Super easy, super nice staff. Winning neighborhood place. Nearby parking as well, should that be a plus.

Stumbled upon this place one day for happy hour. Pretty good deals. It was time to order and the wings we wanted to try they didn’t have, so we picked another flavor, Guess what? They didn’t have that either. So had to get regular wings. Very blah. One waitress started us then half way threw a new waitress was now serving us. Btw she was new and could give any example about things on the menu in regards to taste. She was nervous and all over the place. We let it go because she was new… But why did we get a new one and the other waitress was nearby? Who knows! We didn’t know how to tip since we had two girls. We left enough for both so I hope they split it. I won’t go back!

Really good food, get a lot for the price. We used a groupon, 50 bucks for the 4 of us. Along with the meal you get 3 drinks per person, you can even choose a beer haha. Service was great. Would for sure eat here again

I had a groupon for this place that was about to expire and I called about 30 minutes before they opened to inquire about what to do if I could not make it by the expiration date. The woman with the Irish accent was EXTREMELYRUDE on the phone! She yelled that if it expires then«Oh Well». I asked to speak to a manger and she said no and hung up the phone! Are you kidding me? Well, I didn’t hesitate to call Groupon and explain my grievance to them and they actually gave me a full refund. Just for future it’s good to know that even if your Groupon expires the business has to at least compensate you for what you initially paid for the Groupon. The business does not have to honor the original deal but they have to honor the price your paid for the Groupon. Coincidentally, I was walking by the area recently and poked my head in. The place is a complete dump and smells like pee.

I really liked this bar! Finding an Irish pub in NYC is not hard, but finding one that is not too packed with a good crowd and great service can be! My parents were staying in the area and we stopped in here for a drink, the bartenders were friendly, attentive and made the drinks to our liking! I would definitely recommend if your in the area!

Came here the other day with Ingrid S. to fufill our trivia league responsibilities(these are the big people trivia leagues, ya’ll) — upon entering I beelined for the back because unfortunately all of the stools were occupied at the bar counter. We were seated by our waitress at a front table on the right side of the back area… right under one of their speakers. This wasn’t a bother though. For Lent I gave up all alcohol(beer and liquor — so far so good and it’s almost been a week with many free opportunities to get it in…) so after our waitress asked me for like the 5th time what I wanted to drink I asked for a glass of water on the rocks(had har) and Ingrid had a pint of beer on their happy hour — which until 8pm is basically $ 2 off beers on draft and their specialty cocktails are $ 9 from their usual $ 12(Ack! This isn’t thaaaaaat kind of bar, but good for them if people are buying them). As the munchies set in, we decided to share an order of fries. We opted for plain ol’ regular french fries since Ingy gave up cheese… but one day I’d love to return because their regular«Nelly’s Disco Fries» feature 2 or 3 different types of cheese with a curry sauce gravy. Mmmmm… cheese and gravy…*insert Homer Simpson drooling noises here*. The plain regular fries were really delicious and we got ranch and ketchup served with them. I also asked for Malt Vinegar because I LOVE that stuff and not everyone has it. I also want to return here one day for their grilled cheese burger… IT’S A BURGERWITH2GRILLEDCHEESESUSEDASBUNS. Just to make this clear… THATMEANSIT’S A GRILLEDCHEESESANDWICHONTOPOF A HAMBURGERWITH A GRILLEDCHEESESANDWICHUNDERNEATHIT. This is GENIUS. GENIUUUUUUSSSSSS. GIMMMMMMIE, GIVEITTOMEEEE. #FatKidStatus #IcantEven Trivia here was super fun and the host did a great job of engaging both the back and front areas with her fun banter and challenging questions. Our waitress was efficient without any frills. Would I recommend Nelly’s to pop by and grab a drink at? Not really, there are better places in the area. Would I recommend this place to grab some eats or go for trivia? Hell yeah. 3 Unilocaly Unilocal stars for A-OK *thumbs up*.

