Great food, great service very friendly staffs. Chicken wings and salmon was so delicious.

I think that the take out quality must be much lower than actually eating at Mooncake based on the generally positive reviews this place gets… I have ordered lunch delivery a number of times and I am always underwhelmed by the quality of the food. Some people I work with rave about Mooncake delivery, but every time I have it I always feel «eh.» I have ordered the Grilled Chicken & Avocado Salad and the Lemongrass Shrimp & Rice Noodle Salad, and both of them were ‘blah’…I definitely think there are a lot of delivery lunch options in Downtown NYC area that I would much rather order from.

Hello salmonella.
Why has nobody commented on the chicken from this place? It’s ground meet, spam of sorts, cut and grilled to resemble chicken and packed with flavor to disguise whatever it is. Sooo gross. Took a few bites and threw it away.
Next day, food poisoning.

After eating some desserts, I decided to stop by for dinner nearby since it was also freezing out. Found this place on Unilocal and the pics looks so good! Came here and tried it out. I ordered the shrimp salad and it came with about 5 shrimps and a big bowl of salad. My boyfriend ordered the beef sandwich and it was really tasty but only had a little meet inside which wasn’t enough for him.
Service was really good. The lady made sure the food was good. As the salad was a bit plain, I asked for sauce on the side. The lady gave me two different sauce, one spicy green sauce and a sweet sauce. Both were good depending on your liking. Overall great place to eat at. Super fast service as well.

Simple food, delicious flavors. The place looks rundown but the food is A1!
The food items are limited ND very few items for vegetarian (one of us was). But the food is worth the try.
A meal for 3 cost us around $ 45 including tips. Not bad at all!

I ordered the Grilled Lemongrass Shrimp w/​brown rice (white rice is an option). It is a generous portion, just the right amount for me It also comes with a small salad with some orange sauce on it. Overall, it was tasty, but the combination of chilli sauce & orange sauce can be a little overpowering. However, if you like sweet chill sauce, you will like this dish!

This place is phenomenal. Atmosphere is small, not special. But that is fine, the food is outstanding and well priced. Especially for soho and NYC. Loved it. Great little gem

I’m sure it helps that I just ran a half marathon, but these were some of the best fish tacos I’ve had in a long long time. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and with the sauciest of sauces, the plate was simple and delicious. Add in a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service, and you’ve got a place worth visiting again and again!

I hesitated to write a review for Mooncake because at first I wasn’t impressed with our meal. But, after a satisfying lunch today I don’t hesitate to recommend the spot! It’s generally crowded during lunchtime, but the service is extremely quick.
Seared tuna and arugula salad
–the soy lime vinaigrette was too pungent and overpowered the entire salad. it made the entire dining experience unpleasant
–the tuna was seared well though
–other ingredients in the salad were fresh
Miso-​glazed salmon
–hit or miss but when they cook it perfectly, it is buttery, delicious and satisfying
Slicer steak with cilantro & ginger chimichurri
–beef is tender and refreshing sauce!
The wonton noodles soup looks delicious as well.
Great spot for a quick lunch! Cash only!

Delicious food and fast service. Came here after an after work event. Ordered starters and they came out so fast. The wings are good sweet and tangy. The crawfish dumplings were good as ell as the lobster mango rolls. Quick service who and attentive to answer our questions about what’s in this sauce.
Will return here for a good meal!

On an unassuming corner, the steak sandwich is the must. It’s garlic buttered, wonderfully toasted, and the peppers don’t overpower the steak. The steak is always tender though the photos make it look more well done. Fresh flavors in every dish.

A hole in the wall type place, but serves awesome tasting crawfish dumplings! Definitely going back for those.
Also had the octopus and spinach noodles. Didn’t realise it was cold, thought it would be warm. It was OK. Best thing was loads of salad and veg, which is rare for cheaper eats. The veg was very welcome indeed after a week eating out in NY.

Nommmmy. Tried the miso glazed salmon for take-​out one day, and the portion is large. The salmon is soft and glazed with a sweet miso sauce, on top of white rice (or brown if you’d like!) with a side salad. The restaurant seems very no-​frills, but they were very nice when I was ordering and waiting for my take-​out.

Don’t let the size fool you. This is absolutely great fresh food! Have the lobster rolls. You can thank me later. And remember cash only here. It’s a family ran small restaurant.

