walked in. The manager wished happy birthday to my gf the moment we walked in and gave us 2 complimentary glasses of delicious champagne. The server was absolutely amazing and made sure to check on us regularly. She was very cheerful and def seemed to love her job. The beefsteak tomato confit was out of this world but what stole the night was the wild boar. Succulent and the meat was falling off the bone. Absolute delicacy! Overall by far my best dining experience in the city and I have been living here for 5 years. At the end of the night, my gf said it was perfect. Thank you soo much Montmartre. I encourage you to check it out and I guarantee that you will not be disappointed!!!

The fact that I’ve lived in Chelsea for 5 months and just went to Montmartre for the first time is truly a crime. This place is everything a French bistro should be. Food: delicious. We got the eggs and croissant, mushrooms benedict, artichoke toast, french dip au jus, and some extra sides of pomme frites, because obvi. Everything was cooked perfectly and great portion sizes. The croissant was buttery and perfect, my eggs were poached perfectly, and the fries were crispy goodness(although slightly salty). Service: unbelievable. After years of dealing of snooty and useless hosts/hostesses, I was really impressed by Gabriel at Montmartre. 2⁄5 of us showed up at 12, expecting there to be a wait and about to put our names down, but there was actually no wait. Gabriel took our names anyways, asked when we would all be back(around 1), and told us he’ll try to seat us around that time. At 1, he called me to follow up, and when my entire party showed up, he was able to seat us immediately. Pretty amazing as anyone who’s tried in brunch in New York would know. I was really impressed by the whole experience and will definitely be back!

While strolling, my boy friend and I stopped in for a cocktail and some nibbles. We sat at the bar — a little small, but nice — and chatted up the lovely bartender. We ordered some rosé and a small dish of fried yumminess and had a wonderful convo. It does get crowded as the evening goes on so make reservations and be early. The dining area is beautiful and there’s a lovely back area that I’m dying to have dinner in soon.

We really enjoyed this place, and will definitely go back. It was packed but they were friendly and welcoming, arranged us at the service end of an intimate bar. Most places, the servers would be saying, «you can’t stand there, you’re in my way» Here, they all said hello and what could they get us. We asked the guy next to us what to order, and two more folks at the bar chimed in in turn. Obviously this restaurant has a loyal bunch of regulars. We had a drink, sat down within 10 minutes. Highly recommend the smoked duck breast and chicken liver mousse apps(phone battery died, but everything looked amazing). Steak frites was hanger steak but tender, perfect with big crispy fries. The raclette burger came out exactly right, homemade pickle slices, great roll.

Best brunch experience I have had in NYC! Delicious food, but more importantly the people who work there make it an absolute joy to brunch there. We sat in the garden — what an AMAZING garden, it feels like you’re in a beautiful private oasis, and the outdoor bar is gorgeous, I’d go just for a drink to chill at the outdoor bar. The best part of the experience was our server, we felt like we were best friends with her, she chatted to us for a while, told us about her favorites, and even gave us a free fruit bowl. She literally brightened up our day. Whoever does their hiring — A+

This place is exactly what you want from every restaurant. The staff is friendly. I’ve always had a great waiter who is on top of it and friendly. The food is delicious. Brunch is great. Currently, they have a citrus salad that will make your heart skip a beat. Dinner is also right on point. Classic French bistro food. The atmosphere is beautiful. The interior has a modern French country vibe. Very cozy, dim lights at night. The patio is complete perfection. The roof can be drawn out when it rains and retracted when it’s a gorgeous day. If it’s still on the menu, order the burgundy Chardonnay, you won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend this spot for any time of the year.

Once upon a time, a French immigrant said to himself, «I must bring my country’s delicious cuisine to America, and serve Chelsea’s best burger, and I shall call my restaurant Montmartre.» Historical records are fuzzy about the man’s name, but mostly agree it was not Napolean. Now that you’re aware of the history, let me share some more nuggets with you, namely that THISISTHEBESTBURGER I’VEEVERHAD. You heard(read) that right! Apparently they only have it on the brunch menu, but oh my is it absolutely delightful. You want to go get this burger, now. It’s heavenly, with the perfect taste, texture, smell, feel, attitude, balance, sense of dramatic timing, EVERYTHING. It’ll make you laugh, it’ll make you cry(tears of joy), it’ll make you never want to eat another burger again. I want to eat one every day. And on top of that? The steak frites that come with the burger are among the best fries I’ve ever had. I left this meal and wasn’t able to eat another burger for weeks, because what on earth could possible compare to this? Nothing, that’s what. Go for brunch, get the burger, and thank me later. I will accept short thank you notes for the recommendation once you come down from your burger high, and you’re welcome.