Really enjoyed our Groupon brunch this morning for a few reasons: friendly Bartender/waiter knowledgeable about the groupon deal, good mimosas, food was well seasoned and had plenty of it without feeling stuffed. Omelette and home fries were well-seasoned, fries were golden colored and crisp. Onion and red and green peppers were finely diced for my omelette. Wasn’t offered choice of breads for toast. No jelly or butter or hot sauce or coffee, but I didn’t ask, so they may be around. Hope to visit again and try other brunch entrees. Better than Sarge’s. We will return. My compliments to the cook!

My aunt and I visited this pub and loved the food and atmosphere. Carmel waited on us and she was welcoming, friendly and made our experience a memorable one. I am from California, but I will be returning to this pub the next time I am New York.

Came here for brunch with the groupon. the Food was nothing special but good. I would not go out of my way to return the girl working there was friendly, but service was a little slow. The gp was for two brunch meals and 3 drinks each for $ 27. the meals came with one drink each and were about $ 12 – 14 each. I Did not like my drink and didn’t drink any of it one type of beer bloody mary and mimosas were only drinks available with the brunch menu

Review is for lunch. It’s so hard to find anything reasonably priced that isn’t fast food or dollar pizza in this area. So I was super excited to stumble upon Nelly Spillane’s. with an 11 $ lunch special that includes a drink. I’ve had the buffalo chicken wrap, and the Turkey Burger so far. Both were delicious & a good portion for the price.(I took one star off because the fries are always cold :[) Sarah behind the bar during the day lovely, and warm. I love that she asks everyone their name, and introduces herself to everyone.(She also fills the glass of wine righttttt to the rim of the glass… delightful.) I will definitely be a frequent visitor!

This review is for brunch. My date and I had a groupon for 2 entrees and 6 drinks. We walked into the bar and sat towards the middle of the restaurant. After ordering our mimosas, there was an incredible amount of pulp delivered in each one. After straining out some cheap champagne and OJ through my teeth, we placed our order. I ordered the flank steak and eggs and my date had the breakfast wrap which she seemed to enjoy. Unfortunately, the soggy potatoes and crispy(yes, actually crispy) eggs made it almost impossible to enjoy. My steak was on the verge of raw, and very bloody. I didn’t complain but i wasn’t really asked how it was. The only reason this place gets two stars is because of the bartender/waitress who was very busy yet still seemed to keep a smile on her face. Might return for drinks another day!

Came here with a Groupon, and there was only 1 waitress who was also the bartender on a Saturday for brunch. The deal was 2 breakfasts and 3 drinks each, which we were really excited about. Unfortunately the food & the service did not hit the mark. We were seated immediately, but no one brought our menus(or offered us water) until the table next to us needed something too. When we finally did order, we got Bloody Mary’s, which were the highlight of our meal. We ordered the flank steak with eggs, and the Irish breakfast roll with Irish bacon. Both meals were sadly underwelming — tepid eggs, dry potatoes, and the roll(with meat), lacked flavor, but was pretty large. I am a notoriously slow eater, so I finished half my sandwich, half my potatoes, and waited for my second Bloody Mary. I ran to the bathroom(with half of my food still there, my silverware there, I was clearly not finished), and when I came back, my food was gone! The waitress was in such a hurry that she didn’t even ask my friend at the table if I was finished(which I wasn’t, and they would have told her that), but she had already piled the dishes on top of a perfectly good meal. Left hungry, disappointed, but a little buzzed(3 bloody mary’s and only ½ a sandwich will do that to ya), so it wasn’t the worst thing that happened.

Horrendous service. I ordered the steak and eggs. Got my eggs over easy and steak medium rare. The eggs come completely cooked through and I ask for them redone(and the redo I got was entirely cooked through too). Then I cut through the steak and it’s basically well done. I tell the waitress and am so rudely told in the most unprofessional tone that I basically don’t know what a medium rare steak is. I’ve attached the picture — you be the judge. It’s completely not ok to treat your customer like they’re an idiot. I eat steak all the time and know what a medium rare steak is. Don’t point at my food and tell me that it’s medium rare as if you’re lecturing me when it’s clearly not.

Very good food. Friendly and welcoming too. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We used a groupon and for the price of it we had enough food still left some on plate. We usually don’t like to leave food. my mom and I had the same thung irish breakfast with two sausage two bacon some irish pork sauagse called black and white pudding, home fries eggs toast and three drinks. We had just two glasses of orange juice. The food was good and we be back again I have groupon for four people.