Agedashi Tofu & Rice Noodles Salad– This is very consistent and delicious.
Tofu and Buckwheat noodle salad — One of my favorite things to get from here.
Broiled Salmon Salad — OMG It is freaking delicious. The green sauce just makes it heaven. I hesitated before pouring some on. But damn it’s a good mix.
Wonton soups — YUM — I usually add Noodles.
Spicy Steak Salad — A-​Ok. Sometimes I can’t deal with chewing steak. So this is a once every month deal.
Banh Mi — Meh — There’s better around.
I order from this place a lot. So I will keep adding. :)

The food was good. Great quality ingredients and decent portions for the price. My complaint is that everything was too sweet for my tastes. The sauces/​dressings all had too much sugar. I shared the the summer rolls, Lemongrass Shrimp Salad and the Grilled porkchops with a friend and by the end my mouth was almost aching from all the sugar. Even the rice had a sweet vinegar or something on it. I will say that I am super sensitive to sweet. I don’t even drink sugary drinks anymore because it’s too much for me, but my friend agreed that everything was too sweet. I think that if I had eaten just one entrée, it would have been OK, but the fact that everything I ate was sweet, it was simply too much. I’m willing to try it again, but probably won’t go out of my way any time soon.

This little hole-​in-​the-​wall was a great place to grab a filling yet healthy and inexpensive meal after a long commute.
With only limited seats available, we grabbed a roomy table next to a family already seated at a table right next to ours. Mind you our two tables alone probably took up half of the seating there, I noticed most people tend to sit at the counter for a quick meal or order to-​go.
They have quite an extensive menu of Asian-​fusion dishes– from noodle soups to summer rolls and rice dishes, etc.
I decided to go with the steamed pea-​shoot dumplings and the squid in BBQ chili-​lime sauce. My boyfriend ordered the pork wonton egg noodle soup. Our food was brought out in a timely manner and we dove in immediately.
The pea-​shoot dumplings were delightful! Very healthy and each bundle of goodness was jam-​packed with veggies. Though they weren’t heavily seasoned, it came with a side of soy-​chili sauce for dipping. The squid in BBQ chili-​lime sauce dish was amazing! That sauce was incredibly tasty and went well with the fresh, soft squid– I eagerly cleaned my plate right off. My boyfriend’s soup was also delicious. Each wonton was packed with meat and was very juicy. The soup itself had great natural, flavors.
Overall this establishment is great for health-​lovers that don’t want to sacrifice flavor. They have plenty of vegetarian options as well.

I ordered delivery from Mooncake through seamless a few days ago and the delivery guy called me that he was by my building within four minutes of placing the order. I do work relatively close to the place, but four minutes is kinda unheard of.
So, despite being freaked out/​generally suspicious of the impossibly fast delivery, the salmon plate I ordered was so good! I love that brown rice is a free alternative to white rice and that it also comes with a little salad. I’m glad I found a place to order lunch from that has healthy options beyond just salad. I will definitely be ordering from here in the future.

Deceptively simple dishes with perfectly balanced sweet, spice, and sour and generally a little kick as well.
This location probably receives far more delivery orders than walk-​ins, or that’s what it seems like with the hustle of delivery bicyclists flying in and out the door while I was sitting leisurely at our table watching a lot of the foods being prepped and prepared in the open kitchen on the other side of the counter.
While everything on the menu is good that I’ve tried– I can’t find anywhere else that makes such a flavorful Pulled Pork Sandwich without overdoing some flavor element, except for Mooncake. If you don’t want the carbs, you’ll be happy to know that that the pork is stacked high and mighty in this sandwich with plenty of greens to make a salad out of it instead.

Ok, I want to put this in perspective. I had gotten up early to go for a run, then I went for a free paddle (downtown Kayak… DO IT), then I went to a trampoline weight lifting class (yeah…I know), then started to go for another run. Only to realize that I hadn’t eaten and it was 2pm.
SO, I whip out my trusty Unilocal app to see what was in the area, and low and behold I see a review of Mooncake from Jando S. His recommendations are GOLDEN. So basically, I knew that this was IT.
It’s this tiny little place, and it was so empty (how empty?), that I wasn’t sure it was open. BUT, they were making fresh dumplings or things at the table. I was STARVING and THIRSTY. As requested the nice waitress brought me a pitcher of water, and humoured me when I had no idea what to order. Turns out, the pork chops with tons of salad instead of rice and a side of the grilled asparagus was EXACTLY what I needed.
DELICIOUS, tons of food, and all for $ 15. Everything on the menu looked great, and it was all fresh. If I’m in the area again, I will DEFINITELY be going there!