In short: very rude hostess at the door and a few unpleasant people in the staff. You have to wait a long time to get a table and food is long to come. Yet, our waiter was nice and food was pretty tasty. More details: Very rude hostess and her colleague(seems to be head of staff) was rude as well. They told us we had to wait half an hour to seat outside(that’s ok) and as we had been waiting for a hour(:-() and started complaining, they suggested that we should maybe grab a seat at the restaurant next door ! I tried to crack some jokes to relax the atmosphere but bartender was as dry as his colleagues. :-( They did not even apologize for the wait, nor suggest we could seat and order inside and move outside when a table will be ready, nor even give us a smile(C’mon! A smile is free!). Terrible customer experience. The food was enjoyable though. A combination of new American style with a Frenchy touch(salty croissant with ham and eggs for example). Took the steak and eggs and both were perfectly cooked(steak rare, fried eggs sunny side up slightly runny) which I consider a very good sign. The patio is cosy and the waiter who took care of us(Andy) was also extremely nice and helpful. However, food took a long time to come.

Checked out the place with friends for brunch. The ambience of the place is very nice — indoor and outdoor seatings at the back. We went on a nice day so the outdoor seatings were opened. Be prepared to wait in line due to limited seating and popularity during weekend brunch. Staffs were nice and attentive, the bar tender was pleasant. We got to sit along the bar counter in their outdoor area. Ordered their $ 17 Eggs Benedict, the portion was a little small for the price but it tasted good. I’d recommend it for the experience and a place to hangout over a few drinks with friends over brunch.

Swing by today during brunch celebrating first time passing 60 F in NYC in 2015 and catching up with a good friend. We sat at the bar and the vibe are lively yet not very loud. Justin, our bar tender, is friendly and attentive. I have not been back since they first opened and now they have a new chef. We both had the special shrimp and grits with spicy Harissa sauce. Classic shrimp and grits with a Moroccan twist. The Harissa sauce made of #lchili pepper paste, garlic coriander and a mix of other spices delivers a vibrant and exotic flavors without being over powering. The slightly crunchy pink shrimps paired well with the creamy grits. I am glad I opted for the sparkling rose to go with this light and savory dish. Well done, Montmartre. Looking forward to coming back when the garden is open soon!

Bonjour, Montmarte! I had a fabulous meal in this French restaurant. We were served right away even though we were late for our reservation. The seating was tight, but we made do. Our server was very bubbly and helpful. I tried: Steak Tartare with capers, horseradish, anchovy vinaigrette & smoked aioli-Great flavors, but smaller than I had hoped for $ 17. French onion soup-tres bien Cassoulet(pork and duck confit, haricots blanc, breadcrumbs, and frisee aux lardons)-Good, but definitely not what I expected. A small portion and it was more beans than pork and confit. The bacon salad was excellent, though. Raclette Burger(grilled onions and cucumbers, raclette cheese and remoulade on a potato roll with pommes frites)-Not cooked medium/rare as requested but still a great burger. The aioli that came with the fries were heavenly.

This is a beautiful charming spot in Chelsea with delicious food to match the atmosphere. I’ve only been here for brunch, but I was impressed with the service and all of the food that came our way. My friend had the Pollo and Perdue, the chicken and waffle option, and it looked delicious. I chose the burger, and it now will go down as one of my top 5 burgers in New York. The meat was perfectly grilled, accompanied by some kind of creamy mayo that was wonderful, and served on a beautiful brioche bun. I chose salad instead of the pommel frites, but they also looked more than worth the carbs and fat. Our host and server were very friendly, and our table was ready before we were told it would be. The only improvement I would suggest here is the size of the cocktails. I loved my beer-based bloody mary, but the drink was quite small for the price and compared to similar drinks in the neighborhood. A bigger glass please! I’ll be back.

The place where we were sitting was nice and cozy, and our server was super friendly! However, none of us really liked our dishes :( My friend and I got the burger, which was a bit burnt, and with some toast replacing the buns. Boo.