My friends and I have been experimenting with over a dozen bar trivia locations over the past year, and one week we decided to check out Nelly Spillane’s. I made a reservation for six one Wednesday night, and we were looking forward to trying the place out. Unfortunately there were a lot of disappointments during our stay. As soon as I came in I was informed that our reservation for six was at a table that could only seat five. Either there are no six-person tables(the entire bar is on the narrow side), or there are but they just disregarded the number specified in the invitation; either way(especially because the trivia provider there specifies we can have teams of up to six) this did not bode well. The stools there were extra wide, so we couldn’t even squish people into a booth — only five stools could physically fit there. Thankfully someone from my party of six had a last-minute cancellation, otherwise someone would’ve had to stand the entire time. Happy hour ends at 8pm, which is when trivia is scheduled to start. By the time we were ready to order it was 7:50pm, and the waitress was conveniently MIA at that time. My friend was able to flag her down at 7:55pm, and they had the following exchange: Friend: «So, what are your happy hour specials?» Waitress: «It stops at 8.» Friend, checking watch: «Oh, good, so we’ve got 5 minutes left!» Waitress: «You’ve got 5 minutes left if the machine says you’ve got 5 minutes left.» I know what she was saying was true and fair, but the way she said it was very curt and took most of us aback. Sheesh, the things we have to do for a $ 5 Bud Light. As for the food quality, everyone was disappointed with their dishes. First, they were a bit on the pricey side — I know they’re conveniently located at 33rd/Madison, but I’m never a fan of the cheapest burger available costing $ 14. I’m a fan of Shepherd’s Pie, but after tasting that 15 item from the«Irish Specialties» menu, it ended up being the worst I’ve had in recent memory; it was overcooked and barely had any seasoning in it. I liked how trivia started closer to the scheduled starting time than it would at other locations(seven minutes late; typically it’s 15 – 30). I enjoyed the quizmaster, but some of the other players were a bit rude. Despite the quizmaster saying up front no one should shout out answers, one guy did exactly that in the first round. There was also one question where a guy shouted out«If anyone knows this, they must be looking it up on their phone!» Once in a blue moon the answer shout-out occurs at a trivia location, but the latter never does. I’m hoping this lack of sportsmanship is not representative of the type of people who would typically frequent the bar on trivia night. This was our first and only time visiting Nelly Spillane’s. We liked the Midtown location and the quizmaster, but we unanimously decided never to return due to the seating, service, food, and sportsmanship issues.

We came here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm. Despite being just a week or so before St. Patrick’s Day, the bar was 75% full but the back eating room was completely empty. My hubby and I sat on huge chairs in the back and enjoyed brunch in the relatively relaxing pub with great Irish music playing. Brunch ranges from $ 11−14/entrée which includes a drink(either a mimosa, bloody mary, etc). My husband got the steak and eggs which comes with a huge piece of flank steak and eggs any way you like it, as well as a whopping portion of potatoes and toast. I ordered the breakfast burrito and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was, especially the guacamole which I had low hopes for considering this is an Irish pub. The burrito was HUGE and also came with a whopping portion of potatoes that I could not even finish. We were extremely surprised at the quality of the food considering how cheap it was and the fact that we were eating brunch in a bar. The service was wonderful and the staff is extremely friendly. The food was served VERY quickly and we were never at a loss to have our drinks/water refilled. Overall, this is a great place for brunch. We’ll have to come back and check it out during the normal pub hours to see what the pub scene is like.

I came to the pub after a Rangers game and fell in love with this little pub. The staff are very professional and very courteous and attentive. My partner ordered the Gaelic burger which is served with Jameson sauce I think and I ordered the chicken pot pie which was bloody tasty and it was served with mash potato. The portion size is big and I ate so much of it but it felt like I hardly touched it. Coming from Australia I noticed that the ceiling was covered in various National flags, which is awesome except for one thing: the Australian flag was backwards! I’m sure it wasn’t intentional and we had a joke with the staff who said they would bring it up at the next staff meeting. Cheers Guys!
